I just don't see why a movie like this needs a CGI filled climax, which is what I'm sure that tornado part will be. This is a movie that could have been done with a indie movie budget and filmed 100% on location and no green screen.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAAHAAHAHAHAHHAA

You literally pick a movie that is, by all accounts, almost entirely made up of practical effects + stunts and this is the one you want to crusade against?

Yeah ok

Looks incredible to me.

I really like Miller movies, Lorenzo's Oil, Happy Feet, Babe, all really great movies, and of course the mad max ones.

No bug up my butt.

I'm sick of CGI saturated movies, with huge CGI moments(I.e. tornado). They've lost all sense of "Ahhhh" & wonder.

It's a fair point though. Sometimes it's good to work under restraints. Just because you can put a big crazy chase through an electric tornado on screen, doesn't mean you should.

He literally picked a movie that is probably 80-90% practical stunts/effects to bitch about the growing problem of CGI-laden movies. And this movie has been in the works for decades. Restraints be damned.

Also, if he thinks this movie could be done on an indie movie budget, he either has no concept of money or wanted a really shitty movie

Fair enough. I still think you're exaggerating, though. :P

Live action people, to CGI landscapes and a hugely unrealistic tornado spewing lightning, with what looked to be CGI explosions all through the trailer.

No bug up my butt.

Your posts are a mix of uninformed thoughts and time-travelling/fortune-telling. This movie is touted to be highly practical.

You're one hell of a wizard

I'm just saying the trailer reminded me of Bay's work. People don't have to like it. Because...

And we're saying that there's really no comparing them because the two directors have wildly different styles. You're welcome to have an opinion/post stupid meme pics, just like we're welcome to wonder why you're comparing them when they don't mesh.

Basically what it comes down to, is you said something silly and incendiary, and you can't back it up now.

Agree to disagree then.

Simply pathetic comment.

CGI effects, explosions, the trailer screams Bay.

I already commented on the "filled with explosions" nonsense.

As for CGI, watch the trailer again and try to actually pay attention to it this time. The VAST MAJORITY of the trailer involves real people and real vehicles, often times getting into real car crashes. It is absolutely not filled with CGI.

There was a guy who made a classic action trilogy in the 80s using mostly practical effects and sets. Then he made a sequel in 2008 and swore they were making it the same way.

http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/indiana-jones-and-the-kingdom-of-the-crystal-skull-is-nearly-cgi-free/

I learned my lesson then. These days "practical" might mean a guy in a harness driving a real car but when I see that onscreen it might be computer enhanced within an inch of reality.

I also learned not to sweat these things. Its a trailer..the footage looks great.
I love the Mad Max movies as much as I love Indiana Jones. Hopefully the 4th Max is just a great MOVIE, unlike Indy, regardless of CG.

People quibbling about the budget "necessary" for this film should recognize that The Road Warrior was the most expensive Australian production at the time. Miller isn't some indie darling, and Mad Max certainly never has been. The first one was low budget because that's all they could do. After that all bets were off. These films have always been envisioned as big blockbusters.

Do people automatically assume comparing stuffs to Bay's is considered an insult?
To others maybe but not me, it's just that the two are not the same here. I actually think bay is very talented and he knows exactly what he is doing but this trailer doesn't have the bayism

Watched it couple of times already. I still standby with my initial expression.

Since you're just going to ignore my point about the little CGI and relatively few explosions, then there's really nothing more to say except that you have very bad opinions on movie trailers.

It's hard to beileve that this movie was anounced way back in 2003, this one has been a long time comming. The trailer actually looks alright, though I am not really a fan of the colour filters , but I can let that slide.

Climax? Try the 1st act of the film. :)

I'm late as everyone has already pointed that 95% of the film was filmed on location for 100+ day shoot in the Namibian desert. The other 5% was filmed last December in Sydney in the studio for interior locations along with some exterior shots. 80% of the effects are practical and real stunts.

Hey speaking about the dust storm and tornado...I did get some good news from Avalanche about the game. :)

Do people automatically assume comparing stuffs to Bay's is considered an insult?

It is.

Even if you didn't know that before now, the context of the comment makes such an assumption super-easy to assume.

It's also an overused insult in that often, the thing being called "bay-esque" is a comment less on the actual composition of the shots, but a more on how the trailer house cutting the commercial has made the film look - although often they don't realize that.

It's a pretty lowbrow/accessible way to appear film-snobby, essentially.

Haha I asked Christofer on Twitter that given all the environmental stuff like the sandstorm and tornadoes that I'd be disappointed if the game didn't have these.

He responded to saying that I won't be disappointed. :) So I guess thats confirmation that stuff like that can happen in the game.

Also remember how we talking about stunts and when Guy Norris broke his legs for the Mad Max 2 stunt and became stunt coordinator on Fury Road? Guess who was in the V8 Interceptor making it roll at the beginning of the trailer. lol

Apparently on the first try he got it to roll 10 times!

This trailer is hype as shit. I normally don't type like this, but what else can you say? It looks freaking fantastic, both out there and yet believable.

I especially liked when cars went BOOOOM!

PS: I hope he ate that lizard after killing it, total waste of protein and water, otherwise.

Oh man oh man oh man

....How is this fucker alive?! Quit it!

Midnight showing, first day- looked wonderful. I'm so glad its not nearly as desaturated as its pre-release pictures suggested.

I can't believe they gave him so much of a budget to do this.

This is going to be the greatest film of all time. Anyone who argues otherwise should meet me out by the bike racks so we can settle this by fisticuffs.

Beyond Thunderdome is the best Mad Max. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior is Second Best. Mad Max is great too, but feels entirely different from the other two.

I'm so fucking hyped for this movie.

Any word on if Bruce Spence has a cameo?

Are the original movies still worth watching for someone who has never seen them?

This trailer looked incredible.

The Road Warrior is one of the quintessential chase movies. Also an example of an action movie with no fat on it, something modern day bloatfest blockbuster filmmakers could sorely learn about.
