Media Create Sales: Week 33, 2015 (Aug 10 - Aug 16)

Nothing bad for Deep Crimson considering is been a year since its release.

Well considering its inital shipment was around 93k, it's more about bomba bins and clearance than legs, and there are still 15k copies sitting there that no one has bought yet even at low price.
Estival Versus are "legs" though.

118. [3DS] Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson # <ACT> (Marvelous AQL) {2014.08.07} (¥6.998) - 71.038 / 71.038 (46.494 <49,13%>)

for all the splatoon sales celebration every week the game really ain't doing much to the wii u hardware which is kinda sad. ps4 has been selling more at a higher price the majority of the weeks without really any new notable japanese games releasing

Before Splatoon, Wii U is selling like 5k per week on average. Splatoon has kept Wii U from selling below 10k, so it has done its job. For a 3 month old first party game to sell well coinciding a better Wii U sales than before, that's amazing on its own right. PS4 selling just a few thousand above a "dead" console with enough SW library to keep owners busy and to look forward to should be doing much better than this tbh.

most shocking thing to me is seeing that super mario P&D only at a few hundred thousand. I thought that was going to be a massive selling game

How about:
Both the ps4 and Wii U should be doing better than they are.

It's like the two dumbest kids in the class comparing test scores in here.

Pretty much. I just took a gander at Media Create Week 33 - 2009 and pretending that any dedicated gaming platform is "Beasting" in today's market speaks more to lower expectations than current dedicated gaming market performance.

This is why I don't bother with hardware much at all anymore. Now, Splatoon, on the other hand...

The PS3 sold 6k in the chart you quoted... how is the PS4 selling 3x as much not "beasting"?

Beasting probably isn't the best word to describe the PS4 though im sure it's a little tongue in cheek. I do think it's showing some encouraging signs considering how anaemic it's software release schedule has been. I don't see it performing anywhere near as well as the big successes in Japan but maybe it can turn things around a little bit. Have to wait and see when some actual big games release I guess.

Last year Hyrule Warriors released so the fact that there is no major drop in HW Sales is pretty telling. The Splatoon legs are pretty much keeping the Wii U on track with last year. If SMM, FExSMT, Star Fox etc provide any kind of boost a lot of the new Wii U owners will likely be looking into Splatoon as one of the game purchases they make.
The Squids might actually make it to 1mil for 2015 which is going to be insane considering it took MK8 one year to do the same.

Fun week for software. Hardware isn't as great though.

Please Taiko finally had some kind of legs, even if it is just holiday bump. Wonde rhow long it'll stick around, if at all.

Also, Makai Shin Trillion still showing on Famitsu, which is rare for a Compile Heart game to stick around for more than a couple of weeks.

Has Sony ever released statements about jap sales? It's still not great but I don't think they're worried given the upcoming support and ww success.

Why are you comparing the best charting current gen console in [week 33] 2015 to the lowest charting current gen console of [week 33] 2009?

Why are you comparing the best charting current gen console in [week 33] 2015 to the lowest charting current gen console of [week 33] 2009?

Are you implying that the people who bought a Wii in 2009 are the same people who are in the market for a PS4 in 2015?
I'm just going by the upgrade path.

no. I'm comparing market leaders.

Implying Recidivism in any market is foolish at best.

Here's another update for Nirolak's Road to TGS: http://www.capcom.co.jp/tgs/

Capcom has announced their TGS booth plans, and Monster Hunter Stories will be playable for the first time there. MHS will be playable at both the main booth and the Family Corner, something that it shares with Monster Hunter Diary DX and Monster Hunter Spirits. This is a good indication of what to expect from the game's tone - something for younger audiences.

The Battle Cats for 3DS has finally entered Japanese 3DS All-Time Top 10. To give better context to this, Ponos announced the game reached 200,000 downloads on August 6th, around two weeks ago, when it was 13th in the All-Time Chart.

SSB(Wii U) Lifetime Japan Sales - 669.840
Splatoon(Wii U) Lifetime Japan Sales - 596.946

this is why splatoon is esports in the eyes of nintendo and smash is not

they value those japan sales more than anything else. it's why metroid is kill :(

Jeez, with this kind of sales as platoon is having, I wonder if Nintendo never expected it to sell more than 100k.

Also I have a really hard time seeing 3DS reach 20 million at the end of the year. Probably by summer next year before the NX launches.

So you are seriously of the belief that it will take another year for the 3DS to sell another million? Wow

It's hard to tell how much is due to Splatoon, but it was doing like 6k eariler this year...

just compare YoY, it's not like the Wii U was doing 6k at this point in 2014

(although "Splatoon gave no hardware bumps" is a statement that fits in the NPD thread, not here)

Looks like minecraft will hit a million in Japan next week. Probably already happened, but digital numbers aren't up to date

Hm, I just quickly clicked through all the weeks back until June and it was around 2-3k above the last year in every week I believe except for this week (MC). Last year at this point wasn't 6k, but it still seems higher with that metric. It's made up around 20k since Splatoon came out.

Man, these numbers are small though. Almost not worth posting about.

But anyway, it was trending below last year until Splatoon came out and now it's even. So that quantifies as a bump I would say. I'm not sure how much more could be expected, competing against MK. (I expected nothing tbh)
