I always recommend that people just ignore the sidequests. tbh the best stuff isn't locked behind them anyway. The main thing they're good for is speeding up grinding and unlocking some otherwise locked ruins areas.
it's refreshing to see an OP ask how far along they are and have spent 40+ hours, find out they're about halfway, and they just keep going instead of complaining

. Boss is 75, adds are 72. At 71 I got steamrolled. At 72, pretty much the same. At 73 I started making a good dent. Think I will level up to 75 before trying again. Wish I had leveled up more when I had the chance
but all the good Mechonis areas are gone now
because leveling in this area is kind of crappy and xp is too slow to come by elsewhere.

Just a tip: for quick one-time level ups you can re-visit the first dungeon in the game. I reached a new area there and both "secret areas" I discovered there instantly leveled me up on both times. I was level 73 or so.
Xenoblade is one of the games I really want to experience the first time again. It was always amazing to explore the new areas and to guess what new massive area will come next.
Every time I see this thread it makes me tempted to go back and finish. I think I put about 70 hours in, and just kind of stopped. Hopefully I can remember how everything works if I go back to it.
So Sharla is working better (thanks a lot, Melly). I've gotten him down to about a 1/8th of a bar. But as it gets toward the end, it's getting really hard to charge the Monado, which means I can't block his future attacks, meaning the fight goes downhill. I don't know what's going on.
EDIT: AHHH I DID IT
of course there was a 3rd fight...
I leveled up once during due to killing adds - not sure how much that helped. Mostly I think it was getting the luck of the draw. For example, sometimes I would wipe because the boss would throw out a level 9 art and I only had level 8 shield. I also forgot Shulk has an art to trade health for talent bar, although I wound up not needing it.
Time on my save was 78 hours. Also, the GAF member whose name is

Congrats. If you still hadn't beaten the game, I was going to suggest a Shulk/Reyn/Sharla party. That generally gets the job done for most fights as long as you're not super underleveled.
I was just about to make an LTTP and then I saw this thread. I'm at the same area
high entia city
OP was when the thread was made and around the same level. Loving the game so far, but I'm trying to break away from Shulk/Reyn/Sharla. Should I move to Melia/Shulk/Dunban? My concern is that I want more healing than Shulk's light heal, but Sharla just isn't capable of damage.
Also, I seem to be underleveled when I reach most areas. I don't do many side quests...should I start? Is it too late to start? Even though I love the battle system, grinding isn't very fun. I was thinking of using a guide for side quests so I can level up and get good stuff.

You really won't need much healing with the Melia/Shulk/Dunban, you'll take out most enemies too quickly to need it. Melia has massive DPS and Dunban has better DPS than Reyn.
