Mafia 3 PC performance thread

unbenanntspu7n.png

Nope, an i5 6600k isn't going to cut it. First time the CPU is at 100 %. Huge bummer, don't know if I should just cap it at 30 and call it a day, since I have no gsync monitor.
Only game I've played that's pushed my CPU (i7 4770K at the time) to 100% has been XCOM2, before patches improved performance. This looks like poorly-optimized garbage.

So I have the following:

Intel 4970k
Nvidia GTX 980
16 GB ram
Gsync
Ssd

With that config what kind of performance can I expect with the new patch at 1080p?

Man what is it with 2016 and PC ports? :(

I''ll get a steam refund for this game since I think its a disappointment, but at least the development team said they would issue a weekend patch and actually did so, and not at midnight on Sunday.

There is a great game I think hidden under the bad engine and bugs here, so I think its worth playing but not at $60 on PC right now.

Hopefully watchdogs 2 delivers since this game was a huge letdown for me

i7 3930k @ 4.5ghz with 16gb and a Titan X here.

Game's a hideously unoptimised POS, but I've managed to get it to a relatively stable 55+.

Volumetric = Low
Reflections = Low
AA = Low
Geometry = High
Shadows = High
AC = High
Vsync = On

It looks reasonably good, but I'm getting the sense that for some reason, this thing is capped to 58fps rather than 60. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Minimum drops while driving, or in weather effects such as rain.

The game's reasonably fun, I guess. The shooting seems quite cool. Maybe further optimisation will improve it, but it's already leagues above the console versions.

It isn't capped. In several areas I can get 80fps, albeit I am at 1680x1050 and that was on a mix of medium and low.

I've got 60fps with everything on high except reflections on low and AA on low, motion blur off. I upped the reflections to medium and ended up with 60fps for the most part but dips down to the mid 50s now and then. The bayou seems to mess things up, dropping down in place to 45fps.

I7 5820k 4.3ghz, 16gb ram, 980ti G1 overclocked and game runs like a dream at 1440p maxed out (AA set to low) on my gsync monitor. Couldn't care less if you think it's bullshit. I'd rather have a solid smooth game than high fps with stuttering like most games nowadays.
Let us know if there are any areas that choke up the framerate.

With 5 hours of gameplay, what are the chances of getting a refund? Game is a technical mess. Will watch the movie later on Youtube.

I feel like this game is running in soup or something, everything is just a bizarre colour due to the lighting model. And I can literally see the textures draw in at a distance, even at max settings. My Titan XP is literally pinned against the wall with 100% usage just trying to hit 60fps @ 3440x1440.

The game itself just feels so loose and there's no weight behind anything. It's super odd.

Has this been posted yet?

Is very high quality like using SVOGI or some super high res volumetric lighting or something? That is brutal. Man.

Also those CPU utilisation percentages are, oddly, kinda interesting IMO. Completely debatable that it is justified, but it is super rare to see that kind of multi-threaded utilisation ever in game.

Anybody with a 390x have impressions with this new patch? Still on the fence if it's not performing all that well.

It's mostly 40-45 fps in the city without any stuttering and 50+ indoors(I'm running 2560x1080). It's fine considering that it pretty much never hits 60. Been waiting for patch, but gonna play know, don't think performance will increase significantly anytime soon. Shitty port to be honest, no way near GTA V.

Thank you very much.

Out of curiosity what CPU do you have?

I'm looking to run it at 1440p on my i7 2700k and I'm kind of hoping maybe freesync could save the day. I don't think it'll be enough though.

Seems like the CPU has a good effect as well as GPU. Got a friend running it on a 5820 processor and a GTX 1080 and he's telling me it avgs around 75fps with some dips to just above 60fps and sometimes a jump to between 80 and 100fps. This is at 1080p on his machine.

Post-patch, I'm sitting around 58-60 fps at 1080. Turned Reflections to low.

i7-4790k
32GB of RAM
GTX 970

I have G-Sync, so the dips below 60 aren't noticeable in any appreciable way.

I was fine playing at 30fps, but I'm enjoying the feel of 60fps.

No crashes yet post-patch. 2 crashes prior.

How in the hell...this makes it crash even more. On all 3 of the test systems

I waited until the patch to start playing. So far it's crashed while I was standing still adjusting settings, and it's also crashed during a cutscene :| I'm barely 30 minutes in and I'm afraid to even try to play the game anymore.

Getting high 30s to low 50s now, but mostly 42-45fps. All settings maxed.

970 OC'd
5820 OC'd to 4.5ghz
16gb ram

Only 50% CPU utilization max. Pretty much 100% GPU.

Ya this is insane.

i5 4670k, GTX 970, 16GB

Volumetric = low, reflections = low, AA = low, everything else high. I get 50-60fps. So the performance is mostly fixed, but the visual quality has gone to hell. Not that those couple of settings would make a world of difference.

The general blurriness and lighting fuckups are really harming the IQ. I've tried 3 Reshade presets and while they do look better, they're all just adding sharpening and some sort of vibrance effect. And every single one of them fucks up interior lighting for some reason. If you're inside a room and it's dark then you're suddenly playing Doom 3. You can toggle it with Scroll Lock but really this is not a fix. And of course Reshade eats the Steam overlay. On the verge of giving up with Reshade injection and just playing the ugly blurry low res base game.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do here?

No crashes yet and feels so much better to play. Hovers around 60 but the occasional dips down to low 50s but gsync definitely helps with that.

i7 6700
1080
3000mhz

Pretty disappointing port but the story is worth persevering, for me anyways.

Edit: playing at 1440p, everything on high except AA = low and reflections = medium

Damn, really disappointed with this game now on PC. Looks like I won't re-buy it as previously thought. Seems to be poorly optimised and buggy at times.

Pulling around 35-45FPS outside with everything maxed besides anti-aliasing, 55-60FPS with interiors. No crashes, yet.

On GTX 980, an i7 5820K, 16GB RAM.

It's not perfect, but plenty smoother than pre-patch.
