This is my first LTTP Thread and i was hesitant to make one on a game that's had so many but hey its not Spec Ops the line and i desperately feel the need to talk about my experience with this game.

For the past few years I've tried several times to really get into Dark Souls after getting it during a steam sale and loving the idea of it but would always get stuck at The Taurus Demon( one of the earliest bosses in the game). So for a few years i left my pyromancer character to just sit and wait for me to have time to really get into the game. Flash Forward to January of this year and i randomly decide to pick the gamer back up and hey what do you know i mange to dunk on the dang demon! With a big hurdle in my progress Slain I find myself enjoying the game a lot more.

A thing with Dark souls is people will tell you a lot about the game but also Insist on you doing things blind, so with em posting screenshots on twitter about my play through i had several people tell me about The drake sword while also telling me not to listen to the other people give me hints. Well with the Drake sword in hand i manage to beat the Gargoyles, Ring the firs bell and feel pretty great about myself. This takes me to what i thought would be my run killer, the boss spoken of in myth and legend the Capra Demon. I was scared I was anxious I...

Beat him on my third try. And its at this point i realized i REALLY like this game.

Going through more of the game i felt great even when awful awful things happened to me (I literally started crying the first time i was Cursed by a basilisk), but persevering and meeting such interesting characters like The Fair lady and Her Elder sister made me appreciate the world and how its crafted, my jaw hit the floor when i could see bits of the Parish from inside Blightown.

Having braved Sens fortress, Discarded my Drake Sword for a Lightning Spear, and made my way to Anor Londo I thought just one thing.....

"The REAL dark souls starts here"

And what an amazing time i had in Anor Londo from that one FUCKING AWFUL ARCHER, to discovering the amazing Painted world to the Climatic battle between Ornstein and Smough I feel more in love with the game then I could imagine, and then i got the lord vessel.

Holy SHIT does being able to warp around the world and visit new parts of old areas give me such an new appreciation for EVERYTHING in the game. The Battle with the 4 Kings was an awesome war of nutrition, Cutting off Seethes Tail and laying into him after the harshness of his Archives was a delight and making my way to the Catacombs and calming the Right of Kindling made me feel POWERFUL. I LOVE this game and everything about it.

So as of today I have about 4 bosses left. The Bed of Chaos, Gwyndolin, The DLC Dragon and The final boss. Sadly i haven't been able to really take advantage of the PVP stuff but i never really wanted to summon against bosses anyway i enjoy fighting them alone. I hope to finish off this game by the end of the week and man just what a wonderful few months its been playing this game, I feel privileged to have experienced it and explored its world.

Fuck Patches.

A war of nutrition, huh? You must have a pretty healthy Hollow.

That archer really wasn't a big deal on my playthrough. I don't know why but I was able to really easily avoid his arrows and take him out on my first try, and I didn't even know about him beforehand.

Lol at that first sentence Spec Ops shade.

It's my favourite game of all time so I don't mind. Yeah, the archers are annoying but you'll look back on the pain anor Londo caused you with a wistful smile.

Fuck Patches.

Out eating four kings should be tough. Your character must be a monster.

Also, I agree, fuck Patches.

And I am glad you liked the game OP. Try the other souls games next if you have the patience in you.

10/10 game for the first half, after Anor londo though it is obvious they didn't had time to finish the game and the quality of the areas takes a nosedive, a flawed masterpiece.

oh my gosh i cant believe i typed nutrition instead Attrition im leaving it in because fuck me.

Oh i totally forgot to mention this but instead of giving the Firelink shrine firekeeper her soul back i used it to reinforce my estus by accident and have been dunked on about it since

To me Anor Londo archers are nothing but a meme, never ever found anything difficult about them, you just need not stay still.

Such a good LTTP thread, I love hearing a somewhat new / naive perspective on the game since the actual community is so big on uncovering all the secrets and referencing all the known memes of the series.

Glad you like it so much, it's a really special game.

And yeah make sure you eat up before those 4 Kings, they will burn your calories like nobody's business.

The fact that (mostly) everyone knew which archer the title of this thread was referencing before reading it is a testament to how memorable the game is. Honestly, I've not had such a great shared experience with other gamers with any other game to this degree. The other Souls games and Bloodborne haven't come close, either.

Played Dark Souls 1 for the first time last week. They're much more than a simple meme. They're incredibly difficult to deal with the first time you encounter that part of the level. There aren't any archers anywhere else in the game that pose even a fraction of a threat these two guys do.

How many calories does an Estus flask contain? Protein, sugars? I remember wearing Havel's and drinking myself to winter while wailing on the Four Kings with a halberd.

I got stuck on the Capra Demon for the longest time. Picked it up again after a long break and played til O&S. Decided to take a break from it at that point.

In the meanwhile I played through half of DS2, finished Bloodborne and I'm currently very close to beat DS3.
In a few months I will likely go back to the first one and get my revenge on O&S.

One of my favourite games of all time if not THE greatest for me (Shadow of the Colossus is hard to beat :P)

No other game really sucked me in quite like DS1 and it being my first Souls game that I played, it's obviously my favourite!

I'm on my first playthrough of Dark Souls right now after never playing a souls game.
Just got into Blighttown. I don't like that town. Just a little too much blight for my taste.

Also, I don't like being cursed. Otherwise, boss fights are really fun. I still prefer the challenging fast-paced combat of Devil May Cry to this, but I'm having a decent amount of fun.

I found Blightown surprisingly.... Okay??? I think I died maybe twice and didn't super notice it being a technical mess like I was wanted it was. I liked how vertical everything was it was fun to observe the enemy AI pathing

They got me a couple of times but all I had to do was keep running, get on the ledge and then chop the archer there to bits. I imagine it's harder if you're not a melee character.

Just run past those fuckers. Its so much more worth blowing past them and getting to the bonfire than to try to take them down.

Which pendant?

I must have gotten lucky because I only died twice on those archers. I had heard how awful that section was but never really experienced it (praise the sun!).
It's a gift item that the devs trolled is with having some secret to discover about it.

Also playing Dark Souls for the 1st time before Dark Souls 3 (after completing Bloodborne and its DLC previously). Just beat the Bed of Chaos and Seath The Scaleless this weekend. Yeah, screw those archers in Anor Londo!

Looking forward to Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

I was trying to get into this again the other day. Still stuck at the Gargoyles. I'm learning from every encounter, but I'm so goddamn sick of having to make the run up to that rooftop and deal with those damn zombies for five minutes every 45 second attempt I make on the boss

Think of it as part of the fight. The mobs are a sanity check to make sure you're still thinking about what you're doing and not just sprinting to the fog dog.

Also, summoning Solaire make the fight extremely easy. Too easy, even.

It's my first time going through the game as well. Proud that I've only died 3 times so far, but quit after I realized the servers were offline on the PC version, and there were no more messages showing up. I definitely plan to come back once that's been fixed.

I was just watching some DS playthroughs (specifically IGN's Prepare To Try) and realized I never once regained my humanity or summoned NPC's or kindled any bonfires or upgrades my Estus Flasks. I missed a lot.

You can just run past them? And did you kill the magic fuck with the candelabra? He doesn't respawn.
