Media Create Sales 3/26 - 4/1

i don´t think pro baseball spirits 4 had a lot of time in this charts... must been out on april 1st or a day before... sales are usually higher for baseball titles. i expect to see both versions (PS2 and PS3) in the top 30 next week.

you know what? vgcharts is constantly trashed here, and i have to agree, they never have the exact sales for each game, but they got to have some sort of info. maybe MC accounts for 90% and they extrapolate the other 10%?

i mean, you don´t get exact numbers, so you can´t use for any serious business. but if you´re only curious like myself, you can have pretty much an idea of how software sales went.

if they are somewhat right, gumdan musou should be around 30-35. wario ware and zelda should also appear when we get the top 50.

i mean, i can´t be the only one guessing. altough this is the official numbers, they got to have a clue. it can´t be a wild guess everyweek. just my 2 cents defending that their numbers are not "totally" useless.

Nice charts as always cheesmeister....... May I make a suggestion? Can you add a last week position column in the next week chart? So we can see how much the game dropped or recovered

Go Mario Kart Go!!!

ioi doesn't make use of any data that we don't have (in regards to current sales), so why not use his source instead of his extrapolated numbers?

And yes, he does pull numbers out of his ass outright. There was one example where a game had been recalled, not for sale at all in a given week, and he had it down for 8,000 sales or some shit.

Thanks for the info. When does this week take place? Pretty soon? Any good games coming out in it?

and his Phoenix Wright numbers were off by nearly 35%. It's just not an acceptable margin of error without knowing his methods.

Go Mario Kart Go!!!

This is a much more reasonable feature request than a complete history for each title suggested last week.

Damn, that is a huge discrepancy.

I thought the numbers were off, but not by THAT much.

To be fair, some of his numbers are very close, in fact the assumption of regression to the mean would state that most of his numbers are close provided they have some anchor in reality. The problem is that without knowing his methodology, it's impossible to even try to predict which ones are close and which ones are far off, so it's really just best to discard the whole lot of them rather than risk moving forward on a potentially incorrect number.

The sad thing is, I know you're not joking.

As moku said, without Tabris (or one of his replacements) here... something's missing. :p

The breadth of DS sales are simply astonishing - 20 games in the Top 30, many of those in their umpteenth week. The DS has really changed the industry in Japan (for the better!).

Does this make it likely that the PS2 will outsell the PS3 in hardware this week?

I understand where Sony are coming from (make the hardware ultra exclusive for a year while revenues from PS2 are still v. high and then rake in the PS3 cash 12 months after launch) but I can see this hurting their brand a little - especially with the percieved flop of the PSP.

21?Wii?FishingMaster?19000?19000
39?PS3?GundamMousou?8000?238000?
67?Wii?FE?4000?122000?
68?Wii?Naruto?4000?77000?
98?DS?FF3?2000?1009000?

Wii?51000

Are these actual numbers or rumoured? Because my Wii Sports-based Wii hardware algorithm (which, admittedly, has been rather unreliable as of late) predicted Wii hardware sales of 51,278.

That might make sense in the US and EU, where the PS2 is still selling, but with sales at the level they are in Japan (and, aside from this week, software sales not much better), even with a profit on hardware, I can't imagine it's much of a consolation for Sony next to PS3 sales.

Hmm, a few discrepancies between MC and Famitsu as usual.

From what we got yesterday, Orochi crossed 500k, Layton and Fist of the North Star were way above MC position, Yoshi lower, anyway Wii Sports and MHP2 didn't make it in Famitsu top10. Pretty surprised at More English Training just below 50k, wow, yesterday I thought it'd be around 100k because it was just a spot lower than Digimon games combined (which I thought they did better because 50k were on first day). They both tracked KH2FM similar, dunno what to think, it has a remake and the game but still full price, anyway seems SE shipped 300k and won't need to ship more.

Waiting to see MC hardware, should be an interesting thread if they resemble Famitsu ones.

edit: oh, new releases, who will come on top? Naruto PS2, Gundam PSP or Musou DS? :)

The new ranking column is niiiice. It lets me see which titles have legs, which ones are new and which ones are dropping like rocks. That NDS Dragon Ball Z game, for example.

I'd suggest the same thing for hardware, but there wouldn't be any point, really. I'm thinking a bit of a dip for Wii (holding back units for golden week) and maybe a sub-20k week for the PS3... DS at around 100k and PSP somewhere around 40k.

i'm pretty confident gundam seeds on psp will do some good numbers.
anyway i've been looking at psp line up for the coming months and it looks really really good, should keep the hardware sales hovering around 40000 to 50000 for a quite a while

OP edited to include last week's rankings. It'll also work for the top 50 tonight. Comments welcome.

It would be nice if all new titles for the week were marked/bolded instead of just the top 10. That way one doesn't have to go back and check last week's new titles and compare. (I guess the fact that new titles have 00 for the previous weeks ranking works just as well though)

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
You know, I was just looking at the DS line-up for May so far and the best games I could find coming out were: some Dimps fighter, some action anime game, and Hoshigami... yeah, it's that bad.

Thank God. My wallet was crying silently into the night, after being raped like a girl in a hentai tenticle porn scene.

You mean US line-up? Because the japanese one is not bad at all...

edit: Nevermind, I was looking at April...

The PSP line up doesn't look that much better to me. Though it's probably just my tastes.

Pokemon comes out this month, so I'm happy as hell with just my DS. :)

PSP's line-up has been pretty dry in Japan since Monster Hunter 2 launched. Sony's obviously spread out the line-up to try and make it look better since now Final Fantasy II and Ratchet are coming out in June (they were originally scheduled for May and March respectively).

These are the slow months when publishes unload their B level wares. It's always been like this though I doubt it will slow DS sales in the US or Japan.

DS Feb NPD performance was just insane. Diddy Kong outsold the PSP top 6 combined.

I'm guessing that in Japan the usual gang of NSMB, AC etc. will get back into top 10 if there aren't many new titles competing for the top spots.

Hmm.. US Price cut, two huge titles re-scheduled for the same month... what could this mean?

This thread is dangeriously small. Anyway, a very strong week in Japan, seeing Fishing Master at 21st selling 19k and that Animal Crossing and More Brain Traning are so far down on the list.

Any major releases this week?

Mario vs. Donkey Kong for GBA did about 200k, I think. March of the Minis might have a good chance at 400k or so. International Daredemo Asobi Taizen (Clubhouse Games with online) is about to make it to Japan as well, that should sell really well, if they aren't satisfied with the version (without online) they got at launch.

Everyone is like, "ah, well, we already know what it'll be, why look?" :lol

Nintendo has gained a lot of power in a short amount of time, I'll say that.

It seems that all games are doing good all around, but the norms are not just short of making the top 10.

Golden Week this year is going to be so exciting. Who will win? :)

More English has started off slow, but it should have solid legs. There is a possibility that it might not cross 1 million sold though which seems hard to fathom.

As a critique for Cheesemeister:
Visually, it's not as accessible without the bold. One thing you could do to make it more visually appealing is to change the rankings. Place dashes (--) for new titles instead of '00'. That may stand out more. Or have it bolded. Just a suggestion.

Pokemon really eding to the 5 million mark. Nice. :)

Animal Crossing seems a tad lower compared to Media-Create, right? It hasn't even crossed 4 million.

Now that I remember it, where is Pokemon!? Isn't it the first time without at least one version on top30? I guess combined may put it in top20 or so but hey, its going down. How much until it matches Ruby/Sapphire?

Every one talking about Nintendo doing a Japanese training game, but they should really do a Spainish training game for America. That would make big money here. Japanese training would make a little bit of cash vut not the cash Spainsh training would make.

It's the first time yes, they're both probably in the 31-50 area though. Hasn't D/P already sold more than R/S?
