All of RE5 Gold's content can be downloaded onto the original version of RE5, except for the Move controls. I'm sure many people are rebuying RE5 Gold for the extra content, but we saw RE4 sell for many years at a budget price, and I think this is a repeat of that.
For sure. Move bundle only sold 16k according to Media Create who tracked it separately, although deducting that would just about put MGS4 slightly ahead again, it wouldn't be for long. I was more wondering how much MGS4 would be at if a Integral/Substance/Subsistence type version had been released.

Thanks. Looks like RE5 did OK, better than CVX and RE0. Short from RE4 and RE3 but way off from RE1 and RE2.

Unlike Europe Nintendo flyers at a Japanese wallpaper have Kid Icarus for 2011.

Today is the 28th anniversary of Famicom.

But MH seems kinda low this year, not as strong legs on PSP, Diary G seems to be a bit in the dark, not much hype on P3HD either.
Legs aren't as strong because of the insanely high initial sell through.
And the fact that most of the sales of previous Monster Hunter Freedom titles come from budget releases.

Also at this point in MHP2G's life (~7 months after launch) Capcom had already released the best version.

Wow top 3 is very similar to the US chart. LA Noire number one, bad game number two, and infamous number 3.

This has been brought up all over the place in 2ch- Japanese blogs, but I feel it's worth a mention here:

[PSP] Class of Heroes 2 (Acquire) - 45,282 / 70,615 / 64.13%
___
PS3 Class Of Heroes 3 2010/10/07 14,892 / 26,692 49.85 PSP Class of Heroes 3 2010/10/07 30,572 / 55,022 60.53 ___
PS3 Class Of heroes 2G 2010/07/22 7477 / 16,307 44.66

16./00. [3DS] Class of Heroes 3D | RPG | (Acquire) {2011.07.07} | ¥5.800 | - 8.353 / NEW Not the happiest comparison numbers for a game that is considered the best version in the series, Received the highest score from Famitsu.

I see the explanation for this as possibly:

1. 3d naming problems, this is a brand new entry in the series but calling it class of heroes 3d confuse things(thus perhaps 2g is a better comparison)
2. The elementary-school/middle school market(game is heavily geared towards them) isn't in possession of 3ds yet, makes me really looking forward to how pokemon is going to do.

I think it's caused more by the fact that the install base isn't big as PSP one at the time when the other ones came out; and also for the name, confusing.

Niche games need install base to sell but releasing them at the beginning of the of a console is an operation in order to start to create a fanbase for future titles, as done with the 2G on PS3... which led the way for the 3. And it's the first one on a Nintendo console!

I don't think the lack of a sufficient elementary-school/middle school market has had a big impact

Does the 3D really confuse people? I mean, back in the 80s we saw a rash of movies in 3D that were also the 3rd movie in the series.

Amityville 3D, Jaws 3-D, uh, well, maybe that's just it (or maybe I just can't remember them)

Think time will show that it's just a problem of it being conceptually flawed and the general market rejecting it.
Many considered Wii's motion controls to be "conceptually flawed" due to lack of accuracy and other limitations.

In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find games outside of Nintendo's own (Wii Sports / Resort) that truly utilized the motion controls in a practical manner.

In the end though, the market just did not give a shit, and bought the Wii in spades.

3DS will fail or succeed based on quality software, even if it does not use 3D OR touch controls in a clever way.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Or people just dont give a shit because its pretty much a port of an year old game which already has been released on two more spreaded plattforms ? I dont think we need to look that hard for explanation for every niche game and port which doesnt sell on 3DS....

Rhythm Heaven belongs to mini-games and has the potential to be this year's first million seller, Wii Party did great, Itadaki Street will be fine and Mario Party 9 could be the best selling Mario Party ever.

Wii Play: Motion will have legs but I think it lost its appeal with Rhythm Heaven so close and the inclusion of another Wiimote, even if it doesn't add to the price.

Also is the game any good? It wasn't internally developed and I saw a very low score from a site import.

In NA though party games are dead, Wii Party showed it and I doubt Mario Party 9 will come close to mario party 8.

SCEJ makes me so sad :( They're in competition with Spike ...

As for Level-5, I think they'll find this news very encouraging. Ratings for The Little Battlers Xperience have shot up dramatically in the past few weeks post game release.

As for Level-5, I think they'll find this news very encouraging. Ratings for The Little Battlers Xperience have shot up dramatically in the past few weeks post game release.
Who is the head of SCEJ?
Maybe they need change of head?

I dont think that would do anything. Its pretty clear that sony as a worldwide entity has decided to move most of its development resources to their US first parties. Cant really blame them as the US is just too big a market compared to Japan. At least take solace in the fact that the JP devs left are generally very good (Team Ico, polyphony)

Ok,this is too much EVEN for them :lol :lol
When is the movie out?
Can they even link both the versions to...let's say...a new Mystery Dungeon? :lol

Out of curiousity I googled it and it appears that most of them are aesthetic differences but the plot is basically the same. Different pokemon appear depending on which version of the movie you watch and certain sequences are altered such as in one movie there is a fork in the path and they go left to a hot dessert but in the other movie they take a right towards a snowy area.

I also assume that like all the other movies if you take Black/White game you get an exclusive pokemon or special in some way. It also appears that it came out this weekend in Japan sometime.

I'd rather want Sony to invest in new SCEJ games instead of another Resistance, Socom or Killzone those games don't do that great anyway so I don't really understand their focus on developing games that the third parties could make. How about they let Guerilla team-up with one of their Japan teams, the result could be something quite cool.

If they care about Vita succeeding I'd suggest they throw money to Japan, as to be quite honest, they're the only ones who could realistically make a first party killer game for the platform.

Also is the game any good? It wasn't internally developed and I saw a very low score from a site import.
Again not internally developed?? The developing capacity of Nintendo's studios is completely inadequate:

EAD 1: Mario Kart 3DS
EAD 2: Starfox 3D (done, co-dev with Q-games); Animal Crossing 3DS
EAD 3: Skyward Sword (finished, after...another Zelda probably).
EAD 4: Pikmin 3 for Wii U
EAD 5: Unknown (after Wii Fit Plus, they co-dev Steel Diver with Vitei)
EAD Tokyo: Super Mario 3DS
HAL: Kirby Wii
Int Sys: Paper Mario 3DS
Monolith: Unknown Wii U game

We can also add Kid Icarus from Sakurai' Sora; Unknown Wii U game from Retro Studios and Pokémon games from Creatures. Of yeah: Monster games and NLG as well.

Still, for a company having two systems is this enough? Every Nintendo's studio should be able to at least develop two games at once.

By the way, Wii Play Motion had some of the most talented Japanese niche software house worked on it, such as Skip (Chibi-robo, Captain Rainbow), Chun Soft. (Shiren the Wanderer, some Dragon Quest back in the days) and Prope (Let's Tap).

I´m not sure if I am the correct person to ask for it, but reading the latest doom and gloom-discussion in the MML3-cancellation topic:

Could someone who´s knowledgeable about worldwide system sales create a new topic about the 3DS´ sales history *so far*? Point of the topic would be to have a facts-supported debate about its success/failure.

Personally, I´ve lost track abot how good/bad 3DS is going, so I´d find such a topic interesting. Just an idea, though.

It's 5 years after the PS3 launched, Team ICO's first game will be an HD Collection of their PS2 games....PD took 5 years to deliver (at the time) an unfinished product. SCEJ is completely dependent on 3rd parties for any kind of success in Japan whereas SCEA and SCEE are a little better off delivering quality content and games. SCEJ is also cockblocking SCEE and SCEA from helping out with FW updates.

Without complete European numbers we can't talk for worldwide sales. Last quarter's shipments will show if 3DS sales were bad or very bad.

It was also produced by SPD1, of Metroid, Wario Ware, Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi Collection fame. And yeah, it's developer list was a real all-star group.

Next week,new color for 3DS.
I think this is the main reason for its drop.

This week will be so interesting.
I'm interested in Taiko's performance.
Judging from COMGnet's preorder, it should be something very big.
A new color....already? Wow.

Already? It took more than GBA and DS.
Yes,DS had its first new color with Kirby's release, then with Nintendogs, and then with Jump Super Stars... I expect another color this Holiday.
Or earlier. Depends on the coming of another Pokemon game to 3DS this year :p

They have 25 studios(or more?), you suggest Nintendo should be able to put out almost 100 first party games every 3 years?

I think Nintendo's first party titles lack diversity, mostly in terms of the age range of their outputs, they need more studios like Monolith and Retro than can put out T+ rated games, or at least some realistic games, that's what is hot on the market and Nintendo lacks that.
