SMT Switch is multiplatform ?
It's speculated because the website lists "SMT, 3DS Game" and "SMT, HD Game" on the same page.

It's kind of weird to list the platform for one and not the other if it's Switch exclusive.

That said, I don't think Atlus has said either way.

It's not, I believe the Switch and 3DS SMT are different games.

We don't know. The only hint is that it's called an "HD" prorject alongside the 3DS game specified as a "3DS" project on their website.

Folks take that to mean it's likely PS4-bound also. It could very well be Switch-exclusive, we don't know.

it has been qualified by Atlus as a "HD game", iirc. Not a "switch exclusive". This is a guess, but it makes sense.

can't wait for the "SMT5 is held back by switch, why is it not PS4 exclusive"

Uh yeah, I also think that it's probably coming to PS4 too if only because of the "HD" mention, but it hasn't been announced in any way as a multiplatform game, so for now it shouldn't be counted as one.

too late. SMT is multiplat, monster hunter too, RE or KH won't ever come, Pack it up guys, we're done here. there is only room for the PS4.

On topic, I hope Nintendo and/or third parties communicate in the coming weeks, They have to dissipate doubts. And Zelda won't carry the thing forever.
IMO, and provided they have enough to show, they should do a "third party direct". Their indie direct was a blast.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
So this is it? After 3 weeks and what can be considered as a successful launch, switch is already considered a wasted cause by some of the most optimistic and enthusiast GAFers when it comes to Nintendo?

Well, I guess it had a good run. :^)

I would say that boredom is the no1 source of this argument - people being worried for the sake of being worried two weeks in. Cant wait for some entering full on Diva Mode once the system actually starts having lower sales - should be fun.

Switch massively under performing and devs being happy with the PS4/PSV eco system for the future is the only way i could see a WiiU situation repeating.

I see other people have covered SMT.

Does anyone have the list of unreleased Japanese third party games slated for Vita and/or PS4 in 2017?

I think that's also a list worth comparing to since the odds of getting Switch third party exclusives when the Switch has above 360/PS3 level hardware are low, meaning they're also the list of games that were candidates for a Switch release.

By no means a comprehensive list(trying to just think of stuff that would be within Switch's grasp):

Blue Reflection
Musou Stars
Fire Pro
FFXII remaster
Zero Escape: Nonary Games
Sen no Kiseki 3
Resident Evil Revelations HD(lol)
Dat weird crossover Virtual On(2018 game for Vita!)
Omega Labyrinth Z
Exile Election
Itadaki Street(this one seems really egregious)

prepare for the accurate sales numbers of doom

Honestly, and I know nothing can be extrapolate from launch numbers, see WiiU yada yada, but I can't imagine Switch doing WiiU numbers. Let's be honest, WiiU was a flawed unappealing product, period. Switch may have its flaws, but they are not as endogenous as WiiU's ones.
Now WiiU let a mighty bad taste in a lot of third party devs, and that's probably the reason why they are so scarce this time. let's see how things will pan out in the next 2 months. By E3, some devs could consider that finally their coming game could benefit from a switch port.

edit :

Oregano uses list
it's super effective!
switch is dead

come on, since you've woken up, you have been spreading negativity about this damn thing...

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
SMT is multiplatform and even if wasn't SMT and Octopath Traveler aren't close to comparable to Resident Evil or Kingdom Hearts. As for Tales we don't even know what they have planned(if it ever materializes), it might not even end up as significant as Tales of the Abyss 3D.

I dunno- maybe I'm missing some data, but after a quick look it appears that RE Revelations, KH 3DS, SMT IV, and Bravely Default (if someone has a better comparison for octopath traveler I'm all ears) all sold pretty similar in Japan.

That's because Revelations and Kingdom Hearts both underperformed(especially KH3D) vs SMTIV doing quite well and Bravely Default massively overperforming. As shows of support the formers are much more significant.

Octopath Travellers won't perform anywhere close to BDFF and looks lower budget too.

For the veteran Sales-Agers, what exactly happened with Sonic's popularity in Japan?

How did it go from this:
DC Sonic Adventure 2 84.508 108.480 SEGA 6/23/2001
GBA Sonic Advance 38.454 204.542 SEGA 12/20/2001
NGC Sonic Adventure 2: Battle 30.295 192.186 SEGA 12/20/2001
GBA Sonic Advance 2 28.974 176.541 SEGA 12/19/2002

to this in such a short timeframe:
GBA Sonic Advance 3 6.732 42.574 SEGA 6/17/2004
NDS Sonic Rush 3.536 3.536 SEGA 11/23/2005
PS3 Sonic the Hedgehog 9.770 30.390 SEGA 12/21/2006
360 Sonic the Hedgehog 3.625 6.647 SEGA 12/21/2006
WII Sonic and the Secret Rings 9.353 30.563 SEGA 3/15/2007
NDS Sonic Rush Adventure 2.545 2.545 SEGA 10/18/2007

It seems like even the good Sonic games (not counting Mario & Sonic obviously) sell like 30K max in Japan now.

Also how has Lego never seemed to catch on in Japan? Lego City Undercover did relatively well (74K Wii U, 58K 3DS), which seems to show some potential (perhaps thanks to Nintendo's marketing?), but seemingly none of the other games seem to sell.

Since we've talked so much about third party announcements before and after launch, actual releases and such, I've decided to create two posts where we set the records clear on different points of discussion

MGS and ZOE HD Collections were also announced at Sony's pre-TGS conference 2011 for Vita.

That should be our reference to see how Switch is progressing over the next couple months. Things got disastrous for Wii U by its 12th week (or Week 8 in 2013), not long before this period today.

Yup, as I said previously though it's not the fact that Switch isn't getting all of those games, it's the fact it's getting none of them.

MGS and ZOE HD Collections were also announced at Sony's pre-TGS conference 2011 for Vita.

Vita's last somewhat notable title for Japan, that I can see at least, is going to be Accel World vs. SAO this week (and that may struggle to crack 100k LTD).

Lol. Of course. It couldn't be that the games you used to prove your point weren't quite as impactful as you made it seem. And I love the certainty regarding OT.

If OT reaches 200k I'll import the Japanese version and then rebuy the English version
that Square Enix refuses to localise themselves.

I don't know why you keep arguing for software support of a system that will be delayed to holidays. There is still plenty of time.

Maybe it was just the third party support that was delayed.

Nintendo sells, what they can ship and I guess the next MC numbers will be again something around 60k as the ramped up production of the system won't kick in 'till around the end of April I guess.

It's unlikely Nintendo shipped for Switch for 3rd week the same amount with 2nd. Shipments are likely lower and there are hints they'll rise again at 4th.

Ah right, sincere curiosity. Do you still believe Disgaea 5 Complete will only sell 20,000 units worldwide?

I think it will be in that ballpark.

I've already preordered 10k copies just to prove him wrong.

lol, I'm glad they put it on the Nintendo UK Store so I could preorder the Limited Edition without having to make a new account for something.

Hm, so the 3DS never dipped below 15K except the week before the pricecut in its first 30 weeks? Not bad at all.

Yup and software did quite well. 3DS was judged to a standard that no other system has been.

So you're the one who brought the Limited Edition availability on NISA.com down to 11-25%? What a big achievement, then!

The Limited Edition supply is surely much smaller than 10,000 (probably more like 1/10th), before anyone starts making extrapolations from that :p

It depends if they shipped "everything" they've got on the first week or not I guess. -Also first week sale-through was around 95% so there weren't that many left from the initial shipment. Well I guess we'll see how many units will be sold, if it's around 50k then it's likely what Nintendo can deliver on a weekly basis for now.

Even if nintendo shipped the same 3rd week as 2nd the 2nd has the bonus of the systems unsold from the launch (presumably things like uncollected and late collected preorders)

Ahh I remember the days when Phantasy Star Nova was the last big Vita game.

Funnily enough, SaGa Scarlet Grace was announced a month after Phantasy Star Nova and I'd argue that held the mantle as "potential to be the last big Vita game" for quite some time (in the end, it didn't even get close, but never mind).

But, KanColle Kai had been announced months before PSN released and that's another one that had the potential to be huge, so I'm not sure your quote is really correct. I don't remember anyone saying that either really, but maybe that's just me.

Vita has managed to keep a steady stream of 100k+ games throughout its life with a couple of 200k-400k games thrown in each year, but there's really nothing like that for 2017. We've had the three potential 100k sellers we know about as of Thursday (DanganRonpa; Super Robot Wars; Accel World), I don't see anything else that can come close. And personally, I don't see anything else being announced at this point, barring a God Eater 3 miracle.

Didn't know there was a video game adaptation of Re:Zero. Looked it up and...of course it had to be a romance visual novel.

KanColle and SaGa were both vapourware though.

In regards to God Eater it really depends on whether they want God Eater 3 to be the last one? If they do it will skip Vita. lol

It's weird they still haven't revealed it. I wonder if the terrible reception to Online made them delay.

Yeah, I'm sure publishers want to kill the handheld market that is still significantly bigger than the home console market in Japan. They might just not care enough to relieve random forum goers from such insecurities.

They often care more about the far larger overseas market. Many have explicitly stated this.

So after five or six years of '3DS is doomed' posts in Q1 on GAF, the usual suspects are now targeting Switch. Mother of God.

Piss poor false equivalency. As pointed earlier in the thread, 3DS had more notable third party announcements, many of them being completely exclusive.

List of announced PS4/Vita Japanese games missing Switch 2017 as of now (gap between missed and to be missed):

Hatsune Mike Project Diva
Danganronpa 3
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star
Valjyria Revolution
Tales of Berseria
Nioh
RE7
Yakuza 0
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
Digimon World: Next Order
Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk
Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey
Nier: Automata
Danganronpa 1•2 Reload
Accel World VS Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight
Toukiden 2
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games
KH 1.5+2.5 HD Remix

Persona 5
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception
Tekken 7
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Dark Rose Valkyrie
Earth Defense Force 5
Guilty Gear Xrd Rev.2
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Metal Gear Survive
Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon

Rakuten Books Ranking Week 10, 2017 (Mar 06 - Mar 12)

***WARNING***

* Note: Games on the Rakuten Books Rankings are ONLY based on sales at Rakuten Books and does NOT count games sold by other retailers at Rakuten.
** Note 2: Games on the Pre-Orders Ranking are counted as net sales, so it might possibly affect the games listed on the Sales Ranking, since those sales are NOT added afterwards.

What are big numbers? We don't need to be vague about these things. Is it going to get the same support as PS4? No. Is it going to get the same support as 3DS? Highly unlikely. Is it going to get more support than WiiU? Without a doubt.

Third parties will treat it as the 3DS' successor. It won't be "the same" considering the jump from 240p to 720p-1080p, so budgets will go up and there will be fewer exclusive releases, but it should be clear by the end of this year how third parties will look at the Switch.

Not too much to say. Double Cross is everywhere. The producer was at Sofmap Akiba.

No Switch news, no life. Until next week. However, there were re-stocks of PS4 Pro and Famicom Mini.

Are Mario Kart's pre-orders looking strong? They seem good to me, but I'm not good at judging these.

Switch will probably have fewer exclusives than the 3DS, but as long as it gets games it'll be fine. Having something to play is more important than being the only place where you can play something.

Bandai Namco's producer has said that Accel World vs. SAO will be the final SAO release on Vita. Based on those retailer charts, it looks the Vita version has outsold the PS4 one, despite having an anime-like frame rate. The series is so popular in the west that this entry is being released as a PSN-exclusive on both platforms in North America.

Thanks for putting in the work Mpl90. Overall I'd still say Switch doesn't compare favorably to either 3DS or Vita and whilst it has more smaller
irrelevant
games than the PS4 nothing compares to FFXV and KH3(which are de facto exclusives unlike DQXI).
Are you fucking shitting me?
I wouldn't pursue this shit further because there's some serious bias going on with your perception towards the Switch.
So this is it? After 3 weeks and what can be considered as a successful launch, switch is already considered a wasted cause by some of the most optimistic and enthusiast GAFers when it comes to Nintendo?

Well, I guess it had a good run. :^)
Pack it up folk, Switch will be discontinued by the end of this month because there's no third party announcement this week.

To be serious, the Wii U catastrophic failure deal tremendous damage to their optimism that might not heal for at least

PS4 early year really had it though. 3DS got a stellar support though, probably because there wasn't much technological gap between it and DS/PSP.

Anyway, people can make up argument that PS4 had big games announced on its earliest lifetime, namely FFXV, KHIII, MGSV (from that list). Out of that three game, two have been released and give significant hardware boots on their first week. In the context of Switch, an imagined similar situation would be MH5 announced for Switch. The thing is, MHXX probably already too deep in the development and announcement of a next mainline game on a new hardware would kill interest on a game that supposedly become a bridge to the new generation. FE: Switch could actually count as one, but it's a 1st party game and its announcement only served to confirm its existence.
Why are you listing games like Yakuza 0?

List made up from bunch of things that doesn't make sense in its context is the easiest way to prove one's point.
