Mass Effect: Andromeda releases Patch 1.05 Thursday, details more changes for future

There has to be more coming. I get it is a very comprehensive patch, but the way they talked about April 4th, was an almost like they would present a roadmap for the future, possible DLC.
Yeah, this is underwhelming considering how they built it up. Like this stuff is the bare minimum

GOTY

seriously surprised people expected more. Funny that they have had to specifically specify the ''my face is tired' conversation

Yea... gamers for you. It's been out like 1-2 weeks, can't believe people expected a patch that "Redid the entire game". I'm surprised they are even attempting to fix up some of the animations at this point, seems risky.

Gotta say that they are saying all the right things. If they manage to do what they are saying, then I'm much more satisfied going forward.

No, we expected a good game at launch after 5 years of development. 😐

I still fail to see how tweeting a standard "Our game just released and we're happy about it" with an added date of when they'd be able to tel us some details of the next patch is building anything up at all. And if they didn't put something concrete in there we'd have tons of threads shitting on them for being silent about the issues. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Some people are acting like they went Peter Molyneaux on this announcement and it was literally a quick tweet. You built it up and expected a ton for no reason, not them.

I think the actual issue is people spending the last 5 years putting the OT on a pedastal plus expecting the universe as an apology for the ending. I love ME2 and 3 a TON and even I think people really are getting rose tinted glasses. There are still more bugs in ME2 than I've personally encountered in Andromeda after all these years of patches. There are still weird graphics glitches. The writing isn't really better or worse than Andromeda either.

Wait this is it?

It's a very extensive patch for how long the game's been out....what did you expect, a remaster or something?

I love the sound of all these changes, going to hold off on playing the rest of my adventure whilst all this gets implemented I think, or at least this first patch :)

Game is good, very good in parts IMO - we (well, me anyway) expected it to be great...however.

I like what I'm reading. These improvements will be much appreciated.

Nonetheless, it goes without saying that it should have been in a much better state at launch.

EDIT: I'll wait on continuing further until these fixes get implemented and start anew. Didn't get that far anyway. Multiplayer has been alright so far.

Yeah, and regarding bugs, I had way more in ME1 and 3 than I did in Andromeda. People in cutscenes disappeared, their head turned 180°, I fell through the surface of a planet in ME1, etc... And dozens of quests bugs. Nothing compared to the first Dragon Age though, it can still be a pain in the ass today. But I love all these games.

I had more bugs/crashes in day one Witcher 3 first 10 hours than ME:A 50 hours.
Andromeda is a really good game that people chose to overly hate on. Like who cares about that zig-zag animation that they are fixing? you have to spam keys like a mad man to make it happen. 99% of players wouldn't notice that except some Youtuber used it to make fun of the game to give the masses satisfaction. The skip travel animation is a time saver and was my biggest issue. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they are patching the game but nothing they are hinting at fixing is out of the norm for a big RPG.

I had the exact opposite experience.

I never had Npc not appearing in the witcher 3 i never had progression preventing bugs playing witcher 3.

I had npc not appearing in ME:A
I had moments where i couldn't move after a cinematic
I had god so many npc floating in the air in the nexus and ennemies doing the same thing on eos and voeld
There are so many collision bugs in this game , so many client ( not host ) problem in the MP it's crazy.

If you think there aren't any issues , then great. I, myself and others have lost hours of gameplay experience because my game crashed ( it stopped saving ) and i had a friend that had his game creating so many saves on the hard drive he couldn't play anymore.

Both of us play on PS4 pro.

This game has bugs , LOTS OF THEM

i mean , i talked to a NPC on havarld and after the cinematic i fell out of the world ( as if i was no clipping ) .. like WTF
I have all those moments on video

I even had a moment where on the tempest , a door opened on outside space instead of the room it was supposed to. Like seriously ???

How does it feel to play this game in MP with 3 friend and i do a fire combo on an ennemy and both of us are kicked out of the game as a result ?

And everything i've said so far , i had none of that in ME2, ME3 or DA:I

Good to hear. I will wait till this patches drop but I will definitely buy the game when all these fixes are implemented.

Surprised they actually addressed the eyes and facial animations. I wish the team all the best and look forward to these updates.

Obviously my point was anecdotal. I'm playing on ps4 pro as well. My point was not to say it doesn't have bugs/glitches as I had some but I encountered much more in the Witcher 3 and so did a lot of people and that's the nature of the beast with those big games. The Witcher 3 had tons and tons of patches to fix bugs and unfortunately so will Andromeda.

I'm glad they have a plan for significantly improving the game, but I feel terrible for the people who paid $60 for a beta test. I'll grab this once it's $30 or less and patched, maybe this holiday.

You feel terrible that I had a blast playing the game and enjoyed my 100+ hours with it?

Hmm, interesting. Peculiar even.

Have you played a ME game before? The writing is no different - better or worse - on the whole than what has come before.

I would argue it was, because opinions and such. ME was a fine example and a great franchise starter. ME2 and ME3 had their moments too, especially on some characters (and even on some "daddy issues" loyalty missions like Thane's). But it remains to be seen if the reviewers are correct on noting the writing problems.

Writing meets your normal BW standards. Not especially better or worse than any other of their offerings when looking whole package.

Entirely subjective but my normal Bioware writing standards are Baldur's gate 2, NWN Hordes of the Underdark, KotOR and Dragon Age: Origins. According to the reports, and some of the videos/let's plays etc. i have watched, ME:A does not even reach the shadow of those games.

But, yet, while i was and still am skeptical i will wait for the game to patched to see for my self if my fears had any foundations. And hopefully buy it at lower price ofcourse.

If you both found ME:A's writing adequate to your tastes that is very good for you and i am glad you enjoyed it.

Fantastic looking update. Good for Bioware to get this out there and show they are working on it.

I'm excited to see the progress. Still love the game, but a few tweaks will go a long way.

Good on Bioware for trying to fix the issues with the game.

I'll probably get it in several months after various patches

Will wait until all DLC out and see if a GOTY (lol) type edition.

See no reason to buy before then.

As someone who has this digitally and physically, I agree. If you haven't started yet, you may as well hold off. We are beta testing this game. It took them just 2 weeks after launch to say they'll fix things like loading issues, facial animations, eyes etc. What if another 2 months from now they have fleshed out sidequests better, changed up some dialogue, added better assets? You may as well wait of you aren't in a rush. Playing through ME3 with the full DLC and extended cut is a much better experience than vanilla.

To be fair, the hype morons on sites like this built it up.

All they did was say they'd be making an announcement about patches and future plans on the 4th. That's hardly a build up. That was just basically saying "we know there are issues, we're on it" rather than maintaining the radio silence that got No Man's Sky so much shit post launch.

Everyone who was reasonable expected no more than date for the first bug fix patch and some rough outline of what issues they were working on fixing.

Looking good~

I'm already pretty satisfied by what I have in ME: Andromeda, so seeing stuff get added and fixed is great! It'll encourage me to do additional SP playthroughs and more multiplayer~

Good on them for working on these issues. I'm holding off my single player playthrough till it has a couple more patches under its belt, but looking forward to MP bug fixes and balance changes (of which both are really appreciated).

This is almost every game nowadays so no need to feel sorry. People know what they're getting into buying games day one.

Yup. Just wait a few months and you'll get the game all patched up for half the price. Best of both worlds.

I bought Andromeda at release and feel dumb. Haven't played it yet though.

Even though its only right that a game should be shipped in polished state it kind of rubs me the wrong way when people say they aren't going to even buy the game until its 5 dollars. Sort of sends pubs a bad message. Like whats even the point of trying to fix it if we already have our initial sales? It's not like the game is unplayable or utterly broken. Games can really evolve and even transform into great games with some work. There are plenty of great examples of this . Look at R6, Driveclub, etc.

These patch notes have me hopeful that they are addressing problems and criticisms. I want to applaud them for supporting their product and sticking through the negativity. I'll give my copy a spin once all the animation kinks are smoothed out a bit. Looking forward to it actually.

Yea. I'm just gonna finish quests on the planet I've already been to. Collect mats. Make money. Not going to bother with progression until the patch.

Definitely going to wait for Thursday before playing more.

I'm just mad that I got 100% on so many empty systems before they added the ability to skip the stupid flying animation (I didn't do all the systems, but I did do a lot of them).

Don't feel dumb. Try it. You may like it. A lot of us love it.

Who is this Hainly person and why is there such an uproar about it?
A trans side character that tells Ryder about the trans status immediately and basically unprompted.

Same. I think there's one system (of those unlocked so far) that I haven't 100% yet. Oh well, I figured they'd patch that and wasn't that annoyed by it.

I've kinda hated the "lol thanks for beta testing" sentiment that I've seen on gaf in the last few months, but damn...
It's a clearly rushed, unpolished, and often incomplete and unfuctioning game for many players. The criticism is well-deserved, but also their attempts to fix it up are appreciated.

Was hoping for:

Added a goddamn cell phone so you don't have to backtrack to the Nexus or some planet you don't have any quests on in order to talk to one NPC for eight seconds.

These fucking sidequests.

I don't understand. I mean I know enough that many trans people hide their status and blend in without the label and some are "out" and open with their status and proud of that label. Even unprompted. Was it insensitive or something?
