So I bought this game when it first was released for Wii. The reviews were good and the game had a thread with an amazing OP that got me really hyped for the game.
Anyhow, I got a couple chapters into the game and went into a couple month hiatus for multiple reasons. After getting back into it now after hearing several opinions (of it being a disappointment or whatever), I'd have to say you guys are half right, half wrong. In the past couple of days I've unlocked a lot more and am completing Chapter 7 at this very moment.
Anyhow...
+Some chapters were pure gold. I loved the first chapter and the first boss (XD when its eye turns into that Wii Shop Channel loading ring) as well as the third (Francis, his nerdgasms, and the pixellated environments were great).
+The Underwhere with the River Twigz and the whole premise I couldn't have enjoyed more. I chuckled several times reading the text here.
+That star that makes you a hugeass old-school version of yourself. The music in the transition of that is ace.
+Great, humorous dialog.
-I find myself using Mario 99% of the time just because I'm afraid I'm going to miss something important in 3D.
-The whole damn Cragnon Chapter. I couldn't understand what they were saying half the time... although me and my friends did start calling each other "brah" instead of bro once in a while to poke fun.
-I can't even remember the other chapters...
-Too much dialog (like this topiX am i rite?)
*(not a plus or a minus) The game is pretty much an RPG in side-scrolling form, and not the other way around. I guess that's the biggest mistake GAF and myself could make.
Is this basically the gist of it?
