Claymore 113:

New claymore is out. I'm confused as hell though, didnt they already kill Miria? What the hell is she doing back at the organization again all not-dead?

The most I can assume is that the other Claymores faked their attacks in order to allow Miria to heal herself since she didn't fatally wound them. Afterwards Miria explained what the organization was up to and why she attacked, etc...

What's weird for me is, I can tell they're trying to make a point, but I can't figure out what it is. Are they trying to say that good guys shouldn't keep getting automatic free passes to win just because they're the good guys?
Just take what Najimi says at face value and it makes sense. Consider the main characters of the big 3. Sure they have the support of their nakama, but in the end it's their natural strength that lets them achieve their goals. This is nearly universally true of shounen battle manga (I guess FMA kind of subverts this).

Kumagawa resents this, apparently. He sees Kurokami and Co. as the embodiment of this cliche, because they have what he doesn't and they have it because they are the main charactersl. Out of jealousy, he seeks to defeat them to validate his personal ideals. Basically, this makes Kumagawa is a shounen Lenin.

I don't read Medaka Box, what is this that you guys are referencing as the "fuck you" to Shounen? Did the main character(s) just get owned or something?

Ah, I see. Well, this is true, but only a fool (or a child) wouldn't believe that power is what decides everything in this world, and its only rival is intelligence. In a shounen manga, a battle manga, it's obvious that of those two things, power will be the one that prevails. I don't think that's a fuck you but more of a "this is how it works" thing.

Of course, I don't know the context behind what's being spoken as I don't read the manga, but the converse is true. You can gain power through friends, you can gain power through hard work, and you can gain power through (minor and sometimes major) victories. If you take the big three for example, their characters have power, but they don't see their power as their source of power, rather, their friends/loved ones are. That could just be denial to what the truth of that panel is saying, but yeah. For example, if Naruto/Ichigo/Luffy couldn't protect one of their friends with their 'power', I don't think that their friends would say "Oh, well you don't have the power to protect me, so I'm not your true friend anymore"

But, yeah.

I meant it in the sense that Isin trolls WSJ. Whereas something like Gintama lovingly spoofs them. There's the sense that he doesn't respect the conventions of the genre--hence, the absurd power-levels, built-in retcons, and one-dimensional protagonists. The series just stretches everything to ridiculous levels, gleefully so.

Claymore: Continuing to overstay its welcome and continually go nowhere.

I don't even remember who Miria is.

Oh, I see what you mean. Even though I don't know the characters I get the idea of what you're saying.

Those power ups are so fun to read though.

Yeah but you know this rarely happens. Because it actually requires effort rather than just drawing beamspam. This is why every Shikamaru fight is a treat.

True. Shikamaru is an awesome the best character and the only reason I even remotely care about today's Naruto chapter.

Blame Toriyama, what are now the big three all drew inspiration from goku :lol

Animal X: So much rape. Rape rape rape. Rape all the time.

Ippo

I still find it funny that Ippo never has to worry about weight control even though he puts on more and more muscle before each fight.

Isn't he well below the maximum weight in his division? Keeping in mind that it is his natural weight division

Probably, but it still amuses me that while everybody else focuses on shedding weight before fights, Ippo's main training before every match is to add it.

Although surely by now with all the added muscle he must be getting close to that limit.

Looks like since one of the big 3 isn't coming out this week MangaStream will be releasing the other two earlier today. Nice.

Maybe that means I can get my Reborn! fill tonight, as well.

Naruto will be uploaded after Bleach whenever it's ready.

I'm happy. I'll get my riruka cover page.

Fortunately Bleach is first...though I hope Oda is alright, wonder why it isnt making it this wk.

Bleach 439!

ZOMG Kubo, why?! Wasting time with the healthy guy, caused the pages with the action to not climax before reaching the chapter, and now, Im left on the edge of my seat dying for more (and a potential Ichigo fullbring versus "book of the end" Tsukishima fullbring too). GAH! Sword looks awesome though.

Hopefully its not just a normal sword. Would like some more intellectual battles going on. Maybe it has some sort of time travel ability? Or teleportation? Going to certain places you've "set"?

Edit: Agh! This splitting the pages BS has messed with my autoloader. Scrolling down and reading the whole chapter was great! Now its gone though

Oh not just normal with some intellectual battles...hm maybe its like Kyokasuigetsu...I can only HOPE!!!

Claymore:

What an asspull, Miria should have stayed dead.

Fairy tail

Really liked teh tweest here with capricorn, is nice to see that this author doesn't needlessy prolong the fights between secondary characters.

Dang no One Piece this week? I didn't see anything about it taking a break last week.

Kind of figured we'd be in for one soon though as we've gone a long time without one now. Still sucks not having my manga fix.

At this point, I'm just putting off the "Aizen Smirk" as a red herring for any new character that we're seeing in this arc.

Bummer about there being no new OP this week, hopefully Naruto actually interests me this week. I'm getting a little tired of all this resurrection juitsu stuff.

I am so proud to have gotten another person to read this.
It's good, and I recognize that panel of Minato licking Yuuji in dragon form from somewhere but I forgot where I saw it.

The interaction is very sweet, I just wish it would tone down the socio-political commentary (which is pretty outdated by today's standards) and the rape.

Is the manga market truly that strong there, I dont even think we get those series here in CONUS.

I can't quantify how strong the market is here (editors don't like to tell how much they sell), but I have to guess it is strong enough, as there's a good numbers of editors, with 2 or 3 new ones having popped up in the last year.

Animal X: This is absolutely ridiculous. HE RAPED YOU. This isn't some shounen manga where defeat = future friendship!

Naruto is up.

Team 10 beginning the fight against Asuma. Should be interesting.

Ohshiii, samurai action. Next week's looks to be pretty good.

Let's hope he's more competent than those samurai we saw during the kage summit arc...

Bleach

Cool chapter. Loved that coverart Nice to see Orihime standing her ground, but I wonder what's happened with her, I'm about 90% sure Tsukishima isn't there to harm her, but instead to teach her/"hold" her until Ichigo arrives.

Anyway, dude's Fullbring is awesome, I think he might be an ex-shinigami like Ginjou and Ichigo. The big question right now is if he's in alliance with Ginjou or not. That, and what Orihime can do.

Oh, and I would love if Aizen was somehow related to Ginjou/These Fullbringers.

Naruto

Good god this is bad. I just skimmed, and I don't care nor know what the fuck is going on.

Ino and Chouji seriously bring down the worth of my favorite character, they're better off dead. And I wasn't even interested in team 10's segments. I don't know who Mifune is or half of those other people flying around. Why the fuck is Kakuzu running his mouth like he didn't get roflstomped, why are we even seeing him? HIdan was much cooler Is this the end of him with this sealing shit? ARGHHHH

:(

Darn you make Orihime sound essentially like a worthless deadweight. I guess it was a guaranteed way to get them involved with Ichigo (or perhaps Chad, since Chad seems to be having his greatest screentime thus far in an arc in Bleach).

lol, how? I'm saying that just like Ishida, she's a trigger to get Ichigo to further advance in his Fullbring training. Does this make Ishida a worthless deadweight? Just moving the plot along. I want to see what Tsukishima will have to say to Orihime if anything, I'm sure it'll be important to the readers. Like I said, I don't think he's a bad guy.

It's better that she stood her ground, but I mean, this is the same opponent that hacked off Ishida's arm in what was probably one fell swoop, so yeah.

Like I've said before; I like Orihime's character. She doesn't try to be what she isn't, cares about her friends, and wants to help when she cans. And while her love for Ichigo is annoying at times, it's not like its misplaced or anything. Her powers are also the most mysterious (and possibly most interesting, especially if she could have fullbring in store for her) up to this point out of all of Ichigo's compatriots.
