Welp.. I bought the Wii U Premium Bundle with Legend of Zelda: WW for 259e... Just for this game ( and Smash Bros. ). I just couldn't resist. I have always loved Mario Kart - SMK and MK64 are some of my most played games of all time. MK Wii and Double Dash got decent playtimes as well. Can't wait now. I'm back, Nintendo!
Yeah that's true hopefully there's a solid boost. I just really enjoy the Wii U for all it's faults so I like seeing these pre-release numbers. When they don't pan out it stings a bit. But regardless a great game is coming and hopefully more people get to enjoy it

Man, wish we could get them in sticker form or something like that, having those in the back of the car would be the coolest thing!
Pretty much all of this is in the game in some form. Some will be stamps probably.

Gotta say, after seeing the new RR and watching a full lap, I'm liking it more and more, same goes for the music. Sure it's still not the "HOOOOLY ♥♥♥♥ WHERE IS THIS TRACK GOING?" type of design I was expecting, but it still looks very nice. The space station continues to look glorious to me (Blooper Starship ftw), and really that's only a small part of the track, everything else is rainbow. And about that, I like how the entire road gradually changes to different colors and tints. Plus during the dual path part, the track does get quite narrow, where I can see it probably being hell for multiple drivers. That feeling of what could've been will annoyingly linger for a bit, but I'm fine with what we have. Of course, I gotta play it and what-not.
Only thing I can really hope for at this point is if the track magically changes on the final lap.

Just like the Birdo banner in Royal Raceway and Dry Bones in the background in Bowser's Castle.
I'm pretty sure we already know the full roster.

I am wondering about this for a lot of the courses actually... Most of them we have only seen a single lap. I noticed on the Bowser's Castle first lap, there were no laser beams from the Bowser statues at the start of the race that we saw in the trailer. I'm curious to see what kind of surprises they have in store in later laps!

iirc, Mario Kart 7 had all its characters revealed prior to launch and it had no DLC. How are you so sure?
We already know there's unlockable characters.
You only start with 16 of the 30 character roster.

Probably due to the omission of so many veterans who've become mainstays in the home console Mario Karts.
As i mentioned in another thread, is it will be a different experience from all other tracks. About 75% of the race will be in anti-gravity mode, and the track is fairly narrow. So it'll be hectic with 12 players bumping into each other gaining speed boosts. Has the potential to be really fun. I also like the tone of the colors of the rainbow. Has a cool temp vibe, and i think fits the song well.
Its also neat it makes you feel like you're racing above earth, and the rr64 is above a city. So the game gives a sense that all these tracks are from the same world, with MKTV being everywhere to capture it.

Amazon most likely won't get the MK8 Bundle, they aren't even selling the regular Wii U themselves, its from another seller and fullfilled by Amazon. The MK8 bundle is being sold at Gamstop though, and the bundle jumped from 24th to 11th on the best seller list today. Mario Kart 8 itself is also 3rd on their best seller list.

Edit: Nope, that's just not right for us, mere mortals, Nintendo. Why do you open the Miiverse community already!? Knowing there's people out there already enjoying MK8 and not me makes me mad :'(( But I guess it's a smart move so those lucky guys can up the hype even more by showing more screenshots and comments.

Don't know, but my guess would be 2 weeks before the game comes out, like it was the case for other games like 3D World, Wind Waker HD and A Link Between Worlds.
This is definitely the worst DK of all time...and that's saying much. Rare gave DK an incredible personality, surrounded by the eerie, dark, realistic environments of the SNES games. Rare left and Nintendo transformed DK into a joke character with the silly smile and dumb voice.
and then Retro culminated the character's destruction
(Tropical Freeze is an incredible game though)
I will always remember DK as this:

The old renders look like crap compared to the new ones IMO.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to mark yourself as a gaming "journalist" and get review codes.
I mean, look at Nintendomination. I'm pretty sure it's just one guy and he only has a youtube channel.

4.2 GB is the download size.
Once installed, it takes 4.9 GB. This was already confirmed on the official Japanese website.
