Absolutely ridiculous.

At first I was like "that's kinda cool" Then saw the game case wallet and thought "hmm that does look nice" then got to the tea cup and I was totally "I wanit Iwanit I want it!!!"

Who puts out a tea cup as a collector's edition item for a video game? That's just insane. And fantastic.

really the best game in the series. It's a shame they made apollo justice, they should've continued with phoenix or just moved on. :/

PW3 was fucking amazing.
When the classic Objection music kicked in at the end... *shivers*

That's the bit. That's absolutely one of my favourite videogame moments of the last five years. I think I let out a little yelp of joy when that happened.

I still think PW1 was the most well-rounded and had the best localization, but the final PW2 case and most especially the final PW3 case both easily beat it out PW1's best cases, IMHO.

Again, agreed. The first one's more consistent, but the final cases of 2 and 3 are exceptional.

God, PW3 was so fucking awesome. The way they set it all up
with the two flashback cases + all that went down in the previous two games
was incredible. It got you attached to the characters and the overarching storyline like next to nothing else in this form of entertainment.

Granted, it's easier to pull this off in a game that's 90% text and is basically a glorified interactive novel, but it still takes good writing skills to get it all right.

Still, reading this thread also made me realise how many details I've already forgotten about in that last case and everything around it. :( There's so much stuff happening in the plot, it's hard to keep it all well organised in your head.

How did Dhalia die again? Was it by death penalty or something going down in case 3?

btw, I can't imagine me being the only one that immediatly made the connection between Godot and ehrmmm....whatshisname from Case 3? I felt kinda bad about that plot point being so transparant, since it made the eventual reveal at the end much less impactful than it could've been.

Death Penalty. Edgeworth mentions it to you after Dahlia gets brought up in the final case.

And personally, I think that we were supposed to realize that Diego and Godot were the same person. I mean, they looked really similar, and they even played Godot's theme when Diego crushed his coffee mug. I felt like it worked well that way. (Also, I think you mean Case 4, which was the Mia vs Edgeworth flashback case. Case 3 was the restaurant case)

I had to look it up to see what the cases were again, and yeah. I think I rank this as my top too. So much flavour in this game.

I just beat the first PW for the first time yesterday.

I guess I'm pretty late to the party aren't I? I can't believe ppl are saying that the last entry in the PW series is even godlier than any cases in the first one.

I.......don't know how that's possible!!!!!!!!!! Fuck, am I in for a kicker or what?

Hell yeah. I envy you.

Phoenix Wright 3:

what was that called -- like, what was it's subtitle so I know what to go out and buy.

I played all the 1st one, and most if not all the second one. I just get the subtitles confused...

All 4 games are amazingly awesome, but 3 is my favorite as well. The final case really is awesome, though the final case in 2 did give it a run for its money at times.

Also, I'm in the Klavier gets way too much hate camp, I thought he was not only well rounded, but a nice change of pace from the constant "bastard" prosecutors in the first 3 games.

Trials and Tribulations.

T&T and is pretty much perfection for the current Phoenix Wright form. What a fantastic game.

I constantly try to recruit new people into Phoenix Wright, recently bought a friend a used copy of the original. That is one aspect I like about Gamestop.

Apollo is cool but I don't like the fact Capcom shoehorned
Phoenix in the 4th game. It really wasn't needed imo. Would've been better just to start a whole new series without the old cast. Still a great game but made little sense since I'm sure many of his old friends wouldn't stand idly by while Phoenix loses his license.

My theory is that
Phoenix replaced an already-developed character.
Helps to explain
the weird mannerisms he developed. Felt like I was watching someone else entirely, honestly.

That said, I really do want to see more Apollo.

i just ordered phoenix wright 3 on ebay because its NEVER in stores.
Just Ace attorney 1 and 4.

and now im not reading any more of the thread because i dont want spoilers

When I am in a trial, and I have only one objection left, if I make a mistake... what happens? Do I have to start the whole chapter again, or does only the trial begin again?

I am tempted to use a walkthrough or something, but if its just the trial, i wouldnt mind trying to figure it out by myself. Can anyone help please?

Fuck, I'm gonna replay 1-3 this summer to prepare for Perfect Prosecutor.
"GAF plays Phoenix Wright 1-3" summer thread would be great like someone already suggested iirc. Would be a nice excuse to replay the series.

Can someone answer my question about the 5 objections please? I'm holding off on objecting to something cuz I dunno what happens if its wrong :lol

PW3 was so bittersweet; the perfect end a series worth getting emotional over...although I didn't find Godot as charming as everyone else seems to.

And Klavier was my favourite so I guess I'm backwards.

Why don't you just save where you are right now so you won't have to replay anything at all?

I'll show support in every PW threads :D PW series is awesome ! Just remember to always play this series in the right order, haha

The ending of T&T got sooo complicated with all the spirit and who possed who BS that I just turned my brain off whenever they mentioned that part.

Still, it's one of my favorite franchises.

I`m not 100% sure of this, but someone on GAF once said that
Capcom forced Shu Takumi (the guy who created the series) to write Phoenix into Apollo Justice. In the beginning there were no plans whatsoever for him to be in the game. But I think he worked well. In the fourth case you can see, that he is still the same old Phoenix Wright, although more mature, and that he has just been acting like that the whole game

Bumping this as I too, as of last night, have joined the throngs of those who have completed the Phoenix Wright trilogy. My expectations were already pretty high going into the last case, but I was still blown away by the sheer epic awesome that happened. What looked at first like an ordinary murder of a kid's author turned into the most intricate and compelling stories of any video game I've ever played. I'm not sure if I think it's better than Case 5 of PW1, but it's gotta be damn close.

What I loved the most were the big reveals that the game subtly pushes you toward, but you still have to follow your intuition and guess yourself--namely,
Maya's the one channeling Dahlia
. I was simultaneously floored and relieved at that, especially since the game kept trying to make you believe that
Maya was dead
. (If that had turned out to be the case I think I would have boycotted Capcom on principle.) Also, of course
Godot's the murderer
. I'm proud to say I got that on the first try, but only because process of elimination said it couldn't be anyone else.

If I have any complaint, it's that the last case really got a little too unwieldy and complicated toward the end. It got a little hard for me to keep track of who had been channeling whom and where at each point throughout the night. My other "complaint" isn't really the game's fault, but I had accidentally spoiled myself on the reason Phoenix doesn't return for the next game, and I was mistakenly expecting PW3 to end with that. Since it didn't, my enjoyment of the ending was somewhat tempered (I wasn't sure if it was the real ending until the credits rolled). Oh well, it was still more than satisfactory.

So I'm sure there are threads on it already, but I'll ask anyway: should I continue on to Apollo Justice? It might just be the comfort of familiarity, but I feel a strange reluctance to continue the "series" if most of my beloved characters don't return; it sounds like a sequel in name only. After 3 long and wonderful games with Nick, I don't really want to try to invest in a brand new protagonist. Should I go for it anyway?

Apollo Justice is a good game. Not the greatest in the series but it has its moments and it connects to the PW trilogy in many ways.

Also, it has some of the best music in the series:

Go for it.

Obviously, yes. The gameplay's similar and characters do show up and play important roles (Ema Skye, too, woop!). It's also quite good, and you'll likely regret missing out later. I haven't played it, but I just looked at a character list for Perfect Prosecutor, though. It doesn't look like Apollo-exclusive ones show up.

Also, confirm that you didn't like the circus case so that I can hate you. *frowns*

The last chapter in Phoenix Wright 3 is in my opinion the most epic moment in gaming. My mind was blown so many times, not bad for a game where all you do is look at JPEG's and read text.

PW was awesome but the last couple of cases in PW2 were terrible, so I've been reluctant to play PW3. Someone tell me it is better than those PW2 turdlets and I shall give it a go.

You should. Definitely. I bought this game on launch day, but am just now getting around to playing it. I just finished the first case and it was fantastic. Even if the game goes a bit downhill from there, I am convinced there is enough charm for me to enjoy the new Apollo series almost as much as the Phoenix series.

Yet another reason Capcom is the publisher of the generation for me (and the best reason I own a DS).

PW2 was shit. It was a miracle I gave PW3 a chance... and holy shit, thank goodness I did, it's maybe the best text adventure I've played. What a ride! all the characters were awesome (Godot!), and the plot was great. Lots of exciting trial action, which and also felt interesting and coherent, as there were constantly good logic threads to follow and make you think. No sign whatsoever of the stupid twists for the sake of it and outlandish evidence that plagued PW2 (and the end of PW1) which didn't make sense and forced you to save -> throw everything at the judge (or psycho-bs) to see what sticks. Great game overall, felt like an awesome movie.

The last case in PW2 is hands down the best in the series.

I skimmed through the thread avoiding any possible spoilers, since I just reached episode 4. I stumbled down on the first game a few months ago and remembered I never played it and how recommended the series was, and gave it a try. Oh God, I was hooked. The game was far more intense and had much more meat to it than I expected. I knew PW:AA's 5th case was DS-exclusive, but seriously didn't expect it to kick that much ass. PW2 wasn't as good, but the game was still good and the last case was very nice.

Anyway, Godot is awesome. I too noticed PW3 makes evidence makes much more sense than the previous 2 games. Sometimes I'm lost, but when I finally find the correct evidence it usually "clicks".

I think its due to the fact that the game is 90% text that it can create such strong emotional response. The less "in your face" a media is, the more your brain becomes involved in the process. I get vibes from PW much similar to the ones I get from reading good graphic novels/mangas.

PW3 is great overall. Thought the end case was a bit retarded though and totally preventable.

How hard is it bind to down a child from calling a spirit, or even letting her in-the-know of the nefarious plot?

the thread title about sums up my feelings on the game

At least give it a try, it would be sad not to.

Well it is. Apollo Justice is clearly the beginning of a new story and not any sort of continuation. That's why it got so much shit.
I myself didn't even like Apollo when I saw his face, I didn't want to play as him or anything, but I just wanted more Ace Attorney action so I played it anyway, and from the first few minutes you can feel the overall style of the series is still there.

If you liked the gameplay, the writing, the music, and the courtroom-twists, they're still there. I actually think the gameplay side is more polished, sometimes it was a bit rough around the edges in the other games. Plus some new characters/witnesses are clearly worth it, and the new music tracks are totally worth it too.

If you liked the series, just go for it.

Those files are clearly PNG's.

I'm in the final chapter of Justice for All. It's definitely a bit of a step down from the first one, but that's like saying it's a silver medalist compared to gold.

I don't think you can really blame his personality switch because think about it, the guy gets set up in court and loses his license and has to take up piano playing for chump change. You'd probably be a tad bitter too
