OK is 大丈夫 ? Wasn't that daijobu ? safe, sure, all right ? I am learning Japanese, and interested in OK = 大丈夫. In Chinese, daijobu means gentlemen.

I'm only learning Japanese, but I think that "OK" is an alright translation. If someone falls or something, I believe it's alright to say "大丈夫ですか" in response.

[Edit: However, I think you need to be careful, in that I'm not sure that "大丈夫" can be translated to mean "permissible", which is the sense in which onken used "OK".]

onken said:
It's OK (大丈夫), he (彼) lives (住んでいる) in (に) Japan (日本)

Of course, what he did was unnecessary, but I don't think that that's cause to be rude about it.

Mehdi-san contributed Nintendo 2010 brochure scan, and also scan of Chicken Mario. Look it up in the Inside Nintendo thread. I think it is better if onken refrain from repeating his "joke" post.

i think ST's fall comes from several factors combined like low Hype, PH disappointment, being a spinoff and too similar looking to the last game.

OoT/MM is the most acurrate example of this since the game looked a lot like it's predecessor and it was a game that probably didn't have much hype (at least that's how i remember it. there wasn't much excitement before MM was out because it was a "side game". it really became a classic after people played it)

still, ST has decent sales. it beat TP and almost all other handheld Zeldas. we have to remember that japan is very price collapse friendly and quick to do so. didn't MH3 and FFXIII join the bomba bins pretty fast despite being quite sucessful?

Looking at these old Zelda numbers makes me notice how Spirit Tracks seems to be performing very similarly to Wind Waker. Both being December releases probably helps them match up like this.

Anyone knows which these two games are (from Nifty)?

快刀乱麻 雅 快刀乱麻雅 (イマディオ) - 21/01/99

今夜も千両箱!! (イースリースタッフ) - 11/03/99

Both are for Playstation but I can't find which ones they are.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found them.

I just woke up and realized I missed the whole thing with onken. Maybe it wasn't necessary, but there's a little of a negative meaning to the word inaka, which I am not sure countryside has. English is not my native language (neither Japanese) but French, so I have no confidence about my English level. Anyway, looking up online, I found this expression: "the sticks", but I've never used and never heard it before, so I went with "inaka" :p

For future reference, both "the sticks" and "the boondocks/the boonies" are ways to refer to rural areas that have negative implications in English. "Bumblefuck" or "East Bumblefuck" are even ruder, more negative ways to refer to the countryside.

Colloquialisms are a bitch.

Wow @ Estpolis indeed though. Super Mega Bomba. No, ULTRA Super Mega Bomba! What in the world was S-E thinking just throwing it out like that?

Yeah, that did that with Cross Treasures too, curious why they are just throwing out ds games to die. For the life of me I still don't get what exactly happened with cross treasures and the compleate lack of trying on square's part.

Finally, after 2 long months, everyone's prediction is a reality.
What was the prediction again, that the PS3 would outsell the Wii in 2010 (some weeks in 2010 or 2010 as a whole?) mostly because of the good/strong PS3 hardware sales in December 2009?

Partly because of the momentum PS3 had in December yes, but more so that PS3's Q1 software lineup was looking much, much better than Wii's, which has pretty much nothing. GT5(at the time), Yakuza 4, End of Eternity, RE5: AE, SO4 International, Ar Tonelico 3, against Reginleiv.

No one expected NSMB Wii on its own to carry Wii as far as it has.

Nice. Reginleiv must have sold almost all of its first printing. Nintendo will probably make another one (printing, not game).

I figure this is the place to ask a question like this. I've been playing dragon quest V on the DS and it got me thinking about the sales of the mainline games.
Does anyone have the sales data for all the main original release DQ games? I'm especially curious about part 1 but also to just wanna see how quickly the sales ramped up for the series.
Thanks if anyone has this data.

Didnt get to stores this week but went shopping with my wife at Jusco in Nogata. The game was sold out. It was the only Wii title sold out. There were promotional leaflets for the Nitendo low priced rerelease games. And ample copies of NSMBwii could be found. Big display was put up for MG Peace Walker.
Sorry only one store is not so useful. I will try to see more this weekend.

Kenka Banchou 4 has improved on ALL its predecessors by a significant margin. Pretty impressive. Shiren is now on a definite decline. I'm also glad OG Saga Exceed is performing worse than the previous entry. What a shameless game.

I didn't buy a copy, I am sure many people didn't either, just because it's not an RPG...

I saw no shortage of Reginleiv at the stores I hit up last weekend. Guess that second stock came out.

Poor Espgaluda 2! Wonder if it'll even break 10k! Would be a shame as it's such a great game!

Thanks for the updates on Reginleiv, guys. We will see if it will sell more in the future.

It's... not?

I'm ignoring this game (I love the original), but I guess it's even worse than I expected.

I ask because I can see "One piece unlimited" on that nintendoeverything article, but no Muramasa!?

Those are first week numbers, they only came out last week.

That's why I asked, as I understand that all of the Wii budget re-release came out simultaneously. :)

Yet I see no Muramasa on the chart linked before even if duckroll said it actually sold more than One piece (which does appear on the chart).

Maybe there's some over/undertracking involved, since numbers of the two games seems pretty close? Or even completely different trackers (not sure if duckroll's numbers are from Famitsu, Media Create or something else)

Ah ok, i see. Ye, the PS3 software lineup had more big titled games being released compared to the Wii software lineup indeed, so i would also think that the PS3 had a chance to sell more than the Wii in the begining of 2010, but NSMB Wii seems to have a much longer efect on the Wii hardware sales than many people (at least i dont think that NSMB Wii would have this good effect on the Wii hardware sales for a fairly long period of time) thought indeed as you say. Thanks for the answer! :)

By the way, NSMB Wii has been within the Top 10 since it launched, hasnt it? I wonder how long NSMB Wii will stay within the Top 10. How long did Wii Sports and Wii Fit stay within the Top 10? And has Wii Fit Plus dropped out of the Top 10 since it was released?

The ones I posted are Famitsu, the other chart is Media Create.
