LTTP: RTCW (pc)

I can't even count how many hours I spent on this glorious multiplayer game. Sure, it had a decent single player part as well but this is not where RTCW shines, oh no.
Online playing was ummatched: accessible, refined, fast, lots of options, incredibly funny maps. There's a reason people are still playing the same fistful of maps after six years..because it's so damn good

Take just one map, Destruction, and throw in 32 players: the perfect recipe for online fun. I've played that map for six years, I know every nook and cranny, and yet people are still having fun. Take one map, Depot, and throw in 64 players: online mayhem, and even more fun.

No online game was able to give me the same amount of fun I've had with RTCW, and I've played a lot of games. Maybe, and just maybe Team Fortress 2 is coming close But let's see what it will be in six years and running, because RTCW is till there. I loved that game to death.

so, any other RTCW veterans out here?

I used to play a lot. I had an old Emachines with slooowwww internet, so I sat there for like 10 minutes as it loaded a map only to get kicked because of ping.

Good ole' days

There is only one Castle Wolfenstein game.

"Halt !

Your pass !

I'm sorry !

AIIEEEE !!!"

Of course I don't know German so that's certainly completely wrong.

Anyway... it was a classic!

:lol exciting
my internet wasn't exactly fast at that time as well, maps took forever

I used to play it competitively, and even put out a couple of maps for it before Enemy Territory came out and everyone left RtCW for dead. :(

That engine was soooo smooth.

If anyone now suddenly wants to play this, I think it is free-ware, and you can download it at a few different sites. I downloaded this in one of those, "Best Free PC Games" threads, and have since gotten probably over a hundred hours of fun out of it. Can't remember the exact map name, but my favorite map was something like Oasis. Fun game anyways.
