Made up shit mill:Final Fantasy VII stuff

I really don't get peoples obessions with a FFVII remake. My favorite game ever is probably Link to the Past, but I'd never want them to ruin it by trying to remake the magic.

Well put, my sentiments exactly. Why not just move forward?

It's a recent site made by a guy who's actually an insider in the whole industry thing.

He's not like surfer girl though. He was at E3 and stuff. They're actually cool guys. It's just nobody knows them.

You'd think that if the guy was an insider who was smart enough to get confirmation of something like this, he'd be smart enough to install wp-cache or something so GAF wouldn't crash his server.

Not to mention that you can't just simply remake FFVII. There's so much in the game that'd you have to change to make it even passable by today's standards.

They won't remake the game because it doesn't have popeye arms.
LTTP is timeless.
A lot of people can't play ff7 because of how it looks or whatever.

What makes FF7 a bad idea to remake has nothing to do with the graphics. Its the system. The materia system and grinding-centric gameplay wouldn't fly in the modern gaming world, especially with todays ADHD gamers. The system at the core of the game would alienate anyone who hasn't played the game before and make a whole lot of people hate RPGs because the idiotically vocal fanboys of this game wrongfully proclaim it the best RPG ever and thus they would never touch another Final Fantasy or RPG again.

Really, the only PS-era FF game that would work in today's market would be FF9, but even then they would have to increase the amount of AP recieved per battle and decrease the encounter rate so modern idiots could get through it.

A number of reasons

1. LTTP (In my Top 10 games of all time) has basically been copied before in every Zelda game since (minus Wind Waker).
2. LTTP doesn't have a story or characters that people attach so deeply to that have yet to appear in a real game again.
3. As someone else said LTTP is timeless. Graphics don't need to be updated, and pretty much have been (TP, Ocarina etc) like I said before.

Ofcourse. From what I know, FF7 is a massive evolution over the previous 6. (GT Retrospective, awesome stuff)

The fact is, if they did do a remake, pretty much every FF fan would gobble that shit up. And there are a load of them.

But if they do the remake and it's unpopular, it could ruin the FF cashcow as we know it.

It's too easy to mess this up; that's why I think Square will never do it.

Total fucking bullshit.

Why would Square-Enix release Final Fantasy VII on XBL/PSN when they can do one up for DS or PSP easily and charge triple? This is not what they do. Maybe (and it's a big maybe) VIII or IX, but VII would just be pissing money away.

Why would Square-Enix develop yet another Final Fantasy for PS3, unless they were actively trying to go bankrupt? As they proved with their DS support, Square-Enix follow the money. They don't owe Sony shit, and developing another exclusive Final Fantasy for them at this point would be charity.

I don't doubt we haven't seen the last of Final Fantasy VII, but this so-called "rumour" is clearly the work of retarded high schoolers/EB register jockeys who've figured out how to use Wordpress.

A remake would also hopefully fix the broken translation the game had.

EXACTLY ... I'm sure a remake of the game would appeal to someone who's never played the game before, but the majority of the people buying the game would do so simply because they've already played and loved it.

Honestly ... I would hope that IF a remake was in the works, it was one that didn't change a damn thing from the original except for the graphics. That would make my heart happy. I'm sure other fans of the series would agree.

XBLA/PSN wouldn't happen as it's a 'waste' really to charge so little for something they could get much more for.

PSP won't happen as it'd be the most pirated game of all time but sell poorly.

PS3 or 360 won't happen as Square have already said there isn't enough money for exclusives anymore on the new gen consoles.

Therefore it'd either be DS or PS360.

It'll never happen. One of the reasons that a remake is possible is cause they'll want to retcon all the AC/BC/CC/DC shit in.

I feel it's perfect as is, but would never turn down the option of having it remade. The classic will never change and I will always play and enjoy it. But playing FFVII with a new twist and beautifully done visuals would be a dream. I can't get enough of the world, so anything done right to add to it is welcome by me.

However, I don't think Square has the resources at the moment to take on such a project; be it a sequel or remake. Why announce it now of all times...

The second part sounds more likely, but XBLA? More money I guess, but that'd be disgusting. No fanboyism, I have both consoles and enjoy each respectively. But to play the classic on the 360 controller and with it's system infastructure, bleh... I'll take a controller that resembles the one I played it on all those years ago, perfect emulation and the ability to take it with me wherever I go. Besides, it's published by SCE and is THE game that made the PlayStation brand. Just wierd to play it on the Xbox. It's like Halo on PlayStation, but worse.

Square (as they were) seem to like taking big risks.
Apparently Spirits Within almost killed them.

As unpopular as it would be, it really wouldn't surprise me to see a remake.
There must be a 4:1 ratio of people for a remake.

They would remake it, update the graphics so it looks like Advent Children, and I can see them releasing some epic boxset with all the FF7 games and AC.

Yup, that is why the FF XIII demo rumor just makes much more sense. Anyhow, a port ot PSN or something isn't totally out of the question, but this just sounds like hogwash altogether.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

But they will. This is the entire purpose of the remake. The game will have some kind of cliffhanger near the end of Kadaj and the others from AC, Gackt will either cameo or merely be mentioned throughout, the Nibelheim flashbacks and stuff with Zack will be expanded to match that shown in Crisis Core (no more two soldier platoon, there'll be thousands), and there'll either be more Turks or an explanation of what happened to all the Turks from Before Crisis.

Not to mention some of the ridiculous new elements of plot that actually pertain directly to FF7 - do you know in Before Crisis it transpires that Rufus is funding AVALANCHE in secret under an alias, with the intent and hope that they will kill his father so he can take over? Get ready for that to become a plot element in the remake!

not necessarily though, I recall getting one of those Sony PSN surveys ALONG time ago. They asked what games I would like to see get put on to PSN, Castlevania was one of them and FF VII was another. This was early 2007 when I got this.

Still don't understand why Square hasn't put up the psx FF games on ps3.

Same reason we saw FF 1-2 on PSP, and 3-4 on DS already. Oh don't forget the GBA versions of those old ones too!

Actually, I just like the character and the pic is cool, even if exclusivity to cellphones is bullshit

I definitely feel like any game from square is up for grabs. I have a feeling though that the whole "not enough money" talk was just to pacify people who were freaking after the bomb dropped. It's not like Square isn't developing 360 exclusives at the current moment.

I wish this game would be announced already so that we wouldnt have a new rumor every other day, seriously

Of course, but he saying there will be an XBLA port as well. Anyhow he said this last week as well;

While, I CAN confirm something having to do with FFVII will be announced soon, I also have received the bad news that a FFVII remake is NOT the secret that has been rumored all around the net.

Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news, especially with the recent announcement of FFXIII not being PS3 exclusive any longer. I am sure you all know that I wish I was confirming it right now.

Anyways. Hopefully, I have some more info that I can actually talk about by the end of E3.

Between the wishy washy stuff here posted after Shane's rumor combined with Surfer Girl stuff, and the RE5 timed exclusivity being shot down fairly quick I still have my doubts on everything posted here. Hint of truth somewhere in the mix, maybe.
