Mass Effect Trilogy releasing this November on 360/PS3/PC (including ME1 on PS3)

I love the long standing tradition so many 3rd parties have of fucking up their own releases on Nintendo consoles. ME3 coming up on Wii U? Let's announce a trilogy pack. MGS3 coming up on 3DS? Let's announce a trilogy pack for PS3. etc etc

Not fucking up their own releases. Just boning Nintendo.

Unfortunately, I have to blame Nintendo for this one. They really should have seen this coming.

Some times I wonder if devs want their games on Nintendo consoles to fail. I know that doesn't make any sense but neither do situations like this one

Sounds like a great package. I myself finally got into the series and love both 1 and 2. Haven't bought the third game yet but I'm looking forward to it.

So yeah. Guess I'll be getting the digital version of ME1 for PS3, considering I already have ME2 and ME3 boxed (despite already owning the trilogy on 360 and PC).

Not sure if the saves will be compatible between the digital version of one game and the retail version of another.

This makes the Wii U release pointless but it was only barely not pointless in the first place. So really I doubt this affects Nintendo at all. Most people who are buying the system probably had the game on another platform in the first place. It is still weird though that they aren't just bringing Trilogy to Wii U also.

ME2 was the latest game and was released on PS3 with all the DLC that existed at the time, similar thing is happening with the Wii U release of ME3. Why sell a new consumer base (generally not everybody owns all the consoles guys) a trilogy boxset when they have yet to buy the latest title? The market has dried up for that on PS3/360, that's why they get the collection, it's being repackaged to entice new buyers (and completionist double-dippers).

You wouldn't, probably. If you want the rest of the tilogy, you should buy Me3 and show your support for the series.

That is, if you haven't played it on any other console or refuse to for some silly reason.

How about this for a silly reason: I have tuition for two kids, and could only afford to get one console this gen. Same so far for next gen. Why would I drop $200 on a 360 so I could buy a game that by all logic should come to the next gen console I already plan on buying (not port begging, please don't ban me mods).

The only major issue I see with this is whether or not EA uses this as a barometer for future support. If they don't then it's just an unfortunate blip that only affects the few of us who haven't already played all three on another console.

Doesn't it make sense to sell that new consumer base the entire trilogy, including the latest title?

I own Mass Effect 1 on the 360, but 2 and 3 on the PS3.

This is pretty tempting for me, since I'd like to be able to play and carry over my Shepherd from ME1 into 2 and 3 on the PS3.

I'm betting that ME 1 for PS3 will be a download voucher.

Any news if this collection will include GOTY editions? I really hope ME3 has the extended ending.

this is like MGS: Snake Eater 3D vs MGS:HD Collection all over again.
If I were Nintendo I would cancel Mass 3 and boot their game off the system

Well let's look at this in terms of the production pipeline. We know that ME3 Wii U is being worked on by a brand new team that's been porting it since shortly before the game went gold on the other platforms. Could a team like that really have handled porting the other two as well, not to mention doing it on new hardware?

Edit: Wait do we know that ME3 on Wii U is gonna be $59.99? If so, Jesus...

It would be great if they have ported ME1 with the ME2/3 engine for PS3

That would honestly tempt me to re-buy the game.

Doesn't it make sense to sell that new consumer base the entire trilogy, including the latest title?

Not when you can get away with charging the same price for one title. The people it's aimed at are Wii owners who don't already own a PS3/360. They're a major part of the audience for the Wii U. Do you think ME3 on Wii U is aimed at the lucrative market of people who already own ME3?

Look at it from the perspective of a business who wants to make money (and aren't always very good at it) and not from what makes sense from a consumer point of view. EA isn't widely known for that.

Meanwhile, on Wii U.

I kind of want it but it needs to have all the DLCs and come in special Steelbook packaging or something, which of course won't happen.

I'm glad I'll finally be able to play the original Mass Effect (which I keep being told is the best in the series by friends) on my PS3. I'm currently half way through Mass Effect 3 and having a blast, but it'll be nice to go back and make decisions in the first game and carry them over.

Well to be fair, you could buy a 360 right now and get more games for it than the WiiU will even have in the next 2 years.

Gaming is an expensive hobby, you pay to play.

Didn't see that ME1 was going to be released as a stand alone digital download for PS3. Will get that one then. Nice. ME1 is my favorite of the series, even if it is rough around the edges in some parts.

I coulda sworn I said this was gonna happen and a bunch of people called me silly for thinking it.

But yeah, I can only assume they'll bring this out on Wii U a year and change later with bonus content.

Right as Mass Effect 4 releases.

Makes me wonder if they will even bother to release the WiiU version of Mass Effect 3 now. I certainty don't see any point to it existing now.

Nintendo is matching marketing dollars on a lot of launch titles, so they can use Nintendo to subsidize a holiday advertising spree for the game other platforms.

I think you guys are expecting way too much. Thus collection seems fairly barebones. If it had included the DLC, they would've mentioned it, I think.

They have to port the entire game. I really don't know about this things but i'm pretty sure that they have more experience with the me2/3 in ps3 than with the first and maybe is easier for them to do it this way.

It would be very weird to see the trilogy without the dlc. C'mon, the ME2 version without DLC doesn't even exists in PS3! They should do it on purpose!

Why is N7 Day on November 6th?

I'll happily bite on 360 as I've never played it, but only if it comes with all the DLC for AT LEAST ME1 and ME2.

On November 6, EA is releasing a three game package of a very specific story driven and completely connected trilogy of games. Games that follow the same protagonist, same characters, and same adventure through interconnected quests.

Perfect for people inexperienced with the series, wishing to start from the very start (as they should), this trilogy pack will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. On both PC and Xbox 360, all three games have previously been released, though will finally be available in one pack. On PlayStation 3, only the last two titles were released, the pack now giving fans a chance to experience where the adventure began.

On Wii U, a platform that launches a week plus after the release of the Mass Effect Trilogy, EA will release Mass Effect 3 Special Edition. This is singular, final entry in a three game story arc. On a platform with a very high probability of new players, completely inexperienced with the series. On a platform with a manufacturer/production history that has never had a Mass Effect game before.

The sheer idiocy and insanity of this company knows no bounds. It matters not if the Wii U will get it eventually. What matters is they have the perfect game for potentially new fans who have never played the series before, and are releasing it on every major platform except the one it would be most valuable on.

Or EA could be simply looking upon this as just throwing an already-completed game that likely won't sell at all out there to make a quick buck, because EA and Nintendo platforms have never really gotten along. Hell, several exclusive, high quality games (Boom Blox, anyone?) were sent to die because of Nintendo's gross mishandling of the properties in favor of their own first-party content.

Is it hard to believe that EA did this specifically to screw over Nintendo? Yeah, it sounds pretty tin-foil-hatty. But those in the industry have always argued that the reason Nintendo has failed for years with third parties is that they fail to cultivate any sort of relationship outside of the initial console push, giving no support and no promotion to games made outside of their doors. You can call it biting the hand that feeds you, but it's hard to blame EA when all Nintendo's hand has is table scraps.

I think the version included is the GotY one, so there would be all DLC for ME2. Not so sure about ME3, specially with a DLC for it coming, though it wouldn't be surprising if they released it with all current DLC and leave Omega out like they did with ME2 GOTY and Arrival.

Either way, I'll get this one for sure having missed all 3 games, I just need more details on it.

I would love for you to elaborate on this one.

Gaming is an expensive hobby, you pay to play.

So Mario, Zelda and Metroid are coming to the 360? Sorry to sound snarky, but if I'm going to only have one console per gen, I'm getting the one with those games on it. I'm primarily a Nintendo gamer. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't mind having choices of some nice 3rd party games.

Look at it this way. If you liked Sony games (Uncharted, Rachet & Clank, Team ICO games) and could only afford to buy a PS3 this gen and a PS4 next gen, how would you feel if those platforms got excluded from a major 3rd party series that interested you? Or in fact, several major 3rd party series (what's the plural of series?). You would be understandably annoyed. Then, imagine I told you that you should have played it on the 360? Not many people would say "You're right! I should have bought a 360 instead, even though I would have missed out on the Sony exclusives I love so much!"

That's how us Wii only owners have felt this entire generation. I'm sorry, but "suck it up and deal with it, you should have already played it on another platform" is a pretty crappy response.

I'm not trying to bust your balls or anything, and most of this is not even directed specifically at you. But I'm a little tired of being treated like a second class gamer because I chose to spend my money on my kids instead of my hobby.

So stop being a Nintendo only gamer.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Thank you for proving my point.

It's so tiring being a Nintendo only gamer and watching again and again as games get ported to every platform under the sun except the one I own. I was under the impression EA liked money, yet they're not only killing sales of Mass Effect 3, they're once again giving Nintendo fans the short end of the stick by withholding the trilogy. That's something that would sell.

I don't expect any ME3 DLC in the Trilogy. Maybe the 4 or 5 multiplayer DLCs and Extended Cut since they're free, but From the Ashes and Leviathan? Nah, you'll have to pay like everyone else.

Wow, that is a kick to the balls for the WiiU.

They should have released the trilogy for it as well, not the third part.

But I also feel like this won't be the last time the WiiU gets screwed.
