That table would be good if it wasn't for the fact that you have the wrong PSP total for the week of 01/17-01/23. That week the PSP sold 66,543 units (go back and check my correction in that thread). It seems like I've pointed this mistake to you a few times.

I knew it was off, and I posted the same thing before and you corrected me, but I couldn't find the damn thread. I keep forgetting to update my spreadsheet :D

These numbers won't stay stable for months on end. If the ratio stays the same (PSP outselling DS by nearly 2:1 every week), then it will catch up much faster when the hardware market is more active.
Since PSP started outselling DS mid-January, the most it has outsold DS is 1.85:1, with an average of 1.59:1. If the ratio continues at about 1.6:1, PSP will reach DS with an additional 1,473,278 units, whenever that comes.

It's obvious that the only reason that PSP was selling so well is because of the prolonged effect of the launch shortage. Now that the launch demand had tapered off, we are beginning to see the that the demand for the system is not too hot...

Oh wait.....
Not the only reason, of course, but it certainly helps. PSP has now reached the total DS was at ~December 25. And of course, demand HAS dropped off, as to be expected; it just didn't have as much to fall from due to early supply. PSP is now selling what DS was selling when PSP overtook it in weekly sales.

Sonycowboy... your chart is very much like my own, but I think you've got a week wrong there, which is throwing off some of the other stats, such as Weeks to Pass. For the week of January 17-23 the initially posted PSP and PS2 numbers were accidentally switched, so PSP got 66,543 that week rather than 56,274. Changing to the more accurate amount tends to make PSP catch up to DS half a week sooner. :)
EDIT BEFORE POSTING: Well, guess that's taken care of.

So I thought of some exciting new ways to play with the data. Like, we all know DS is nearly a million ahead of the PSP, but what if we ignore the amount it sold in the week-ish before PSP launch? Its first week was 468,883. Getting rid of 6/7 of the second week is an additional 170,479 units. So if we look at things since the PSP launched, it's PSP 1,018,728; DS 1,263,333, giving PSP fully 44.6% of the post-PSP non-GBA portable Japanese market.

WTF is with Ys 6? Supposed millions of "anime" fans dont game.
It sold a good 500k on PC, I dunno. I think even Ys Eternal Story sold better initially (20k iirc)... Konami got ripped off. :/
