McDonald's fries really are the best

You think they are good now? You should have had them back when they were cooked in beef fat. Now those were some damn good fries.

They are the best thing that McDonalds offers imo but I don't think they are the best fries. As far as those straight normal fries go, I think Wendy's are better now acutally. Still though, I much rather have seasoned fries, curly fries, or waffle fries from like from Chick-fil-A over the boring straight fries.

Hmmm I should've specified basic fries (with a bit of salt) in the title. I feel like bringing up special fries with garlic or cajun seasoning is cheating.

My dad always complains about how they're not as good as those every time we get McDonalds. For like, the past 20 years, or however long it's been since they did that.

I could inhale french fries all day every day, but I've never really gotten the big deal with McD's fries. They're fine and all, but I think they're probably my least favorite of all the big chains tbh.

For best fries: cut up potato and fry twice. Put salt on. Enjoy.

No extra chemical ingredients needed.
How much shit is in those tasteless MC Donalds fries?

I'm not a fan, I loved them as a kid but give me thick cut chips from a pub or fish and chips shop any day. Even KFC's are so much better:

But I guess you wouldn't call those fries here either.

Well yeah I could probably make my own fries, but that's not what this is about.

Or maybe I needed to specify fast food fries.

I am Belgian, and you are wrong.

Hello. You guys know from waffles, but fries? I've heard nothing of Belgian fries.

If not for their fries, what's left? Everything else is just overpriced stuff other places are now doing better.

Well, I guess I still like their chicken nuggets.

Depends on where one lives. The McSpicy Chicken (particularly the Double McSpicy) sandwich they sell in Singapore is my all time favourite burger/sandwich. Their Indian stuff, including the Maharaja Mac and McGrill, isn't shabby either.

We don't have any of that stuff here. Maybe the Spicy Chicken. If only. I'd try Indian inspired big mac. You always hear about international McDonald's stuff being so much more interesting than here in the States.

Feel bad for kids these days. They never got to try McDonald's fries when they used beef fat.
They were 1,000x better.
Right now, I prefer thick cut fries from local mom and pop restaurants.

They were the best in the 90s and earlier when they used lard to fry them in. Now they are pretty good, but only if they're hot. Let them sit for 20 minutes and they taste awful.

Fries fried in duckfat are the best.

Anyone like Costco fries?

Yeah they're good, but not on the level of their other items, like the chicken bake. Costco fries are the kind I'd need malt vinegar with to really get into.

really? Wow..
Yeah, Belgian fries are real fries. And amazing.

I'm Dutch. We have good fries and shitty fries (and real garbage fries like Mc Donalds).
But we love belgian fries in the Netherlands.

Never tried. Willing, but would need to find a place here in California.

This man speaks truth.

I think they're equally as good as Five Guys and Wendy's. They each have their own strengths. McDonalds is the crisp texture and unique taste. FG's has that peanut oil flavor and fact they give portions large enough to feed a family of four. Wendy's is damn tasty and I appreciate the flimsy texture sometimes.

Honorable mention goes to Rallys. I like that seasoning, but I have to be in the mood for it.

Burger King really fell from grace. They had lordly fries for a while but decided to change them for some reason.

We tried cooking with duckfat recently and now it's a staple in the kitchen, even though the smell took some time to get used to. It's good stuff. duckfat + potatoes is heavenly.

When did they stop? Because I remember them being better in the 90s/early 00s, but didn't know why.

Euro-GAF, stop trying to make fries and mayo a thing.
I've switched from ketchup to A1.

It is an elementary expression of deliciousness and good taste, not "a thing". The American idea to drench fries in a colored sugar solution is indefensible, though.

Absolutely. Cold McDonald's fries are unnaturally awful.

McDonald's fries GOAT.

F this fresh crispy shit. They are at their best when they are squishy and brown on the ends. Every time I get them there's always a few fries like this. what I wouldn't give for an entire order of em covered in salt!

The heart failure would be worth it.

Side note: fries are the only thing I get at McDonald's, except the occasional Mcfrappe.

Order em no salt and you get them freshly made to perfection. No soggy fries allowed.

but hey

Let me tell you about Steak n' Shake french fries.
