Fairy Tail 225
Well Ultear continues to look stunning:)

Cana is finally taking action and assuming her predestined role in this chapter, a mildly enjoyable chapter I guess. I hope to get my Natsu Zeref team up and some Gray action!

Arent you expecting too much though, he still in grade school, and I thought he was selected to be successor because of just the way he already is.

He's hardly ever like that, though. Plus, I'm not expecting too much, I did say this:

But you know, there is a big big difference between normal Tsuna in chapter 50 and normal Tsuna (as there should be) in 250. He's still resisting the mafia lifestyle but he's definitely changing.
The big problem is what Enma talked about: He seems to man up when it comes to his 'friends' but when it comes to confronting anything else he can't seem to be able to man up about it. It's annoying that he's been through two big things (Ring conflict, Future Adventure) and still can't accept what he is and has to be.

At first it was funny, I remember watching the first few Hitman Reborn episodes/Reading the manga and saying "I can accept a protagonist that is this much of a little punk, because I know that means he's going to be a badass in about 300 chapters"...low and behold in the beginning of the Shimon/Inheritance arc he's still getting his ass kckied by bullies at his school, that makes no sense. I liked my protagonist to have a kind heart and be a dumbass around his friends, but that doesn't mean he has to constantly pussy out. Imagine if he was in his hypermode self all the time.

And this doesn't mean he has to be totally serious/mean/strict all the time like say Hibari, just take Primo for example, big heart, great boss, looked badass. I'm just saying the progression should be further along than it is. I know we'll get there, but at this rate how long is it going to take? The fact that the kid denied the 9th when he first came to him to be boss after what he's been through is bad enough. I'm saying that with a timeskip its much more reasonable for him to be more Primo-Like less "dumb Tsuna like"

Maybe because you kept comparing it to Crows and Worst? I remember you posting about those a lot and Kamishiro is nowhere near as manly a main character like the ones in those two.

I really should pick up Worst again.

I don't know. It's tough to compare the two types of series, people say "oh, Holyland is a delinquent manga", but I don't know that I agree with that. I remember just initially reading it and thinking it was good because of the way it explains moves and why hitting or defending a certain way had caused the reaction that it did. I also liked how Kamishiro's training and background was shown. The pacing and setup for the fights is good, and they come to logical closure for a series that's pretty firmly based in realistic fight presentation.

But I think what killed it for me is his mental dialogue with himself. "My special place" or whatever the line is, over and over and over and over. It's like all the training and the confidence he should've gained by being able to fend off attackers did nothing to actually develop his character beyond a scared little kid. Not that he necessarily needed to be cocky or talk smack, because that's what separates him from the people he's generally fighting, but he doesn't need to try and channel the spirit of Shinji from Evangelion, either. It's hard to get behind a character like that and root for them to win.

But to go back to the CxW thing, it's apples and oranges. I could see Holyland really drawing in people who enjoy sparring and actual useful fighting techniques, and it's a more serious story overall. CxW's sometimes-comedic/sometimes-serious turf war story is presented in a totally different manner. People getting punched through walls or down streets, over the top rockabilly fashion, etc. I feel like it's its own thing.

New Worst chapter should be up fairly soon btw, I think the new one just came out March 4th or something.

Fairy Tail

Ultear trying to show what she can do and rationalize her off panel win against Zeref.

Lets see if Natsu will do his usual pull shit from ass to get more power.

As for Cana there must be some other reason shes doing this right?, i mean the exam means jack shit right now imo.

and lol at everyone barely surviving their ordeals.

Probably, they were alluding to if she doesn't become S-class .... cue shocked Lucy. Still fuckin stupid to knock her out though.

Mebius Gear

Just started this. First chapter was pretty awesome. There's like these machine people that possess humans or something and kill their lover. The main dude sends out love letters at random at his school to find out who it is. It's badass as hell. Also, the main girl is probably the most ridiculous case of obfuscating stupidity I've ever seen.

I've finished reading it last month. It's not bad, but the end is totally disappointing and the explanation for things is a bit meh.

Well that sucks. Guess I'll be prepared when that group finally decides to scan the rest.

Kuragehime volume 3 was just as good as the previous two. Tsukimi even ends looking a little cute for more than just a couple panels.
Seeing Kuranosuke getting his mind fucked over by what he was about to do was amusing, but the best part of the volume was the part about the dresses. If that project goes well, I'll be happy.

Fairy Tail

Cana knocking out Lucy and leaving her alone when she knows that Grimoire Heart is attacking is incredibly stupid. I'm sure there will be an explanation why she's doing all this, but it's still a really shitty thing for her to do.

To Love-Ru Darkness
I'm a fan of the Yami x Mikan pairing so I enjoyed this chapter quite a bit. The fight was quite good and it looks like there'll be more in the future, which is good. Also I've never read a shonen series with this much nudity and this many sexual acts.

I forgot how much fanservice to-love-ru had but darkness just amps it up by a hundred.

Is it weird that I have and am disappointed it isn't more prevalent in manga (that I know of)?

Depends, do you think about using your intestine to choke people with on a daily basis?!

It's pretty much the only manga I can remember reading in recent memory where, in the middle of a shounen-style battle, they still manage to create a scenario where the protagonist's face was forced into his middle-school aged sister's pantsu.

but it is something I've used in my writing before.

I didn't realize pillow fights got so intense.

It was you that wrote that pillow fight story right?

You guys XD

I've started reading to love-ru, and I like that those tits have nipples. It's so bothersome when normal manga shows tits without nipples in a self censoring act.

I dropped TLR early on, but Darkness has kept my attention. Momo is manly, and a bro.

And how almost every panel has a pantyshot is hilarious. Kentaro's art of drawing tits and ass is so refined now.

lol this kinda cracked me up, whats you're stance on conveniently placed soap or steam?

Doesn't bother me too much, as long as fanservice isn't a top priority of the manga. If it is, then it becomes bothersome, because it's half-assing it for me!

Finished Parasite Pal and the ending was ok. Everything was resolved in a good way, although the awkwardness of the main characters never went away as far as relationships go.
I believe it could have been a little darker in the middle, but it's also cool that the foreshadowing of Rika succesfully getting Ikeno raped never materialized, or I would have been forced to hate Rika.

Tensai Family Company

This is an an old josei by the Nodame mangaka and it is quality stuff. The scanlations for it have apparently been dead for a while and that was terrible point to stop at. I really hope someone else picks this up, I really want to see how the story develops.

Aphorism

That was pretty good. I don't really like the main character though, even the side characters are more interesting than him.

Just read Bakuman

Nakai is an fat piece of shit, water is wet, sky is blue, etc.

Another great Hiramaru segment. When they switched to Ashirogi I was like "Wtf?"...Hope we see more of him + Aoki in next chapter.

I don't even care about Nananime anymore. Dumbshit for lying to his team, and I'm not buying Nakai's redemption. Kosugi started to get under his skin though.

Next chapter: Eiji/Hiramaru/Fukuda exclusively! <---- This is what I want. Fuck off Ashirogi, until you get your next Money and intelligence.

Melody´s powers are to convenient for Erza. Erza will suddenly have a magic armor and defeat Melody.

Aside from the fact that she can seemingly harm characters that would normally be protected (As seen with Lluvia) how exactly are they "too convenient for Erza" ?

It kinda seems like another classic case of strangely fitting fairy tail villain syndrome as Erza generally gets characters based around more traditional weapons like swords, spears etc;

But I don't exactly see how this translates into "convenient" any more than ... well, anyone else we've seen so far.

Riki-Oh Volume 1

Bwahahaha, this is glorious. I am drowning in all the testosterone. I could not stop laughing at the tactical harakiri.

I'm honestly amazed you haven't read this already! This is definitely the most ridiculous manga I've ever read, but it's so over the top that I couldn't go "man, this is just stupid" because I was too busy wondering what would happen next. So bad that it's beyond great.

Also, Washizaki (I think that's his name?) is a very very blatant inspiration for M. Bison/Vega. His character select picture is definitely lifted from this manga.

The way Cana is urgently trying to become a S class, I feel only disapointment when it'll finally be explained why.

I know what you are saying. She has shown a poor judgement, which is unfit for an S class. But by the end of this arc, she will become an S class. I bet several people become S class also.

How much are you willing to bet? If everyone is essentially uniting then how could several people become S class?

Riki-Oh Volume 4

I'm going to guess right now that
Washizaki is his brother. I mean why else would he wears gloves?

How are they uniting? Everyone is fighting different enemy. They are away from each other.
Well Cana, before the start of the exam said that she wants to be an S class mage, and if she failed she will leave Fairy Tail. Mashima will not let that happen. So, she will be an S class.
After Natsu defeated Zancrow in front of Makarov, he is very likely he will be a S class mage after this arc is over. Others will still have the opportunity to become S class when we see them in the upcoming chapters.

It says it right here. They're uniting.

I do not think strength and defeating a powerful opponent is enough to warrant someone becoming S class in the arc to be honest.

I know it was mentioned in this chapter. But can they reunite if the each of them are fighting different enemies at different locations. For instance i don´t think Natsu can unite with the rest of them without defeating Ultear, which seems extremely difficult thing to do especially since he fought Zancrow. They ones who are still fighting, ie Natsu and Erza can not turn their backs on their enemies, if they want to reunite. I hope you understand what i mean.

I do not think that they mean to physically unite, but to instead unite in spirit and in mind. Fairy Tail is a family no matter how close nor far apart they are.

I honestly do not think Ultear would be defeated, the manga would be decreasing its number of recurring antagonists.

I would actually like it better if more than one person becomes S-class.

To begin with, it's retarded for the test to be a tournament. S-class is just a measure of a certain skill level, completely objective and outside the relative strength of a guild.

Not to mention in Fairy Tail there are multiple mages worthy of the class.

It would be horseshit if the old man still decides to pull an S-rank out of this (can pull the "this was unexpected but it was a good test anyways").

Either everyone gets it or none at all (though Cana's retarded actions is really affecting the former choice right now).

Everyone gets it?! I dont think that would be a good conclusion, that is 8 competitors (Natsu,
Gray, Cana, Elfman, Levy, Fried, Mest, (heh), Juvia), some of these arent even deserving of it. Im still going with the obvious conclusion from the build-up to it that we were set up with from the beginning of the arc with Cana, she'll probably do some heroic action to deserve it.
