I will say this though...Colleen's fight scenes are shit so far. Her ground and pound looked soooooooo bad.
You do realize this is the actual history of Iron Fist right? Harold Meachum killed his father. He sabotaged a trek to the himalayas to find Kun Lun in the comics. Its not arrow again its Iron Fist's actual character history.
This is the character you came here to see folks. Show is fine. He's not a guy who has villains or a lot of crime in his origin story to go out and fight. He wasn't a dude driven to defend folks like Daredevil. He was a guy seeking to right the thing done to him that cost him his family and the life he knew that resulted in his eventual training to become the Iron Fist.
Sucks folks can't get this. Plus all the talk about why isn't he asian is also right up there on the list of "things folks say when they have ZERO idea about who the character is". White dude, out of place in a mystical city, everything he had lost, he's out of place in their world but trains to the top of it and leaves to reclaim his own place in the world he came from. Its why you're getting the "asian culture through a white guy" thing. He's that out of touch dude who is awkwardly stuck between who he was born to be and who he became when thrust into a world he didn't belong in.
Iron Fist isn't a guy who is a distilled pure character who bleeds nothing but the culture. He's a guy who became a part of that world due to circumstance and it left him unable to operate like everyone else back in the world he came from. He's out of place...thats his thing folks. Iron Fist's thing is that he always feels out of place in both worlds because of who he is, what he became and trying to balance the two. Actually learn the source material. By all means though just throw a big asian guy with nunchuk out there or something fighting ninjas who stole relics from his culture or something. Its a nice aesthetic but its not the story your casting for folks. You'd have a martial arts hero like folks seem to want but you sure wouldn't have anything resembling Iron Fist, his character or its history.
You tune in for Iron Fist try actually EXPECTING to get Iron Fist next time.
It's nowhere near 19% (was at one point 12%) awful. It's easily a high 40%.
No. And Metacritic is scoring it higher FYI.
That scene might have worked if the bully kid didn't look so old. It was like a 19 year old bullying 10 year old children, lolWhat the hell was with that scene that was so laughable, i get the point but that scene was funny not in a good way

That's the long and short of it. I knew dick about Jessica Jones and wasn't a fan before the show. I watched it because it was a marvel show. I don't know about iron fist's popularity other than I'm sure he has more name recognition than JJ, but I think the vast majority of people that watch these shows don't have intimate knowledge of the characters and just want to see some cool marvel shit and watch a good show.At the end of the day, what matters to me is whether or not the show is engaging or a slog to get through. So far it's been the latter, with few positives such as Colleen and Harold, and noticeable negatives such as the mediocre fight scenes. That sucks in particular, because from the beginning I was hoping I'd have that to look forward to so that it'd be easier to overlook any of the show's shortcomings.
Yeah, thats what I meant. Its awful. They should have him do Kung-Fu and meditating and thats it, not talking about Buddishm and stuff all the time
I sort of love it because whilst everyone I knew was doing Karate I was doing Lau Gar and Win Chun Kung Fu. They were learning how to hit something hard, I was learning how to avoid being hit. It came to a head in 6th form (English) when an Alpha decided he could hit me without consequence, I moved aside and kicked him with my left foot, he got up and swung again whilst screaming unintelligible nothings, I then kicked him with my right foot, he was on the floor for a good 5 minutes. The headmaster came out and was literally trying not to laugh, he'd just seen one of the school bullies get his ass kicked and he actualy loved it. There was a reason why Cobra-Kai failed, anyone who has actually done martial arts knows this. Years later I moved into full contact Karate and learnt lots, but I learned the most from boxing, most important fighting style anyone should learn. All this is fantasy, I've met people with no training who terrify me, I've met people from spec ops and thought "I could take him" I'm at the point where I'm so drunk I don't actually remember the point I was trying to make, or indeed why I'm making it. It's St Patricks day ya cunts, and I'm Half irish! XXX
... i think you're misunderstanding how the tomatometer works on rottentomatoes. it's not an average score, it's the percentage of critics that said they liked it. the average score is 4.7/10, which is higher than on metacritic.
I will love it if he talks about Buddhism since I'm a Buddhist myself, but him one-upping Colleen Wing who is a local at it would not be cool. I don't want him to be better at it than any of those who grew up with Buddhism in the show. It shouldn't be him giving a lesson in it is what I try to say.

Dont expect to much. I have not idea from buddishm, but it sounds like a lot of tropes someone writes while not having an actually idea what they are writing about.
A lot of the Buddhism or wider philosophy in Iron Fist feels perfunctory at best; lines of dialogue or mantras that decorate the fringes of the plot because that's the background of the source material and character, but the show isn't concerned with exploring that at all.

You know after watching Legion, an episode about superherostuck in a asylum would obviously come up short.
I'm still early into the show, it could be very (very) slow burn, but these initial episodes do little to jumpstart the momentum of the show's driving narrative.Yeah that's what I feared.
On episode 3 right now just give me a hint.Episode 6 is going to piss a lot of people off.
Finished season 1....it sucked. I've never been so disappointed in a show as much as iron fist..the best iron fist scene is a freaking 50's capture video

For sure. Thing about Legion though is that sometimes it's actually too clever for its own good. It needs to become more than an expensive art house, avant-garde show at least sometimes if it wants to last more than one season.
How can you already be through 13 episodes? Have they allowed access earlier this time?Finished season 1....it sucked. I've never been so disappointed in a show as much as iron fist..the best iron fist scene is a freaking 50's capture video

5 Episodes in and this is already more exciting then every previous season of Arrow.
There you go.
Even the fight scenes?
I find that hard to believe
