Kickstarter probably isn't practical for an entire series, but if it can be used to produce from small OVAs like this to Films, I need to see more of this happening.

I also missed the Kick Heart premiere at AX like a damn noob.

In for 50 bucks, might go higher if they give us more info about the limited edition blu-ray.

Also already almost at 119k, though it's only if none of the current 10k backers drop out again.

I understand people would want things like increased running time etc before an English dub. But, I don't get the hate, some people like and prefer having dubs, as long as it is well produced I wouldn't be too upset about its inclusion.

I would like a making of documentary and an increased run time first though!

My god, this is practically like the Mega-Tokyo KS. Crazy how quick it's getting funded. I wonder how they're going to balance producing this with Kill la Kill.

They should clarify some of the distinctions between the tiers (for example what's the difference between the regular and limited edition of the Blu-Ray) and they need to set up some stretch goals to maintain momentum but otherwise this looks to be arousing success.

I don't think a dub makes sense for the Kickstarter because it is focused entirely on the sequel. The original is coming out on blu-ray this Summer without a dub. If they want to dub the show, they should start with the original first and use the same cast on the sequel. Just having a dub for the sequel makes little sense in terms of consistency.

^ LMAO Just wait until they figure out there is free porn online. Hopefully this is very successful and it leads to more Japanese Animators doing more indie work.

Pledge $50. Might change it to $100.

Ah. I knew it was getting released, I had assumed they were dubbing it as well.

As a person who went in with really low expectations, this became one of my favorite animated shorts ever.....absolutely no sexualization of highschoolers as I was expecting, becaues anime is on a weird trend the past decasde, very Miyazaki-like, but a bit more fun

This was my exact take on the short.

It'll be interesting to see what direction Yoshinari goes in when he finally gets to direct an entire series.

This is awesome news, but I hope they can somehow add some amazing stretch goals. They are going to collect a metric fuckton of cash that goes way beyond the 150k they need.
It's possible if they can get $500k or more.
Yeaaaaaah boi

I hope they either go with expanded episodes or a straight up movie. I can see 500k happening with the right stretch goal.

$1,000,000 seems much more realistic for them to even up it to an hour in length. Production costs are not going to increase in a linear fashion. You have to think of the opportunity cost as well, they are a newer studio after all.

I wonder if this will encourage more anime studios to use Kickstarter. It may not have worked out as well for Yuasa, but Trigger HAVE to be impressed and probably shocked by the amount of support this is getting in such a short amount of time.
