this. they could have made the community much more interested in the game if they only kept releasing themed packs now and again.i mean seriously, this isn't the first time i posted in this thread talking about this, i just want my levels! >:|

I have some amateur questions from someone who has been playing the game for months. Occasionally i come across some levels which are 'copy free', how exactly do i copy these and where will they appear?

Secondly, is there an easy way to access all of the levels i have hearted?

:lol Wow alot of you are missing the point of LBP you need to look at the user made levels more you will not be bored.

and they added Monsters alot of cool new stuff like background and sounds and then creator pack 1 was not that long ago, that added a lot of new stuff global lighting, enhancement remover, infinite lives checkpoint

and we know the history pack coming and it will be more then stickers

a history pack, which will contain a library of visual material that alludes to Greek, Indian, Japanese, Celtic and American Indian architectural styles and characters including Genghis Khan, Beethoven and Mozart,

The copy free level will appear in your moon if you copy them, to copy that level it must have a section on the info about the level that says COPY, click there.
To see all your hearted levels, if i remember well, you go to the moon on the left, chose your levels, and with R1 browse the categories until you see your favourite level, you can also see all the hearted creator

There are a lot of copyable levels now, I believe this is because there are many Users that are unaware of issue of having their levels ripped-off. This was a real problem during the Beta. There is a level called Wizard of Oz 2, which is a good one to copy. Levels are copied to your Moon, the planet on the right of Earth. You have 20 slots on your moon for your created levels and ones you download.

On the planet to the left of Earth you can track all your hearted levels and creators, just select My Levels and use R1 to tab through the pages. The game stores the most recently hearted levels first and pushes the older ones to the next page. I think the limit is something like 50 levels.

You can visit other Users Hearted level pages, it is a really good way to find cool levels. Visit my level pages, my PSN ID is NickLaslett, if you search on my level Kid's East Fun, select More and then select More levels by this creator, you can then use R1 to tab to my hearted levels, if you tab till you reach my Hearted creators I have a couple of GAF creators who's levels and hearted pages are worth checking out.

Not just levels, GAMEPLAY. Give us MORE Gameplay possibilities like with the gun! Man, is MM rich by now because of all this DLC?

sorry, i've been online. I've searched through the gimmicky levels. I've seen the shit that most people churn out. The amount of MM quality levels out there is pitiful.

Mind you, I am NOT saying there aren't any good levels out there. But it really is a pain in the ass trying to find them between all the roller coaster/plays itself/H4H/trophy whore levels.

With all the "heart 4 heart" nonsense even this can be ineffective- if MM were to introduce a top ranking or most played listing it would still suffer from the same problems.

Isn't/wasn't there a community portal or something coming out?

they have most played and highest rated look in search, but some player maybe rateing them high for the wrong thing eg free shit give aways

There must be 50+ User created levels that I would rate as excellent and on a par with your average Media Molecule level. (A few of which are a bit poor imho.)

The are hundreds of good levels.

Peer recommendation by other Users is the best way to find good levels. The Cool Pages are a waste of time.

If you set yourself a target of getting a top ten score on some of these levels or completing them without dying, you are looking at some serious play time.

YES. Hearted lists also. I'm completely overwhelmed by great levels to play really.

.

I was really hoping that they were going to do a Ghostbusters level pack with the fucking backpack as a new weapon/gameplay element but nooooooooooooo.

:(

I'm still loving the game. The controls are still a bit off for me, but I'm learning to adjust. The built-in levels continue to impress.

Did a search and all that popped up was 'pinkzep'. What is the name of one of the levels?

He did several roller coaster levels...Disneyland 2, Dark Coaster, Fire Coaster, etc.

I log in once/twice every week and I'm ALWAYS greeted with fun user-made levels.

It's really amazing and to be honest, at first, I was skeptical. But LBP has become my game of this generation, if not of all time...

These levels that play themselves are AWESOME :D

They really need to stop "teasing"/hyping things that just roll out as standard costume packs. No-one gives a shit. Yes, great, some Ghostbusters costumes, well done. There's no point in drip feeding and teasing them at all unless its a big pack of some kind.

I felt pretty burned by the Team Ico costume pack to be honest. None of the sounds were really as useful as I would have hoped and the stickers were as usual completely useless.

Kinda depressing seeing how LBP is turning into a marketing device.
Unless we are getting new levels and tools

I still download all of the free stuff, but I haven't paid for anything since the MGS pack. I'm not sure if I'd be any different if I'd have bought into the create part more than I did, probably not.

Meh, those costume packs were always themed and they released that kind of thing since launch. LBP didn't become anything... and that's the problem. lol

.

Yeah I'm in the same boat....Release more stuff like the MGS pack with levels and trophies and I'll be there ready to pay, otherwise no thanks, I got more than enough costumes.

I think that's a pretty unfair comment to say the least..

As for larger packs and more tools, they take more time to provide. MM is still a small team. There undoubtedly is stuff coming but you can't necessarily expect it to be lined up one after the other.

The alternative to not releasing costume packs is to release none..would people really prefer that? To have no releases in between bigger level and tool packs?

I can understand wanting a 'bigger' release, and I agree it feels about time. But keep in mind that MM has a lot on its plate and there's only so many people to spread around.

If there any way to get DLC (free or otherwise) for a PAL copy of this game if your an American with an American PS3?

I have a PAL PS3 and a US copy of LBP (before the recall!). I order DLC from the US store using my US PSN ID, but I play LBP using my UK PSN.

Create a UK PSN ID and you can download all the free DLC. You will need a way of funding any paid DLC. For the US I do this with the pre-paid PSN cards.

DLC from the american store typically won't work AFAIK. A couple of 'foreign' costumes worked with my PAL copy but I think those were accidents.

You can set up a PAL PSN account and download free DLC from there, though. Paid stuff..I dunno, entropay might be an option for purchasing things on PAL stores from the US.

Its now been half a year since the MGS pack, and since another dev studio is building most of LBP PSP that isn't their sole focus either. At this rate, developments like LittleBigProjects and Online Create will probably only just roll around to celebrate the games 1st year at retail.

From the games launch, if you told me for like 9-10 months we'd only ever see 1 level pack out of them and nothing but costumes, I'd have filed that under the most pessimistic viewpoint possible. But here we are. They even have an un-used Seaside background and set of levels canned from development they could have rolled out as a thematic Summer release.

The recent LBP@Originals User Levels seem to be more substantial.

I haven't had a chance to play them yet, but at least they are named individuals:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6E7A82B19B108252

Sarah Burke - Snowboard champ

Lionel Milton - artist

Nathan Cabrera - graphic designer

INNERPARTYSYSTEM - US Rock band

A few levels created by Sony studios would be good too. They don't need to be linked to specifc properties, just be quality. Surely there are designers at Naughty Dog, Insomianc and Sucker Punch that would like to produce a killer LBP level.

I was countering what TTP said. I mean, He say LBP "became a marketing tool". I'm just saying to him that it didn't became so, it's always been like that.

Asides from 'themed' level packs that come with new tools or toys, IMO, more levels from MM are redundant. The community is providing amply.

There've been a number of updates, the MGS pack, and a bunch of stickers and costumes since launch. If anything I actually thought the speed with which the MGS pack came surprised most people (it coming by Christmas IIRC). I do agree the time feels right for a new 'big' pack, but I've a feeling it is coming very soon..

Of course I'd like everything to happen faster..but we know what they're working on, we know it's worthwhile (i.e. the online collaboration tools, the website etc.). It's just a matter of having patience and not being spoilt :p

Heh, from an outsiders perspective and not being too introspective on exactly what the DLC is, there has been decent (if not great) support of the game from Mm. For being a small studio that has been heralded for bringing LBP to life and then some, it's been awesome.

From a player perspective, it's totally understandable that we would be wanting more. Especially after the whole MGS/FF7 blowout, our expectations have been pretty high from such an early outset of the game's life. Even after talking to their US marketing head, he told me that Sony and Mm shouldn't have blown their load so soon with these two which obviously lead to disappointment in some of the community from the "lack" of big gameplay additions ever since the Paintinator.

Also, from what I've gathered, they seem to be pretty reactive in terms of DLC granted they do have long term plans already set in stone. This is why you're only seeing costumes, sticker packs, etc. But don't worry, game changing stuff is coming... just not this summer. It hasn't been a year yet, so let's see what else the community can come up with before then. :3

That is understandable..I do think the pace with which they followed up the launch with the MGS pack may have set an unrealistic expectation about how frequently such dlc would arrive.

You totally should dip back in kassatsu..even if just to check out a few of the stand out levels from the last few months. I jumped back in yesterday after about a month's absence and saw some pretty fantastic recent stuff.

Speaking of which..a handy tool that could track the hottest new levels since your last visit would be really ideal.. :)

You're right on the money. ~__^

The question begs is do they wait for the JP or EU release? :lol

I still need to finish my new mecha level. I've just been sitting on the level skeleton for the longest time.

Inquiring minds want to know... aside from the atypical puzzle/platforming action we experience time and time again with the game, what kind of gameplay do you want to see more from LBP using the current tools that are available? This of course is excluding whatever new features they add on in the future.

I'm still loving LBP but I fully expected to pay an additional $20-30 on level packs. Hopefully we'll get some additional official levels at some point.

a "non-linear" metroidvania inspired level would be cool but i do not know if that would work out well considering all you can do is flick switches and drag one key.

Are you talking about upgrades that open doors, a la wave beams, etc? I've been working on something in the back burner with that in mind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4NdAkBKjlc

It was originally supposed to be smaller than this since it was going to be a Samus-like powersuit, but thanks to the development, I've been able to push it a little further than what is shown in the video. Granted you can't necessarily have instances of jumping with a "power suit" built like this... I'm hoping it can open up more non-linear gameplay possibilities because of this mechanic.

The only problem would be the thermo limit for the level scale and the fact that the suit itself takes up a lot as well.

Yea me too, I was hoping it would released when FF7 was released on PSN but that was not the case. I want a Sephrioth sackgirl, er sackboy.

Many of you are touting the user levels as good alternatives to more Mm created content. To me, I couldn't care less about user levels. There really isn't any incentive other than curiosity to play them. I don't want to play levels to high five people over LBP with stars and tags.

What would give good incentive would be if Mm allowed items in our pods. If I win something in someone's level, you better believe it's going to be deleted as soon as I leave. I'm not going to use someone else's objects in my level, so why bother winning them? Well... I WOULD use them in my pod. People create some interesting things. Most people won't use them in their levels though....

Wow that is amazing.

I was thinking of within the regular platforming realm of the game but using a environment where the player crosses back and forth over the level in different ways and doing something in one area effects another.

Most levels travel in one direction or along one path with some changes. I am picturing something like Symphony of the Night where one of the first areas has 4 or 5 exits, some of those have more than one exit as well, so the player adventures through the areas a few times while exploring to reach their goal. Part of the illusion is starting the player in the middle of the level instead of at a dead end with one way to go.

yeah fun sure is a lack of incentive. Some of the user made levels are as good as Mm's and that is fine with me.

Haven't really played this game in a while, but whatever happened to letting the best creators charge for downloading their levels? Seems like they confirmed this feature before the game released but it never materialized.

Thanks man. I've been playing a bit of Super Metroid recently to get some ideas for a level similar to what you're talking about on top of implementing the mecha/suit. I hope I can get something to a decent scope yet still be somewhat gripping in regards to gameplay.

gi.biz have an interview with Alex Evans up, which has some interesting points (And answers some of the questions about different content coming down the line):

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/media-molecules-alex-evans

... everybody at Media Molecule is still doing LBP
If you look at online distribution for LBP, when the sequel comes along, what do we do with all that content? I think we can give consumers lots of stuff that you couldn't in a traditional game. We can give them backwards compatibility with those levels, and then when you decide on how you're going to sell that to them... all I'm saying is that we've got loads of options open to us, and we can pick really late
... we laboured a long time recently over the free demo we'll be releasing shortly
One of the things we're focusing on next is looking at stuff that insane - generally French and Japanese - people have built, and then making that more accessible, just making some of the ideas that are possible, easier.
The second side of it is that at the moment you can exchange objects via PSN messages. One of the original ideas that was axed from the original game was that you could publish objects from the game online, not just levels, and you'd be credited with the use of those objects.

I think something like that will really boost it - if you're just a beginner user, you can go and browse not just for levels, but for cars, let's say. Take that, sticker it up, and you're done - and that will change the barriers to entry.

So both of those things - changing the tools themselves, and changing how you share - are coming.

So there's certainly a lot of life in the game yet... and that seems like pretty much confirmation that a sequel is in planning stages at least, even though he says it's not. :p
