=O, What's going on all of a sudden!

jrpgs on consoles this previous gen apart from the tales franchise, ni no kuni, and nier have been pretty mediocre and I as well feel the 13 saga was better than all the other jrpgs released that I didnt list.. but i still put the whole 13 saga in the average category when putting it against previous entrys in the series.

you could have just said "Yes that is my idea of optimism" since you share his love of "comparing" to games you havent played

It's a 6 or 7 game. Whether you consider that bad or not, is up to you.

What I half-expected was to see almost all of the western media shitting on this game from a great height, and that really hasn't happened. They're not lavishing it with praise either of course, but I expected far worse.

I am going to buy this game in 2016 when it's very cheap and then I will never play it. Because its Final Fantasy I need to have it in my collection, I will put it next to Dirge of Cerberus in my closet of shame. The good news is, Lightning is done and we can go back to anticipate Final Fantasy like the in the old days untill 12.

Such a shame too cause this game (or trilogy for that matter) had such amazing and great promise (especially in terms of lore) but S-E definitely fucked this up.
If it was executed properly, it woulda been a great trilogy with each person looking forward to the sequels rather than groaning.
Besides this, Ive liked how Snow has changed over the course of three games.

So what's next...X-3 or another XIII spinoff featuring another character? After all, the recent marketing of the game has only been saying this is the end of Lightning's story.

the only jrpgs i haven't played this gen was xenoblade chronicles, the last story, and any game that wasn't localized from japan.

Hope Returns: Final Fantasy XIII-4
Snow and Serah: Relationship Fantasy XIII-5
Sazh: Chocoboogie All Night!
Vanille & Fang's Mini-Games Down Under

And there'll be a "Trilogy of the Generation" bundle which has the three XIII games bundled together with lots of positive quotes from Perfo on the back.

Sazh deserves his own game dangit! It's the least they could do for making him the weakest character.

He's not particularly weak in the first game - he's one of the better characters at buffing your party, IIRC, plus there's that trick whereby you use his Blitz move to pump out crazy amounts of damage against a single target.

Wouldn't surprise me if SquareEnix still persued a Lightning Returns 2 despite the very average rating for whatever reason.

I remember the days when such a score would be unheard of in conjuction with a Final Fantasy title. But hey, yet here we are.

Oh man, I pray that SE is ready to move on for good from this shitty universe. This trilogy has really dampened my excitement for the entire Final Fantasy brand.

The trailer was a very desperate attempt by SE, no doubt about it. Even in the most anticipated games list, there were some unknown blogs listed there. Had no idea about more than half of them.

Ah well, at least the retro retelling of the story was good effort.

Eurogamer's review reads so good. People looking for positive reasons to play this game should definitely read through the entire Eurogamer review.

If it sells, sure. But I doubt it. They're not going to market the heck out of it saying "this is the end" and then come out with "Lightning Returns Again!"

Do you guys think there's a chance of Bravely Default outselling Lightning Returns in the US? The former is #4 on amazon.com ATM while LR is #8. What message do you think that'll send to Square-Enix if that happens?

No. The problem is you. You are one of the enablers, buying this shitty, awful game and giving Square-Enix undeserved return on investment. You try and downplay two of the best games Square-Enix has released in years, and try to elevate your Lightning waifu simulator out of trash status despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This game is not 'progress,' this is a regression. An embarrassing end to a complete clusterfuck of a trilogy that never needed to happen. A travesty to the Final Fantasy brand. You are no Final Fantasy fan.

You are a connoisseur of crap. Enjoy your meal.
Wooooooow

I guess an over the top poster could only ever get this kind of response

Highly doubt it. Some places I've walked into aren't even stocking Bravely Default.

That best seller stuff on amazon is kinda weird because I doubt Last of Us can today sell better than LR on its launch day.

a week ago I would have said this was impossible
now? there's a chance

The Last of Us is ranked higher than LR because it was recently on sale and was posted on slickdeals.
It had the hot fire icon, so that meant lots of people were buying it.
