OK I just watched Terminator Salvation Director's Cut at a friends house (dont have a clue how he's already got it) . Never watched the movie before.

Maybe it was because I watched the movie with really low expectations, or maybe because I watched Terminator 3 not long ago (which was terrible compared to this). I thought it had all the good tools to make a good Terminator film, it had great action. I liked the half human half machine dude (who was the real hero of the movie). Kyle Reese's character was pretty good (liked how he used that shotgun:D ). Liked little additions like Arnold near the end and John Connor saying I'll be back :lol . Maybe they added extra scenes in the Director's Cut that made it much better (but I doubt it).

The only negatives for this movie I can say is John Connor wasnt that interesting. Also alot of the characters where not developed enough. Another reason why I think alot of people didnt like this is because everything was pure machine, people like to watch machines with damaged human skin (they looked so cool in the early Terminators), but obviously for the story they werent allowed to do that. Im not saying its an incredible film (not as good as the first 2 duh). But its was still pretty good.

I knew people wont agree, oh well

Maybe I'm easy to please. Another thing I may aswell ask here is Terminator 2 Skynet Edition Bluray worth buying. Does an old film like Terminator 2 improve much with HD.

I watched Terminator Salvation on the plane journey between Korea-Japan and back. I thought it was decent - it would have been a better movie if it didn't have the "prestige" of the Terminator name attached to it.

Thought the movie rocked. Certainly better than 3. Don't get what all the hate is. Maybe its cool with the kids to hate on it now or something.

Terminator Salvation wasn't actually a Terminator movie but it was a pretty good movie. I enjoyed everything but the part where CG Arnold kept throwing Connor instead of just killing him.

Personally I was dissapointed with T4, I actually liked T3 alot better and T3 sucked.

This.

T3 was a terrible terrible Terminator movie, but as a stand alone popcorn flick it was okay.

T4 was just terrible all around, even as a standalone. It was busting at the seams with shit.

You're complaining about realism in an action movie. Why not complain that Arnold could have self-detonated in 1, killing Sarah instantly?

Well I'm guessing you LOVED TF2 and Wolverine.

I liked TF2, thought Salvation was much better, and thought Wolverine was complete horseshit.

It's possible to just have opinions!

Couldn't disagree more. T4 was a mediocre Terminator movie, but a great popcorn flick.

To me it seemed like there had been a much longer movie filmed but it was cut to shit. That and the zero character development.

T4 actually set up an interesting premise and then it felt like it had to hurry to the end for no apparent reason whatsoever. Alot of films these days set up massive canvases but do fuck all with them. Had they explored the world a bit, the resistance the struggle a good movie and astart of another trilogy could have been made. Instead it was just crap.

No. Terminators cannot self-terminate, despite what T3 would have you believe.

I don't see how anyone could have liked this movie...

While T3 wasn't exactly great/good, it sure was a hell of a lot better than this piece of crap.

I don't get how they screwed this up neither. The premise had me interested quite a bit and the trailers showed potential. Sigh... Here's hoping Salvation 2 will somehow be better.

Sucked -- waste of so much potential. It could've been awesome, but the script badly, badly needed more time before going into production. At least T3 made some sense on its own terms.

I guess they could've done much worse but it's still terrible as a sequel. Sam Worthington was the only good thing I remember from it.

And I think it would've been more interesting at least if they had gone with the alternative ending in which...

John Conner actually dies at the end from his wound, and Sam Worthington's character goes under face surgary to look like John Conner so he could continue the fight.

I remember reading about THAT ending ages ago, and thought it was the stupidest shit ever. Then when I watched the finished product I thought THAT ending fit a lot better than the real ending.
I think overall the movie was average, but you could tell that people involved loved the franchise - just the little touches and nods to the original movie, but were not talented enough to come anywhere close to the original 2. In T3 not only were they not talented enough, they couldn't give a shit.

I'll definitely agree with this.

I really enjoyed the movie, but of course it came no where close to the original two. I thought it was a great turn in the right direction and was hoping for a sequel. Dunno if it'll happen now.

All I hated was the ending. A factory with steam and GNDN pipes? Again? It's the future. How about a factory with lazers and purple and green steam?

Its a shit film. It's plot ridden. Full of wooden actors. Boring action sequences and a mediocre soundtrack. THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS FILM. Nothing unique nothing special.

Yep. A pointless movie where nothing happens and no one cares, and it should never have been made.

I'm going to jump onto the "T3 was better and T3 sucked" bandwagon.

I did like the alien sounds the big robot made, though.

This.
The movie scale goes...
6-God-tier
5-Great, or so bad that it's great
4-Good, or so bad it's good
3-Mediocre
2-Subpar
1-Bad
0-No redeeming qualities, or goes past so bad that it's great, and falls into the abyss... AKA Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

T4 is a 0. T3 is a 3, flirting with a 4 at times. I saw T4 right after Transformers 2, also. My faith in humanity was at an all-time low. Thankfully, District 9 cleansed my palete.

I liked it. It's a fun summer flick. The criticisms of it are directly proportional to the awesomeness of T2, which is simply unfair. Of course it's campy and silly and doesn't make sense. The only reason we even care about this otherwise forgettable franchise is because T2 is one of the best films ever made.

Just shut up an enjoy the explosions, people. T2 will never be replicated.

There are millions of shitty movies where action happens and things explode. T4 is just another one of them.

Opinions and assholes and all that. I feel exactly the opposite about both movies. T3 was a an abomination of the worst kind. T4, while not a good Terminator movie, was a pretty solid action flick.

I actually liked this movie :(

I thought it was better than number three, also I liked wolverine... for entertainment value.

Side note I hated transformers...

Honestly it's not a movie i'd ever BUY but if it came on TNT or something one day i'd watch it.

But of course it can't hold a candle to the first two films.

That one was a little too obvious. I know you have to ignore some things in action movies but I can't stand the ones that insult my intelligence. I mean for god's sake you're a Terminator not a high school bully. Just kill the fucker!

Exactly. T3 was far better, and it wasn't even that great.

i dunno t3 always seemed to me like a SyFy channel sequel, not that salvation was much better (i think it WAS a better popcorn action explosion-porn fest movie) but having "Arnold" in T3 (plus coming off a sequel like T2) just really made me dislike T3 for some reason, (Elton John Glasses, and TALK TO DA HAND, scenes included).

yeah but as a terminator fan its nice to see big hulking machines doing the splodin.

too bad cameron never wanted to do another, while I dont mind titanic, you couldn't PAY me to see avatar, watching that trailer gives you the same feeling you get when people watch you play Mass Effect and the sex scene hits, it just makes your skin crawl, I blame the 8 foot cg furry-wankery.

P.S. the groaning idea was the best ever. Although some will say they had this in the press scene of T1, i dont care, its adds alot to them.

I thought the part where he keeps giving him a swirly was especially heinous.

Why they just can't stick to the future as envisioned by 1 & 2 and make the ultimate war film I don't know. For example:
IN A WORLD..... a small platoon of John Connor's best have to travel to Skynet, wipe out a machine, that can change the past and alter the future. As they travel further into to Skynet's domain it becomes clear that this mission will be one way, as losses mount and morale sags, the leader is killed. The mission is judged to be doomed and fultile, but one person believes and inspires what remains of the platoon to go forward.... that man is Kyle Reese
