LittleBigPlanet 2 confirmed, Game Informer info, Trailer released

Alright i've gotta find this mechabee.

EDIT: Wow...I thought the hook was going to be a cartoony grapple gun, but its actually a sackboy style bionic commando arm.

It can latch on to other sackboys too... :D

You can grapple and drag them around. The new slapping and pulling.

Speaking of mecha, how long until someone adapts a sackbot into being a "Metal Sackboy" rival of sorts :lol

*paging jump_button for Metal Sackboy vs Sackboy art*

Actually...that could end up being the main boss of the story mode, fighting a giant sackbot in the future.

Could make a nice saving move too. Miss that jump? Have a friend grapple you to safety.

Was chatting with TTP about generalised top-down...how to do it... think the simplest way would be to have a gravity machine, a tool where you can change which direction gravity's pointed in. So I can say 'gravity should point into the screen' if I want a top down mode.

However, instead of everything falling into the screen, orientated in a side-on fashion, changing gravity would also mean that all objects reorientate so their 'bottom' side is against the plane gravity is pointing into. So, with gravity pointing into the screen, objects would flip, so their top surface was facing the camera.

If you change gravity like this, sackboy would go from walking from side to side to 'walking on the walls' so to speak. As if he had gravity boots or something.

Having a tool like this would mean you wouldn't need any changes to the camera system, or the layers system. And it would mean physics would work appropriately, and sackboy and sackbots would look 'right'.

The only problem as far as I can see - and maybe it's a dealbreaker - is that sackboy's controls would obviously change, but also, and perhaps more importantly, the relationship with the layers would change. You'd no longer be able to go into and out of layers by pressing up or down on the analog stick. You'd have to do transitions another way...with a stairway object or something.

I am hoping they have something whereby I can apply a texture to an object just by selecting it with poppit and press apply. Make it easier for people to make levels. Thats where the whole youtube of games model they were going for kinda didn't work. A camera is both simple and complex at the same time. Apart from that I am excited and hope that in future LBP 2 dlc they will actually focus more on items than stickers.

Fake edit: And if I get a costume it should be in the poppit as a template, and then mix and match from that point instead of hunting down bits of a costume.

You can actually do that now with the updated patches.

Well I hope they have an actual gravity switch, just for making spherical worlds, or space levels where you can run 360 around a meteor. Also visual weather effect switches (heat haze, rain, aurora, etc.).

I'd prefer to have "gravity boots" of sorts, kind of like ratchet. Wearing them allows you to stick to designated materials, etc. and pressing the O button gets rid of the boots.

Gravity wouldn't be bad though, so long as they limit you to putting the gravity point in one area (i.e. you can stick the "core" of the level in the middle, which is where all of the pull will come from, allowing you to make spherical worlds).

As for visual effects...I'd really love that.

Yes, but here it should be a feature from launch. There are SEVERAL LBP costumes I have to search for.

Is this even remotely close to an issue? I always read this "at launch" stuff...are you guy's living in the past? I don't understand.

More equippable items would always be nice. As far as gravity boots go, i'd hope they would have that pull effect, similar to Mario Galaxy. LBP really REALLY needs some sort of melee weapon though. Dont care if its a toy sword, boxing gloves, hammer, anything.

Oh my God, so amazing. And I still can't get enough of the original LBP when I eventually pop it back in at sparse times!

Cropped direct screens, from newsoftheworld.co.uk
few are same information from GI.

Hopefully there will be different eye types as well.

EDIT: Nevermind, looking at the screenshots posted, seems like there will be multiple eye types.

How many more can you want since all the LBP1 eye types will transfer over (in which there were alot).

"Stream allows you to keep up with your LBP earth when away from the PS3. You can see a pal's earth, put one of their creations into your play queue, and play it when you get home.

All levels from the original are compatible with LBP2. And they even look better thanks to some up-scaling wizardry from Media Molecule.
The re-mastered graphics engine also adds a flawless finish to the artwork, which has different themes from Techno Renaissance to Fluffy Hi-Tech."

"We were also treated to a brain-melting display of new gaming. The 6-axis Direct Control Seat sees the circuit board of your PS3 controller on screen, which you change to suit a wacky vehicle. Basically, you design your very own control mechanism."

Perfect.

Oh I mean for creations (same category as magic mouth I think...it's been awhile), not the sackboy costumes. Say...giving an enemy reptile like eyes that track Sackboy.

Cant wait to see how the old created levels are spruced up.

I'm tentatively supper happy to hear that all levels will be compatible with LBP2. Tentative because that article doesn't feel like a 100% legit source to me for some reason.

The graphics look really nice.

It looks and sounds amazing. I can't wait. I'd love to see an option for a behind-the-back camera shift for Crash Bandicoot-style platforming.

Junior if these are direct caps from a copyrighted magazine, that means take them down pronto.

By looking at his post counts, I'd say he isn't a junior junior. :lol

I hope they work on some of the sharing aspects. I don't mind useless 'earn trophy' levels, but they became the most popular levels and just littered the front pages. I had ~100 people play my level and 50 hearted it and it was out day 1. I just wish there was a way to have people see my level, maybe half of everyone would have hearted it if 10k people played it. The level creation was hard for me as well; I kept trying to build horrible mechs and devices that didn't work well. I'm a coder not an artist and my levels all reflect that lol

BTW guys, a WAY less inferior "game news forum" (LOL) is stealing our information, specifically from a few posters here, so I would be careful. We are watching you blu-ray.com and we are displeased at your dirty tactics.

GAF > Internet > GAF

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but is the control tweaking just for the things Sackboy rides, or for the character himself? Would it be possible to create a replica of the 2D Mario control scheme?

The News of the World is a piece of shit tabloid so I'd take what you read there with a grain of salt.

even with photographic evidence that just shows leaked scans from an official magazine, meaning we shouldn't believe them either?

TRUST NO ONE!!!

I was talking about the levels form the original being compatible. But if that's been reported elsewhere then fair enough. Anything on there that you've read elsewhere is probably true.

Just realized we can make actual cutscenes with the sackbots.

Well technically you could make a sackbot with similar mario physics/controls and have a sackperson control it.

Just realized that...it says in the we can make MOVIES! And there will be notifications if you can watch or play that level on the globe map.

Also we've been talking about that the last two pages ( a convo you were involved in I believe) how you can now add your own voice and possibly music to these scenes and how that might cause copyright trouble (and mean we might lose that feature all together). Where have you been? Did you not think we were talking about that?:D :lol

can't say i love it. but i don't hate it. The first game had that movie effect thing going on. this looks like it may have removed that. BUT it looks sooo polished. seeing as they are using some of SSM tech. i wonder if they also helped them with some MLAA.

what's MLAA?

i think it's the AA technique that was worked on with GOW3. i'm not saying it really needs it in this game but it won't hurt (but then again this game is probably physic heavy)
