This gigantic difference is suspicious - are they counting the units included in the Value Pack, perhaps?

Yes, of course.
That doesn't make sense though, because it's packaged as a 2-in-1 box, rather than the 2 Platinum SKUs. If they have included this, Famitsu has fucked up - it should be listed as Beautiful Katamari / Ace Combat 6 pack-in.

Yeah it's a bit misleading because they just released the Platinum versions as well. Famitsu must've lumped Platinum and pack-ins together.

Edit: Actually, are you sure it's a 2-in-1 box? The ad I saw on Nico seems to indicate they just put two Platinum copies in the box.

Edit2: Never mind, you're right.

Media-Create lists 0 360 BEST releases in the Top 50 for the same week, and MC doesn't combine titles. I'm guessing Famitsu combined titles and just didn't realize it was a combined disk.

Edit:
Nice catch.

Yeah, probably, but I got the impression on the fact that Counter strike isn't popular at all there. Its like Japanese Nascar racing, does that even exist?
I don't think NASCAR style racing exists anywhere outside of America (USA, Canada, Mexico).

360 should be really close to PS3, if not above, for next week's numbers due to the Last Remnant bundle. PES PS3 bundle releases next Thursday. If 360 is able to get above PS3 for next week's numbers, that PES bundle should push it back on top for the following week. (Less impact than last year's release due to a lot of people already having bought the PS3 for last year's release, though.) I'm not real sure what Wii's going to be doing through all of this, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it remain above both for the rest of the year including the next two weeks.

You forget ps2 version ... that was better than ps3-x360 version :lol

I've given up on understanding Japanese gaming. It is so different that the USA & Europe. It is even very different from Korea.
I'd argue Korea is more different then Japan - at least in Japan, packaged games are the leading business like in the West.

Pretty good week for PS3, but it seemed to do nothing to hardware. Well except to keep it from falling to 8000 in one fell swoop.

Then again, console sales are absolutely abysmal all round.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Animal Crossing @ 175k - great result, and that was a huge shipment. Will be interesting to see what it can do first week but I'd guess something like 250k is attainable, and after that I'll be interested to see what kind of legs it has.

Chrono Trigger DS is a great figure as well, and I wouldn't be surprised to see most of the rest of the shipment go. Hopefully Square-Enix have learnt from past mistakes and ship enough to keep it stocked.

Last Remnant is pretty impressive as well, but I wonder if it's going to brick-wall like other 360 RPGs or whether it will achieve a bit more.

Wowza. Pretty good all around, there. Except Motorstorm/Mercs, but I can't imagine expectations were running very high for either of them.

Yes, especially CT did better than i expected. Awesome sales for an awesome Game. Can`t really blame SE to put those Ports/Remakes on DS when they almost always sell that good.

CT > Gundam? That is actually pretty insane considering the excitement surrounding the latter.
Also, retailers ordered way too much Animal Crossing, I see. They probably expected it to sell a bit better after the explosion on the DS, but it's going to be a slow burner for sure.

Also, Mercs selling more than Motorstorm on the PS3 is not a surprise if you've seen the Motorstorm ads. God they are scary.

edit: OTOMEDIUS!!! DESUTOROI ZEMU O----RU!!

Rounded shipments in (bold). I want Prinny numbers :/

Oh, and I told you 400k expectation for PSP Gundam wasn't that far-fetched. Really nice numbers for it, Chrono and Last Remnant.

I can't believe they shipped 800k of Animal Crossing and sold 175k. If this were a title from any other company it'd be a quarter of its price next week.

Nice sales all around. If someone dig into my post history, I said TLR would do 100k+ first week, while everyone thought otherwise. Justice has been served!

That's probably why they did it, you know this game is going to have good legs.

people are forgetting that AC WW sold 300k in its first week and sold over 3 million over time

the AC Wii numbers will probably double over the weekend so its really not a bad number

and even if you dont take the legendary slowburner AC WW in account the AC series had always have a first week sales to LTD ratio of 20% or less...

Yep, Gundam has sold great and They laughed when I mentioned the expectations from Namco Bandai.

AC Wii first week is going to be close to the ds version first week. (335k)

And then Nintendo accidentally makes a Golden Wii and from its disc slot a magnificent purple unicorn springs forth that can grant wishes and loosely tied in its exquisite mane is Shenmue 3.
