The multiplatform,is the choice of some of the major Japanese Publishers, why not AQI?...

And isn´t becoming a major publisher one of their objectives?...It would be hard just doing Wii projects....
I dunno, focusing on Nintendo seems to be working out pretty well for MMV (who's the fastest growing JP pub this gen btw). Nevermind that NMH bomba behind the curtain! :lol

AQI seems to be smartly hedging their bets so far though and really supporting *everyone* (with DS/360 wisely getting the focus)... I don't see much problem with their plans as is honestly. Truthfully PS3 ports aren't going to save anybody, nevermind a fledgling publisher who's likely seeing some level of MGS benefit/incentives in there.

AQI's got a good bit of stuff on the PSP, too, like Anata wo Yurusanai.

To be fair, most of the bad games for the Wii during these few weeks are the standard kind of bad games (Pachinko/Pachislot, Licenced, Simple series) that every successful system gets, rather than the uniquely sinister bad Wii games.

Passing Sunshine probably won't be a problem, but 1m might be a stretch. Never know though, it could imitate the DS Mario games and secretly rack up decent catalog sales outside the top 10 for some time...
The Super Mario Advance games (1 2 3 4) did a fair bit of that, too. For that matter, using the Japan-GameCharts total as final, 25% of Sunshine's sales came from outside of the Top 10. 19% from outside of the Top 30.

13k is a bad first week by any standard.
Not by the standard of Suda 51's previous games.

This whole topic reminds me of when people were trying to decide whether Endless Ocean was a bomb or an improvement on Everblue and its non-charting sequel.

Wii Fit's success, and Wii Sport's of course, makes me curious what Nintendo has in line with Wii Music. If they do it right, they could have their Guitar Hero/Rock Band(if this one takes off) killer.

I suspect that Nintendo will unveil Wii Music at E3 next year and will sell it as the next Wii Game title.

What you said is not out of question. If Wii Music doesn't come out before the end of Q2, then its likely that they'll increase Wii Music's ambitions, transforming it is a true Music game, but more casual-oriented.

True. As said, Wii is fast becoming the trash machine for Third Parties.

I´m kind of surprised with the lack of interesting PS3 titles for the Japanese market for the christmas time....

Oh! Sony my poor dear!! :lol

After GT5 Prologue nothing else will sell for the PS3. The Wii lineup has a lot of games and it looks like a lot of shovelware there but I haven't heard of most of them so I can't be sure.

After this week, Jan 31st will be the next week that matters for the PS3.

Chocobo's Dungeon
We Love Golf!
Soul Calibur Legends
NiGHTS 2
Power Pro Ketteiban

Some are good IPs. Some are good games. Some could be both.

So...what are realistic expectations for titles next week?

SC Legends seems a safe bet to bomb. I also think We Love Golf won't do very well.

NiGHTS first shipment is 90K.

Don't know on Chocobo

GT5 Prologue..who knows since we have the download factor.

Chocobo's Dungeon - Good IP
We Love Golf! - Good game
Soul Calibur Legends - Good IP
NiGHTS 2 - Good IP
Power Pro Ketteiban - Good IP

Some of the "Good IPs" could also be good games.

I know there ppl in GAF who liked the Chocobo Dungeon PSX....,but for me....it´s not a good IP at all....

And for Soul Calibur Legends...is a crappy half assed spin off, more properly for a secundary system than for a succesful system...

That game will do nothing. It might've done well if it'd been on PS3 last week, why Ubisoft didn't release it is just bizarre

Ah. That's the disconnect we're having. You're discussing quality of the game, and I'm reckoning "Good IP" by sales potential of the IP.

It's a good IP for the sole reason that its a Fushigi Na Dungeon game, and in that regard, it's a good IP (Hey, it made me, and I'm sure many others buy Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.)

WLG might catch that Mingol magic though... being from the same developers helps some at least, plus Capcom characters don't hurt. Wii's wide open for it imo, especially considering the super casual base (which is what really drove PS1/2 Mingol sales anyway).

NiGHTS might do better, but with SEGA I'm accustomed to preparing for the worst. :/

Hmm, those are disappointing sales for Tales of Innocence.
Really expected more, but after Tempest, I guess it's not that surprising.
Guess making the DS the main Tales system wasn't the smartest move.

Also kinda surprised at the drop in Dragon Quest IV. Might still make it to a million+ though, unless it takes another substantial drop.

Given the shipment number, it's pretty obvious that Namco expected this. It's likely they're relying on goodwill from the quality of this game to restore confidence and allow future DS Tales games to do well.

The shipment was 160k right?
Don't most Tales games sell through around 80-85+% of their respective shipment numbers in their opening week? Seems kind of under the usual for a Tales game.

Around 160k, yeah. Sinobi had 80k first-day at 50%, so...

It's true that the sellthrough is slightly below the usual in terms of percentage (I base this on the anecdote of other posters, since I'm at work and I don't have time to look up previous shipment sizes/first-week sales), but the mere fact that the shipment itself was so small pretty much says that Namco knew this wouldn't fly off the shelves.

Wii is definitely enjoying the holiday boost (along with WiiFit effect of course), which can be expected considering its main steam appeal, as well as NDS and PSP (a little bit). On the other hand, there is no obvious gain for PS2, XB360, and especially PS3 (which is actually falling). Sony really need to hope GT5P will do good as expected.

It's quite possible, depending on how much more the Wii sells and how little the PS3 sells, that we could see a 3 million unit gap between the two by Jan 1.

Yikes.

Good to seel SMG hanging on.

Shame that even with a low shipment, ToI couldn't exhaust those in its first week. Bomba comfirmed. Same for Minna no Golf Portable 2. >_<

DQIV is dropping a bit faster than I expected as well. Good to see Layton 2 doing well though.

If Wii continues behaving like an early PS2, it should end the year in the 4.4-4.7m range. If PS3 acts like an early GCN (as it seems to this week with the bump wearing off), it will probably end the year in the 1.7-1.9m range. It's possible the difference could be 3 million that soon, but both would have to end up with opposite extremes.
