Phanton Hourglass stills in top ten and Dragon Quest Swords can reach 500k! Happy of that!

Bloody hell at MP8. Seriously it didn't drop at all!

Nice for HSG5, hanging in.

Wow, I'm gobsmacked at how well DK has held up in its second week! And look at the massive comeback for Nintendo's My Housekeeping Diary...clearly it dropped like a bomb due to shortages then, rather than lack of interest.

It's a Wonderful World looks like it could keep trekking to the magical 300,000 unit mark ;) And DQS showing excellent legs, but can it stretch them enough to reach 700,000? Hope so! :)

You're joking, yeah? It still hasn't sold out its initial 200k shipment. Like I've said before, I'm skeptical we'll ever see it crack that because I don't expect retailers to order another shipment.

Yet it hasn't affected Wii Sports sales. If anything the weekly attach rate for Wii Sports has been going up slightly.

That was the week of the holiday. "The rising tide lifts all ships." The DS, Wii, and 360 showed increases.
I dislike having to compare Media-Create and Famitsu numbers to each other, though.
I'll be surprised if the PS3 stays > 20K with next week's numbers.

This title deserves much more attention. It is one of the best platformer ever released for DS. More original, various and funny than the King, SMB DS

Ahh that might help explain MP8's numbers then?

Ah, ok. What holiday exactly was it that week?

The holiday that made us wait an extra week for Media-Create numbers. ;) I think it's Obun Day or something. There was a Wikipedia link in last week's Media-Create thread.

Edit:
What The Sphinx said. :)

My Housekeeping Diary's comeback is impressive, but the game had an error in one of the calculations, so it was taken off the market until fixed.

Still, there's more interest in the title than I expected.

Ethel, weren't people reporting IAWW's price had gone back to normal following the early cuts? Also, the game's been selling at a consistent rate for the past few weeks. Better than expected, given the doom and gloom.

It's not better than I expected... I said from the start that I figured it'd hit that LTD cap of 200k by selling out its first shipment. The point is, we're now at week... what, 5? I still don't anticipate further sales beyond that (which it looks like we'll hit at week 7).

That is pretty bad.

Worst selling DS SquareEnix game?

:(

Looks like MinGol 5 was really a PS3 saver afterall.

Coining it now: Rule of 3.

3 games need to come out that you could picture yourself buying for a system purchase to be justified, given a person is OK with paying the console/handheld price.

If I had to guess at the three titles that would cause this "rule" to kick in for the PS3 in Japan: MNG 5, Gundam, and My Summer Vacation 3

It's just a thought.

NDS Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book 139,944 (July 1, 2007)

I think those sales were considered "good," though. If it helps, that game came out in the U.S., so maybe IAWW would, too?

Edit:
For clarification, I was just trying to find a Square-Enix game that sold less than IAWW did. I'm not trying to say this is the worst selling Square-Enix game on the DS, as ethelred pointed out lower sellers below.

It seems the MinnaBump is still the same as GundaBump so far though (in terms of hardware sales).
I guess if it still stays over 20k next week, then it really was the game it needed.

Nah, not even close. Front Mission 1st (a game which has been remade/ported twice since the SFami, once for the PSX and once for the WonderSwan) takes that dubious honor.

Heroes of Mana (a bit over 80k, most of which came at the 500 yen mark) and Egg Monster Hero (around 90k) both sold much worse, too.

Ehn, given the size of the original shipment, I'd say expectations were higher on IAWW. I mean, it's not a bomb, they'll at least get through the inventory, but I wouldn't be popping bottles of champagne over it.

I know this has been brought up before, but I don't remember seeing an actual answer: What are Japanese gamers playing on their PSPs? I'm amazed at how much this thing sells considering the software's rarely on the charts.

Anyway, good for Sony.

Well, so far it's shattered its predecessor's sales on GBA. I'm looking forward to it when it comes stateside.

EDIT: Mario Party 8 is definitely breaking one million.

You make it sound like it'll just drop off the face of the Earth in two weeks. Surely more copies will make it onto the shelves if people are still buying between 15,000-20,000 units a week...Whatever, guess we'll just have to wait and see. On a personal slant I hope it does indeed carry on selling because it's a pretty enjoyable and stylish game.

NPD will show the MP8 success is global.

The last figures we had put Mario Party 8 at over 700,000 in just the U.S. alone and those were only through the end of July. I say it has a chance of breaking one million alone in the U.S. when we get August numbers, but it'll definitely reach that number in September.

I can see Mario Party 8 doing an easy 3.5 million worldwide. Crazy.

NintendosBooger said:
So what are the chances of Mario Strikers hitting 1m world wide by the end of this year?

We don't know European figures at all and I doubt the game sold much in the July NPD reporting period (it was out for less than a week). Maybe when we get August's NPD and its Media Create sales then we can judge.

Hmm...We'll have to see tomorrow's NPD. Seems like it did very well in Europe.

Wow at Mario Party and PH once again. :D There's no doubt that Wii Sports and Wii Play have DS-legs. We'll see these games charting for a looong time.

I don't normally post in MC threads, though I enjoy the numbers and charts, a big wow at the software numbers all around. And a big FU to the MP8 trolling, it's fun!

Not necessarily, if they had to be discounted to clear them out.
