Yeah, it does seem random. I think the only one Sony held on to is #1 so they could auction it off.

Man this thing looks amazing in person. Both of mine just showed up today. One was promptly shipped to the buyer. Other one is for me to keep. Just look at these pics. They speak for themselves. Honestly I'm blown away by how awesome this is. Even the box it came in is classy, it weighs like 15 pounds on its own when empty.
Also as an act of good karma to go against my scalper sin, I got a PS4 for my brother with the profits.
Not sure if someone is doing number registrations till, but I'm 11,784. Pretty cool. Everyone wants a low number but I like this one a lot, it's like I just barely made it in there.

Looking at the the last pic. Is yours damaged? I see s long line on it, like a huge scratch, and it pops out too.
Or is my eye deceiving me?

I got my hand on one and although I knew I would pay a premium.
I tried pre order route for 2 hours and nothing.
Owning one truly is priceless to me.

I think it's the TV (or whatever the black electronics in the background is) reflecting onto the console to make it look like there is a line/scratch there.
What is the preferred way to set up the PS4, on its side or flat?

Now that Im looking on my 1440p monitor, I quite certain its a scratch. I was using my iphone before.

It's more of a reminder of good times.
I personally don't see the point of keeping it sealed.
The seller was very excited at the amount of profit and honestly to me it's in a way priceless to have obtained one.

This isnt a criticism in anyway, in fact id never have a problem with someone wanting to make some cash but its interesting the difference in opinion towards scalping in this thread and the UK one.
Over there there is more of a community feel of helping fellow gamers out with scalping being frowned upon.

We hate the scalpers just the same. But it's a waste of energy to discuss it at length. Let them get on with it.
For me it always depends on the context. If someone manages to get two and sells one for good profit, i don't have a problem with. Made the same when Sony store near me had a firesale for cameras. Bought one for myself and another to sell. Buyer asked me why i'm selling it so cheap (although i made 80€ +).
Another thing is when people make this like a business. Like the picture of the woman with the 20 or so Wii Us in her car or people over HUKD (same here in germany) who buy 100 units of something which has a huge discount or has a price error.

We also had a bit of debate in here earlier on about it, but at the end of the day, people can do whatever they want with it and others can choose to not pay for it if it bothers them that much. There were dozens of them popping up on the UK ebay site just as much as the US from what I've heard so I think it goes both ways.

I am looking to sell mine in NY and i already posted an ad on craglist for around 1500-1800, no serious replies so far. I am thinking about opening the box to find out the serial number, may be that will entice people, plus i am just curious if i got lucky or not. Is it a good idea

Got home from the family yesterday and FedEx had already tried to deliver. Apparently Sony shipped with FedEx Home Delivery, which for some bizarre reason only ships Tues-Sat. The wait begins again.

I won the IGN AU comp for one, but this doesn't really shed light on how they've been distributed around the world. A few other Australian websites had some to give away, and it seems they were the only ones available here.
I see these pics and think, I had it in my shopping cart, and it timed out trying to submit payment. I'm just torturing myself with this thread now.
I see a lot of folks here wanting to unload theirs, maybe you could strike up a deal and join the club.

That's amazing, good on you. I'm guessing the lower pool of consoles were probably the ones given out for contests, but only time will tell.

I really like this system no doubt, but it's a little annoying that it doesnt sit in the same direction as my PS2 and PS3. (the ports for cables are on the other side)
To those of you who ordered/received multiples from Sony store, did they ship each PS4 in its own individual shipping box (the ones that say CUH-1115 / A20), or did they consolidate the white PS4 boxes into 1 bigass box? I'm talking to a seller on eBay who claims that he got a huge generic box from Sony instead of the box that says CUH-1115 / A20 and I'm suspecting it's because he ordered multiples.
I got two seperate boxws for my 2 orders.
There goes that theory out the window. I guess I'd better not follow through with the deal.
