EA has just announced Mass Effect Infiltrator for iOS, a companion app that will help boost your "Galactic Readiness" in Mass Effect 3. Increased readiness will help enable players get the best ending possible in the trilogy's finale.

"Take the all-out galactic war in Mass Effect 3 on-the-go with Infiltrator, a fully-featured iOS third-person shooter showcasing stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series," a PR pamphlet acquired at an EA event describes.


"Inspired by the deep and immersive Mass Effect 3 universe, in Infiltrator players will help to free prisoners from a hostile Cerberus base and will receive rewards for collecting evidence of Cerberus' crimes along the way. Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player's Galactic Readiness rating directly through the Galaxy at War system in Mass Effect 3."

The game will be available on iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad "soon." In addition to increasing galactic readiness, the iOS game will also unlock "exclusive weaponry" for use in the main game.

I didn't mind Mass Effect Galaxies, I got it for .99 or so and it was ok. I am interested to see how this will turn out.

It's possible to get "best ending" without this stuff. I'm guessing the more of this stuff you do, the looser certain parameters are, making it easier to get the best ending without understanding said parameters.

Pretty sure these games are directed towards people who already own them for their many other features. Few are going to buy an iOS device for a game "exclusive".

Don't forget that he'll also need clothing, understanding of local laws, and a car to drive to the store to buy the game (and a license to drive said car!).

Mass Effect 3 sounds like it's going to cost 1000's of dollars.

I'm actually kind of happy western studios have more or less abandoned their tie-in handheld games and instead put them on mobile. Leaves shelf space for more serious efforts.

I thought Dead Space iOS was crap so hopefully it is nothing like it. Shadowgun was so much better than Dead Space and easily the best iOS third person shooter IMO.

I've played many tps's on ios in a futile attempt to get accustomed to the controls and they all have been terrible.

Dead Space, Resident Evil, Shadowgun, all unplayable.

Galaxies was pretty bad. There were some conversation parts of it that I enjoyed though, but the tilting controls were infuriating.

Nice... I just payed €900.- for a Panasonic ST30 for ME3 and now I should also buy an iOS device to play this? Come on... (I am seriously concidering this despite my situation as a student. I had to eat 3 month only bread, water and noodles to afford the TV).
