You sure that isn't your player? The video was really smooth for me, as have been the last few E3 and onwards.godhandiscen said:Please Bioware fix those framerate drops.

watership said:Ya, it's completely out of sync on two of my boxes. Even when I save the film and run it in a few different players. Makes it almost unwatchable.
I hate shoddy encoding by sites like IGN and Gamespot lately. The last On the Spot was completely out of sync. Pathetic.
UncleGuito said:Like I say every Mass Effect thread, this game will be absolutely amazing. GOTY without a doubt.

Frenck said:As I said countless times before, the battles look absolutely horrible. Without a doubt the worst battle engine I've ever seen in a Bioware game and I thought that Jade Empire's was pretty good and fitting for the kind of game it was. The battle engine KILLS the game for me and I hate the fact that the game can win awards with such an obvious flaw based on its name or the name of its developer alone.
Can't wait for the first 7.5 reviews and the GAF reaction.
BUT IT HAS WON SO MANY BEST OF E3 AWARDS BUBUBU

Speevy said:I don't understand the criticisms of the battle system. Looks like they can expand on the sort of gunplay you saw in KOTOR (but you never used because you had lightsabers)
Also, dead faces? Mass Effect has some of the most expressive faces ever seen. I don't know what that comes from.

Have you told Casey Hudson about this yet? There's still a few months left!Frenck said:The gunplay in KotOR beats Mass Effect in terms of style, depth and sheer atmosphere not to mention that the magic seems hilariously out of place in Mass Effect.

Maybe he can fix it.

Thats my only gripe with the game, the level design is similar to halo. Hopefully, there will be co-opTartarus said:The character faces are gorgeous but all the backgrounds are simplistic and disappointing in my opinion.

My whole thing is the "game is unfinished" part, and developer pedigree. From what I saw of E3 media, I'd have to agree with your gameplay points.Frenck said:But maybe Mass Effect is a lesson they need to learn.

Frenck said:Thanks for correcting me, that really doesn't sound anything like magic at all.

Speevy said:THere is NO WAY this game gets 7.5s in reviews. You're insane.

Speevy said:The best I can say for you is that at least you're not another anti-KOTOR person. Bioware seems to get more enemies with each game they make.
Speevy said:I don't think Bioware has ever employed a jump button in their games, and swords would be an awfully inefficient way to kill things in this world.

Woo-Fu said:Might have something to do with making console action RPGs when their fanbase was originally made up entirely of hardcore PC RPG folks. Yeah, I'm one of them, and yeah, I was underwhelmed by KotoR and JE.
Frenck said:I don't want to sound like a troll, I'm really not a troll. I love Bioware and I don't want them to fail. There are some things that I like about Mass Effect, like the conversations or the scale and in some cases the graphics (which somehow fluctuate between CG quality and Xbox quality).
Additionally, and maybe I'm a bit too pessimistic here, I can't see Bioware making any significant changes to Mass Effect if the gaming press is so deep up their asses. Nobody tells them "But you're still working on the AI right? Cause that looks a little rough" or "The combat animations need a bit more work it looks quite lifeless now".
So why would they change anything if they get awards for their alpha code without anyone questioning the game?
The worst thing about the situation is that the gaming press will betray them in the end, they are going to criticise those aspects in their reviews even though they didn't pick up on them during the E3 demonstrations where their feedback would've been welcomed.
Speevy said:Well Jade was panned by KOTOR fans, but KOTOR was higher rated than any console RPG. People employ different standards based on a platform.
Woo-Fu said:Read a bit of sci-fi, you'll find that melee weapons are quite often favored in a pressurized environment. Your minigun might be more efficient at killing, but if you hole the habitat/spaceship you're dead too.
