Why are they selling the dubbed/subbed version of COD separately? Pretty sure there is enough room on a PS3 disk to have both and they could have a language pack disc install on 360. Seems backward when games in North America end Europe have many different languages in the same release.

So I thought I would put this here since it's relevant to Square Enix's overall output.

They seem to be releasing about as much content as Guild Wars 2 is (GW2 just breaks it up into 2 week chunks), which implies they probably still have 200-300+ people on the game, especially given they're intending to release expansion packs.

Every 3 months isn't that kinda slow, I've played f2p games that have released raids and major patches etc every 3 weeks.

Having to support an MMO this days requires a lot of resources, it was obvious a lot of people would stay in FF XIV developments.

Retailers first impressions:

Tadapon:

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - 70% sellthrough (Sales were Persona 4: The Arena x3 in this chain of stores)
Ragnarok Odyssey Ace - less than 50% sellthrough
Lost Planet 3 - Fail

Azalyn:

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - 70 copies sold (far more than One Piece: Pirates Warriors 2).
Lost Planet 3 - 15 copies (less than the last entry)
Ragnarok Odyssey Ace - 8 copies (calm compared to last entry)

GamesMaya:

1. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (big hit)
2. Ragnarok Odyssey Ace (bought by same people who bought the last entry)
2. Lost Planet 3 (slow start)

On one hand, I'm extremely happy that JoJo seems to be doing well.

On the other hand, I might have completely underestimated it in my predictions.

I'm accounting for amount of content in the patch unless he's overselling it in that blurb.

It would be a PvP system that didn't exist, a housing system, multiple raids/dungeons, more main story content, and more,

You predicted less than 400k :p ?
It doesn't seem to say that the game is OOS so its launch week should be around 300-400k, it's not the kind of games with strong legs and with the bad reviews it's getting I don't think it'll show any at all.

Bad reviews? Where?

~460k until the end of September, which seems rather low in hindsight.

And I think the only Japanese review I've seen (Famitsu) was a perfect score. Not that it says much about the game but marketing must be through the roof.

There's a very real chance that Nintendo may be cancelling Bayonetta 2 if TW101's sales are this bad worldwide.

I guarantee you Platinum is wishing they hadn't made deals with Nintendo, and Microsoft now. While they'd still get paid the same if the game sold 10 copies, or 10 million, these massive flops are only going to hurt whatever little pull they have with other publishers.

IMO, Platinum should've had Bayonetta 2 announced for 360 & PS3 instead of for Wii U.

I have a feeling that it's going to have a huge bomb in sales just like with The Wonderful 101.

The game was for 360/PS3.

Then Sega canceled it and sold the assets to Nintendo.

EditL lol at the 101 predictions. I lowballed as much as i thought reasonable with the 2nd lowest predictions and still got burned.

I meant to ask. It seems like a lot of PSP games were ports of hentai stuff with the actual hentai removed. When did that trend start? I think Grisaia's the same thing - it came out a few weeks ago for the Vita.

Early 2000s or late 90s I'm pretty sure. Maybe Kanon was the starting point?

Not even close. There are lots of worse bomba SRW titles in the past too.

The actual mistake would be assuming that Masou Kishin is a major part of the SRW series or even the OG series. OG titles sell fine btw. Masou Kishin is a specific sub-series in the OG storyline which revolves around Cybuster and the Lord of Elemental world. It's not even developed by the same people who make the normal SRW games because there was this stupid IP tussle over the rights stemming from the original development of Lord of Elemental for the SFC. Eventually the legal issue was resolved, and Bandai Namco Games is working with the developer again to resume the series. The first two games sold about 100k each, so while this is a dip (50k+ opening instead of a 80k+ opening), it's nothing shocking. The series just isn't super popular and it has been on a different platform with each release. Lol.
Also:
DS: 6090 yen
PSP: 6280 yen
Vita: 6480 yen
PS3: 7480 yen
SNES: 8190 yen

First multiplatform PS3/PSV game that will sell better on the Vita.
Second:

PSV XBLAZE Code: Embryo Arc System Works 2013-07-25 5,719
PS3 XBLAZE Code: Embryo Arc System Works 2013-07-25 5,148

Although, that's barely and just the first week (PS3 may be ahead now).

Edit: too slow........

Sorry, I was a little unclear. By "when" I mean "was that as common on systems before the PSP"?

Ah, then yeah. Mostly Key works since they were huge, but there were a few others. FSN's PS2 version would have been concurrent with the PSP but before many VNs started getting ported to the PSP.

I knew some game would prove me wrong.

Maybe Dengeki has second week sales? Though I imagine it probably did fall off the top 50.

EDIT: Shinra got banned? Why?

Half of Gaming side (exaggerated lol) would be banned if that were the reason. :p

True heh

nsfw stuff? hope it wasn't perma ban

Do you guys think Nintendo will bring the 2DS to Japan?

EDIT: Excuse me, I meant 2Dees.

Unless the profit margin is way better than the current models (highly unlikely) then no they won't bring it out there imo. The LL is the better selling model and is more expensive, price is no issue for the three dees in Japan.

I guess that's true, but with that in mind...

do we know whether the XL outsells the OG 3Dees in NA? What about Europe? Guess I should ask in the NPD thread.

Congratulation to the winners!

The Wonderful 101 really screwed up our predictions, the results by percentage are horribly bad. It wasn't easy to predict that this game would turn into such a nuclear bomb. Just 2.000 more units than MadWorld (a black-and-white action game with zero appeal for mainstream audiences and distributed by a very small publisher), it looks so surreal.

By the way, according to Sinobi's blog, Monster Hunter 4 initial shipment was once again increased (this is the 4th time) and is well over the million mark. Now they are expecting a first shipment of around 1.5 million units.

I guess that's true, but with that in mind...

do we know whether the XL outsells the OG 3Dees in NA? What about Europe? Guess I should ask in the NPD thread.

Not sure about that either, theres also that maybe the big square shape is less portable than a folded one? I dunno might be something to make it less appealing (other than it being ugly as sin)

The 2DS is meant for 5-7 year olds and extreme budget consumers.

This is more of a target to sell the system to people who are still buying the DS instead in the West or making it less costly for parents for their young children.

I'm not sure if that market has been as hard to reach in Japan.
