This is what I wanted Mod Nation to be! Can our LBP1/2 costumes be used in this?

Edit: Well this kind of answers my question...

"Will all my DLC I bought for LBP1 and 2 be usable in this game, if not it´s a no buy for me.

Hey OttoT, we’re currently looking into what’s possible on this front … we’ll let everyone know as soon as we have an update!"

I would have loved a Vita version but who knows, it could PROBABLY be ported since LBP has never really been graphically intensive plus it probably wasnt smart to announce ANOTHER LBP game before the Vita version even came out.

They already nailed the karting aspect with Modnation Racers.

They did. I love that game. It was like LBB of the karting genre. If only it loaded faster even after all the patches. I loved playing endless tracks, good or bad, like I love playing endless levels in LBP.

I just pre-ordered at Amazon, Kevin Butler, lol. I really hope all the character unlockables in LBP 1 and 2 move over. I have so many costume pieces, I would hate to have to buy stuff all over again, and probably wont.

VP cup and 'Excutive golf kart' :lol

This gives me hope that maybe KB is in the Playstation fight title game.

Put this same free-roaming/3D framework and engine in LBP3 and I will never need another platformer again. Too lazy to RTFA, did they confirm local splitscreen yet?

It seems to me like the intent is to have this be LBP in 3D, only in carts.

The video shows 2 and 4 section splitscreen, but doesn't expressly state it.

this looks great, btw, does modnation have car stats? Like different car handle differently, some with more speed, control etc? Os is every kart basically play the same.

Lbpkart trailer show there are various type of kart, some with hover etc, I wonder if they control differently.

Eh, I'll need to see more footage, but Modnation looks a lot better. The track/world design in this game seems severely limited in comparison.

They all control the same in MNR. They look different but they all function the same so its balanced. The powerups and driving skill are more than enough of a differentiator than to have to worry about "best kart" as well.

I hope they all control the same in LBK as well. Regardless of looks.

Wow. I wasn't really expecting much at first, but that trailer was fantastic. It'll be interesting to see what happens if that SEGA All-Stars Racing 2 rumour comes true; I guess this will be its competition if it's indeed released in time for Christmas.

Where does this leave Modnation?

I thought of it initially as a lost cause, but actually, it might not be bad if UF tried again at a different genre with the ModNation creations. There are some genres that LPB wouldn't fit, and all that ModNation content is out there. Like a Beat-Em-Up or maybe Sports game.

But I'm not thinking full-scale $60 game, I'm thinking like minigames that use the paid-for characters (think Mii-based or XB Avatar-based sub-games) for different things, something that wouldn't try to revitalize the franchise but could happily sustain it for those interretsed. I'm trying to think of what'd best use that deformation/construction engine, maybe ModNation MiniGolf or ModNation Marble Madness?

It's not just that. I really liked building 3D worlds around my race tracks in MNR and this game has more of a track floating in space with 2D props on the sides look to it.

I see what you mean. LBK looks more like a tabletop racetrack in a room, like a miniature train set. Whereas MNR was more of a create an environment in the world track. I think LBK can still give you the freedom to build the track and surround it with crazy stuff, it just won't feel like you are in a real environment like MNR can.

I am OK with that though, LBP as a whole is about these sack cloth dolls, so putting them in a full size environment would look awkward. I like the LBP idea of a tiny doll doing things in a small play size track in a realistic large environment. It fits well.

in the trailer there are section where you choose the suspension for your kart, I can see normal 4 wheel kart, tank, and hover. I think it's cool if each suspension have different handling, doesn't mean they can't be balanced. like 4 wheel kart have fastest speed, while hover have faster turn while tank have better armor kind of thing.

Hey hypersk_us, there are some good suggestions in there :)

If you take another look at the trailer, youÂ’ll see what is only a small portion of the kart types we are offering in the game. You should be able to spot a little bit of action from the bike in there along with a couple of the awesome hover-karts. iÂ’m blown away by where our kart guys have gone with some of these designs, weÂ’ve barely scratched the surface with whatÂ’s been shown so far.

Like you, the team here also loves some of the vertical gameplay offered by loops and other crazy types of tracks. I think youÂ’ll be pleasantly surprised with some of the stuff you will find on offer in LBPK :)

Well, I think it will come down to if there is terrain you can edit. Everything looked pretty flat in the trailer and screenshots. I see a little of what might be raised terrain in one screen.

Heh, cool. We wanted loops in MNR. I actually managed to jerry-rig a working loop in MNR (doesn't work 100% of the time but almost): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njM9vrhyoRY#t=15s

Severely limited? Are you joking? MNR was the boring/limited track design game. Ooooh! Grasslands and deserts and mountains! Yawn.

I'm sure, just like in LBP/2, there can be snowy environments, jungle environments, etc. or any kind of track you want.

I doubt it's like you just plant a track and then put props around it. I'm sure you can do that, but I bet there's more advanced tweaking if you so desire (building areas out of different materials, etc.) I mean, they made a dinosaur...

I'm worried that it looks like you just plant a track and put props around it, or there may be no or limited terrain tweaking. I don't doubt you can make your own props, but I want more footage to show track creating so I can form a good opinion. As a track maker, this footage was a bit meh, but developer made-levels in both MNR and LBP are usually lackluster.

Take a look at my tracks: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL61D27C147BC9EDF9&feature=plcp

MNR was limited, but creativity gets around those limits. The environments in LBP have always clashed with making a world and usually I have to choose the plain blue background because having a giant garden fence in the background can clash with your artistic vision. And the material look can be constraining at times.

I might get that. I've been playing Mario Kart Double Dash with friends for years, and it may be time for a new Kart racer. I tried Mario Kart Wii, but I couldn't stand the motion controls and the layout they used for the Gamecube controller was garbage, so we eventually just ditched it and went back to playing Double Dash.

If this is good, I'll probably get it. Although I do think they're making a mistake charging $60 for this. This is the kind of game I would buy day 1 for $40 or something.

Oh fuck yes, this looks amazing.

I was afraid they were gonna try and emulate LBP's style and animations, but fail miserably in an uncanny valley sort of way, like the LBP dynamic theme, but it looks like they borrowed animations and assets directly from LBP1/2. I'm sold.

I hope it doesn't have the terrible loading issues of MNR. LBP was great because even when loading, you were never *not* playing. You were still controlling sackboy and being all mischievous and stuff.

So... Mario kart 3ds customization + Mario Kart Wii tricks + Metroid prime grapple hook + Dull and lifeless colours + creepy puppet?

They should add some color to this.

Looks better than expected, seems to have the LBP charme.

If they fix some of the negative stuff from MN (load times) it could be quite a nice game.

Now give me a Hot Shots Little Big Planet Golf Sony!

Edit: Pre-Order Kevin Butler as a bonus? SOLD!

Load times in MNR were because of the amount of layers you could customize with.

It's like you people've never played a wrestling game before.

Don't you mean MNR customization (which is far deeper then Mario Karts one btw) + MNR tricks + LBP2 grapple hook + colors + cute and best mascot that Sony has?

Yes. Because MK3DS invented customization, MKWii invented tricks, and Metroid Prime invented grappling hooks.

Perhaps the saddest attempt at trolling I've seen here yet. Congrats, junior.
