JudgeN said:So do we think MGS4 will break the 300k barrier? I would hope it would do 500k in Japan if not 1M but we know 1M isn't happening.

Then again, everything went down except for 360 and PS3. Perhaps the tide is turning?

Wii Fit already has over a 100k lead on the PS3, so I doubt it's gonna happen next week.Pachael said:Maybe next week, if MGS4 gives PS3 a huge bump that takes it over WiiFit? (And of course, the PS3 stays ahead of the Balance Board to show how futile the comparison is/was?)
Going by the celebration in the NPD thread for the PS3 cracking 200k, I'd say expectations have been lowered. I could see some chest bumping going on for 25k.PantherLotus said:I would say "prepare to be devastated" but the average MC-reader should be able to recognize that the PS3 has sold less than 25k for 18 weeks in a row (4.5 months). MGS4 will do very little to change that.
I'm not sure what the competition is, but for comparison here's MGS2 and 3's first and second weeks, to see the drop. This week with Dragon Ball, next with MGS4 and if MGS4 has a decent second week it could also claim the #1 spot the following week. Or am I missing some other big releases for other systems? (Tales is coming out on the 26th right?)

Panther, do you still update your graph with the PS360 lead in the states?PantherLotus said:

Take your time.Vinnk said:Sorry guys the report is going to be a bit late. I am totally swamped at work. But here are a few tidbits:
1. MGS4 is not sold out.
2. The bundels are almost sold out in my town (only 2 left)
3. AN interesting new theory on the PSP software sales after talking to some shop owners.
I'll try to get it up tomorrow. Again sorry for the delay.

You only predicted 9300? You don't think with the release of MGS that it can't do at least 15-20k?

Ok, thanks for the info I wonder if Famitsu and/or Media Create will count the bundles. If they do, we might maybe see around 400k the first week?Kurosaki Ichigo said:test_account, yeah, the bundles are the PS3 + MGS4 (Hagane being the Gunmetal gray console and the Welcome Boxes being the normal 3-colors 40GB). I think the total to be distributed was around 80-100k of bundles, but its not mentioned in this first day sales.
Also, I think its worth nothing that the normal edition costs as much as Wii Fit :lol . Its probably the most expensive (standalone, non LE) game since FFXII (SE usually prices their main FF and DQ at this price). It isn't even the usual price bump many games on 360 and PS3 are seeing (from ~7000Y to ~7800Y), its even more. MGS3 was 7329Y.
Notorious_Roy said:So the PSP keeps on selling the most. Does anybody know what the Japanese are playing on PSP now (is it really only Monster Hunter?)? How often do you see people in public with a PSP, are they playing on it, or using it for media? And if they are playing, are the games warez or not?
Here in Holland I see some people using the PSP mostly for media, the 'cool' youth is waving them around showing the shiny handheld and listening to the latest rap music. The older people are watching TV shows mostly. When someone is actually playing their PSP it's either a NFS or FIFA.
DS is seen the most in public, mostly by kids playing Pokemon. Older people (up to 30 I guess) are either playing Training games or using a flashcard.
Solid start. Any other first day sales available yet?Kurosaki Ichigo said:First day sales
