MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA – Gameplay Series #1: Combat

Graphics and Combat looks amazing , to be fair i just started playing 2 via free on Origin it seems nice so far but combat is sub par due keyboard/mouse maybe no idea , it has very significant glitches and graphics are meh

Same, gonna be tempted to trade it for a 1080ti if not.

Game is looking fanastic though.

yup yup.

Here's for hoping that everyone working on Frostbite means that they've done some fantastic optimization. I can't, in good conscience, buy another card until we can get true, max settings 4K/60 for most games. And Titan XP can't do that across the board yet, so It's unlikely 1080Ti will.

That being said, dr rus made a good point in one of the ME:A screenshot threads recently about this being somewhat of a flagship game for NV, so i think we should be alright.

What's wrong with her face? Proportions look fine.
Yeah, I don't get this. I mean you may as well say to people you meet in real life "What's up with your face?" as real people can have wonky faces (not saying Ryder does). And anyway don't like her face? Change it with the (hopefully decent) character creater.

Watched this several times and it looks so amazing. This is shaping up to be incredible I think. ME is one of my fav franchises ever and ME2 is in my top 3 games of last gen.

I really hope they focus on teamwork and biotic and tech combos in a new video soon.

Those facial and conversational animations look atrocious. Bioware needs to do a serious overhaul of their animations team at some point.

First video they've released that actually makes this game look good.

I'm still worried about the dynamic cover system though.

this is testing my new resolve to stay behind the curve and get things months later on sale while I work on my backlog...

BRAIN WHY DO YOU WANT THINGS YOU DONT NEED SO BADLY WHYYYYY

Seems like a real mixture of stuff that looks intriguing, and stuff that looks really stilted. The AI on the enemies and their general reactions to you seemed really stiff (just like it was in the prior games). Really figured there would be some progress in that. Some of the mobility stuff looks pretty cool.

Man, I usually have short attention span when it comes to video game videos. (rather play) But I just could not get enough. Fantastic trailer.

I droped 30 as a pre order on deluxe, and was about 60/40 about getting the game. Definitely brings this to a no brainer for me.

They don't look atrocious. If that warrants the usage of the word "atrocious", then something like Fallout 4 is a literal war crime.

At worst, it looks serviceable.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me but having only ever played the first Mass Effect, I wish it had that style of gameplay.

Right there with you. Seems that whatever IP bioware makes with depth in their combat system, they feel like they must get rid of the identity the combat once had to "improve" it. I feel like i'm not looking at Mass Effect at all. Everything i've liked about rpgs or action games with rpg lite elements feels like it has been disappearing. Pessimistic, i know, but i'm still waiting for a Dragon Age game with the ai/tactics system from the original.

Who knows though? I may be wrong about this iteration's rpg system in particular, despite how much of an actiony shooter it looks like.

Combat looks great. Very unimpressed with pretty much everything else so far.

I think that's fair. Honestly, imho, it's really hard to form an opinion on just about everything else so far. We haven't seen much exploration of environments, so we don't really know what those look like. Haven't seen a lot of conversations yet. Haven't seen hardly any missions, main story or side quest/loyalty mission stuff.

It's really hard to have an opinion on anything other than the combat at this point.

No it doesn't look serviceable. Bioware's animation department has always been bad but I was hoping that with the jump to the current gen that they would put more effort into that category considering the litany of criticisms they got for it last generation. However besides the combat animations, it looks to be on the same level as before, which is to say very bad.

Comparing it to even worse games that are near the bottom of the barrel isn't really making a convincing argument.

.

I...don't think you remember the ME trilogy's face animations very well. Some of the face animations in this game don't look great compared to the best in the industry, but this

is light years ahead of last gen BW.

That conversation at the beginning of this trailer was about on par with the stuff in ME3.

Also what you're pointing out looks to be a cutscene. In-game conversations don't look anywhere near that quality.

Played mass effect 1 to death on insanity. It's my favourite game in the series. I would never accuse it of having depth in its combat system. I'm not sure if further from the truth. I can understand finding an appeal in its stats based combat or its simplicity. My favourite part about it personally is cross class unlocks for repeat playthroughs. But... depth? Eeg. I'm just nitpicking though. I know that this obviously really doesn't change how you feel about it.
