So they didn't add any new content??? That's really disappointing to hear. I have played ME1 dozens of times, ME2 around 8-10 times and ME3 around 4 times. Mass Effect was my favorite franchise of the 360/PS3 era. A new coat of painting doesn't really entice me to try this.

A couple of new quests per game, maybe an extra squad mate and a different ending for ME3 would've made me get this day one. As much as I love the Mass Effect franchise I'm going to stand my ground and get this on sale. There is just no new content to justify paying full price. I mean I know these games so well I can quote most of them from start to finish and there is nothing new here.

They changed ME1's gameplay to make it more consistent with the other 2 games. They balanced the weapons, drastically reduced loading times, changed the whole UI, improved graphics..still people keeps saying "a new coat of paiting" or "it's the same lol".

Whoa. They really did a complete overhaul of the first game now? Hopefully the gunplay has the same feeling to that of 2 & 3. And I'm all for the Mako getting better controls. That piece of crap was hard to drive around.

Mass Effect 1 was still the best in terms of story and worldbuilding. I just couldn't bother to replay it because the gameplay was a slog.

Still pissed they're not going change the ending to ME3. Even with the Extended Cut it's still one of gaming's big travesties.

Really disappointed this is only last gen and no support for PS5 or XSX
There is support for XSX/PS5, check the official site.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include single-player base content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, plus promo weapons, armors, and packs - all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD. It will be available in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. More information to come in the new year!

The game obviously wasnt aimed at people like you but us fans that played it once or twice and left with great memories. Playing the same 30hr title 12 times? Whats wrong with you lol.

Also how could you expect new content. They clearly stated what was going to be included and like any other remaster out there, they put every dlc on top of that. They not going to be making new content for a 10+ year game.

That looks really fucking bad. I’m surprised at how bad it looks. I think this was just their attempt to save the IP after what Andromeda did to it.

I wasn’t going to break my stance on not buying anything EA anyway, but this makes it real easy to skip.

I did play it years after it released so I already had lower standards going into ME3 expecting a sh*tfest. Wasn't as bad at all but yeah ending could be better but I think the controversy is overblown.

Yea I started the series with the first game in 2008. It's one of those things when you enter in late and play all three games at once it'll sit better with you. But when you spend years replaying these games waiting for the next part, speculating with other fans, discussing lore and plot points, and pouring your love into the setting, it came off like such a shock when we first experienced that ending.

I don't think it was overblown because there were many things Bioware lied about. They spent years saying our choices would matter, the endings wouldn't boil down to an A, B, and C choice, and that it wouldn't come down to a Reaper off switch. Obviously none of those things were true, and it didn't help that the ending was presented and written away that was completely nonsensical.

I think for the most part, how the ME3 ending sits with the players boils down to where and when they're coming from as a fan, and how much thought they put into the ending itself.

Yeah, though it didn’t really bother me at the time as I was pretty confident there was no way they could pull off a satisfying ending.

1. It’s just very hard to do in a trilogy with years between releases as you note. Many people replay, rewatch etc. and have built up a head cannon of how things should go and are going to lose their minds when it doesn’t go that way. They were never going to please all, or even most, people unless they played it very safe—and then different people would bitch about it being safe, predictable and boring.

2. It’s even tougher when it’s a game that involves tons of choices that impact outcomes, which characters are still alive etc. Just no way easily wrap everything up in a way that makes most players feel like all their major choices had a major impact. Hell, you even see that in short story driven games with choices like Telltale games. The seemingly major choices tend to just effect character relationships and who lives and have little impact on the overall story outcome in those games. Giving players meaningful choice just isn’t compatible with telling a meaningful, cohesive story in an epic trilogy. It’s really only going to impact side quests and character outcomes.

So even the original ending before the expanded cut came out was mostly fine by me as I had low expectations. It helped that the main plot after the first game wasn’t anything special to me anyway. The meat of ME2 and ME3 for me was the crew relationships and crew member loyalty quests.

I just want the original Mass Effect weapon heating mechanic across all three games. It was brilliant and the replacement never felt right to me.
At least a compromise - what if you can either replace the thermal clip or wait for it to cool down? That would make it refill.

I always felt that they needed more time to develop ME3 anyway. Also the fact that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters closed themselves off in a room and wrote the ending without allowing any input from the rest of the writing team was obviously a mistake, and it definitely shows.

I think if this Trilogy came out today, the older and wiser version of me would have lowered my expectations. But I was young, in my early 20s, and had my head in the clouds. So I thought that they would have been able to pull it off.

Yeah, I’ve got a decade or so on you so that probably helped in my case. Was 33 when it came out so was at that point that I wasn’t getting super invested in outcomes of stories in games and movies anymore, and went in with my expectations tempered for the reasons noted above.

But yeah, I was way more obsessed with games and especially movies back in my 20s than in my 30s or especially now in my 40s. I don’t get emotionally invested in these things anymore at all. They’re just fun escapes, and if not I quickly forget about them and move on to the next thing. If ME3 had hit in my early 20s I’m sure I’d have been ranting and raving on forums about it as well as I was way to invested in those kind of things back then.

I’ll get it on sale maybe for the first 2 games. Dont care about Mass Effect 3 at all. game sucked IMO

Edit: pinnacle Station from ME1 is not on this remaster. Dumb.

Yeah the source files are all corrupted apparently

"he PlayStation 3 port does not include Pinnacle Station due to the source files being corrupted.[2]"

Imagine it's the same reason

Word. I'll also say that thanks to ME3, I was able to handle the disappointment of Game of Thrones Season 8 a lot better than I otherwise would have.

All that being said I'm getting this collection for sure. It's possible they plan on bringing back Shepard in some way for the next game. The timing seems convenient that in the teaser Future Liars finds his armor, and they're release the Shepard Trilogy shortly after that teaser.

Or it could mean nothing.

Yeah I wish they would rebuild it. And ME 3 multiplayer missing sucks too, it was the best part of that game.

I kind of hope it means nothing. I think they'd have a WAY harder time trying to please fans if they bring Shepherd back, vs. just having some long living characters like Liara around and a new main character. Fans have too much head cannon about their Shepherd after replaying 3 games and making tons of choices and getting invested.

Don't forget Terminator got pushed to April 30 as well. Its apparently actually good fanservice but idk.

Kinda annoying how these all get clumped together.

I agree. Legacy characters being involved would be cool, but best to start fresh.

I think people that already own the game should get a discount on this remaster.

I mean, the visual updates are kind of meh seeing as I've played the trilogy on PC with various mods.

Also becomes a little less compelling considering I've played through ME1 four times, ME2 8-10 times, and ME3 three times.

The gameplay changes to ME1 sound welcome though. I may buy this (albeit not day one at full price) just to have the full package all in one place with all DLCs (except Pinnacle station which is okay, I played it back in the day and it was nothing to write home about).

I think people that already own the game should get a discount on this remaster.

Would be nice, but was never expecting this. I do own all three on Origin (including ME1 which technically was a rebuy but it was dirt cheap; remember the batshit DRM that game had at launch?? yikes.)

Yeah it definitely has more appeal to people who didn't play the PC versions and haven't replayed (or replayed as much). I did 3 play throughs of ME2, but only played ME 1 and 3 once each so they'll feel pretty fresh to me, along with the graphics boost from having not played the PC versions and a nice boost to 4K.

EA play and game pass ultimate subs get a 10 % discount I believe, but that’s about the best we are going to get From EA.

Do not want to comment on remaster yet, but what a weak-ass trailer.

Why would you not use music from original trilogy in trailer like this?

I was in college at the time the trilogy released and had no money for games (also my laptop was not good enough), so I missed this series. Will play it now if it's good on PS5.

I always loved ME1's more central and zoomed out camera. Sadly it looks like they're using 2 & 3's style now

Even in mass effect 1 I found the fov way too small, but 2 and 3... literally unplayable for me. Thankfully there was a method to fix the fov on pc (and it was actually quite specific, there were different mods but only one was working correctly for all situations), this might not even be possible on these remasters. I never understood what they were thinking with this fov.

ME1 combat plays like dog shit so any adjustments to make it closer to 2 and 3 are welcome. Original PC version will always be there if you want that experience.
Personally, I had way more fun with the combat in ME1 than the one in 2/3 (on PC), mostly because I felt that they really messed up the controls/aim/movement. I tried replaying the saga one after the other once and 2 just seemed so much worse I canned that plan a few hours into that game..
