Hahhaah lololol its funny cause it means gay.....joke in poor taste considering what has just happened in Orlando.
It's funny because it's a play on words. It has absolutely nothing to do with what happened in Orlando, obviously.

I think Hale did a much better job in ME1, Hale was the better Paragon and Meer was the better Renegade in ME2, and then Meer crushed it in ME3. Can't help but feel like Meer nails the comedic lines also, and as was just mentioned, he is awesome playing the Vorcha and the fucking Biotic God.
Unless it's rushed to market, the chances of it coming early 2017 are slim to none.
People say this but I honestly disagree. I like Mike Meer more than Jennifer Hale. And I think the former has more range than the latter, especially considering he also voiced characters like the Vorchas.
Paragon fem-shep>Paragon m-shep
Renegade m-shep>Renegade fem-shep
imo
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/mass-effect-andromeda-dev-on-studio-tensions-femal/1100-6440814/Source for this? I have not read that anywhere, and I pay attention to Mass Effect.
It's known that a segment of the Edmonton studio is working on the new IP, but the majority of the studio is currently working on Andromeda, similar to how Montreal was working on Inquisition when it was getting finished up.
Also, it's always been known that Montreal was taking the lead on Andromeda, and not Edmonton.
I also heard that some gameplay features are now being stripped out to meet the release date.
Oh I haven't heard about any of that. We've had a couple of modest changes, but nothing radical. All of the emphasis to move towards the free-form exploration, all that's still in there and very grounded in the mechanics.
Now that we have some years of distance from it, how did you feel about the Mass Effect 3 ending? The backlash, the alternate ending, bowing to fan pressure; how do you feel about all of it?
Well, I was there when the Mass Effect 3 ending happened, so I have a lot of therapy bills.
Seriously?
Oh yeah, I mean [releasing the alternate ending] was an incredibly cathartic moment for the studio. There we were, desperate to pay off a decade of work, and to have that negativity come back we thought, god, what are we doing here?
Heads were hanging like this [puts heads in hands between his knees]. It was a deeply introspective and challenging time for all of us. We carry a lot of scars from that time, and took a lot of lessons.
We all grew though it. I think everyone who went through that is a better developer because of it, and I think a lot of those people are determined to make a better Mass Effect game in a different setting. A lot of the motivation for me personally comes from that Mass Effect 3 ending.
"Modest changes" doesn't really translate into cutting a few features though.
Also, in the same interview:
Lol poor devs, so much pressure & negativity must have been hard for them.

I don't know how else to delicately point out that it doesn't have to be gay.

Dick Ryder for a male doesn't mean gay? How many straight guys do you know that ride dicks?
It's not funny and casual homophobia is the reason LGBTQ+ people seek out safe spaces where they then get shot and killed.
Dick Ryder for male Ryder default name. No other option is valid.

They deserved all the crap they got for that ending.
.
Still was too much of an overreaction for what is basically just a video game ending. Poorly done sure, but still. Some of their better efforts in the game were completely ignored because people were too focused on raging at the ending.
Still, part of me think that, thanks to all that, we got the excellent Citadel DLC, with all the love & attention that's in it.

This is an insulting assumption to all guys actually named Dick Ryder.

It's not "just" a video game ending. For a fan like me that poured hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of hours on the trilogy and bought all the DLCs and invested so many emotionally in the games, that ending felt like my head got hit by an anvil the size of a schoolbus. I didn't just feel disappointed, I felt betrayed.
What's insulting about assuming that someone is gay? Or that they ride dicks, for that matter
This is an insulting assumption to all guys actually named Dick Ryder.
Well dick is just short for Richard sooo
Imagine all the jokes they must have gotten lobbed at them, and now you make an assumption on someone based purely on their name? Disgraceful!
I dont understand this obsession with the gender of mass effects marketed character? Its an rpg for christ sake. You can select sex, or race. No one ever said you have to play as male or fem shep.
Well, it's silly to make an assumption like that about someone based solely on their name, I agree, but it's not insulting. In fact, you saying it's insulting is kind of homophobic because it implies that being gay or being seen as gay (or as a bottom) is a negative thing when, in fact, assuming that someone is gay based on their name would be no different than assuming that someone has brown hair based on their name or assuming that their favourite colour is blue or that they enjoy rollercoasters. Silly and non-sensical, sure, but insulting? No, not at all.

It is insulting BECAUSE of the negative connotations. He was making a joke about Dick Riding for the male character, what other way is it meant to be taken?
Huh? What's insulting about riding a dick? I've ridden plenty.

Thats what I'm trying to say. As a statement of fact it's not funny. He only meant it in the negative way.
Nice to see you take it so serious, how many people do you know who died in Orlando?
Yeah I'm sure he was referencing all the people named Dick Ryder and how it should be the only choice for a male character on their behalf.
Why not just say Richard Ryder then?
Ctrl + F "dick" 0 results on that page.
There are plenty of other names he could have picked, but no Dick was the only one he said because of the connotation. Trying to defend him by spinning it any which way but, means you are part of the problem.
I'm a big fan who replayed the trilogy like 10 times and I didn't overreact as much as some people.
Maybe it's because I started playing ME1 & ME2 in 2011 rather than when they were released, so I didn't have to wait years to see the trilogy ends, but who knows. It sure didn't "destroyed" the whole trilogy for me, preventing me to enjoy the games as I did before, didn't feel like vomiting when the ending happened, didn't want the devs to lose their job, or whatever hyperbole I saw back in the day.
Anyway... if the devs all learned from this to make a better game in ME:A, well... I guess there is nothing to worry about this happening again.
They deserved all the crap they got for that ending.
They got death threats.
