Level-5 has delayed Yo-Kai Watch for mobile into 2017 (presumably to get out of the way of Yo-Kai Watch 3's third version), but has announced that the game is getting extensive mechanical upgrades and quality improvements beyond what has been announced thus far:

Gematsu said:
Yo-kai Watch for Smartphones, an iOS and Android port of the original Yo-kai Watch that launched for 3DS in 2013, has been delayed from its previously announced fall 2016 release window in Japan to 2017, Level-5 announced.

In addition to the previously announced new features—an easier to play screen setup, high resolution graphics, original new features, and online battle support—Level-5 teased today that it’s planning to greatly enhance the quality of the game with major improvements like new mechanics and such. Further detail was not announced.

Alright, that does make sense. At least they have a good excuse this time around.

Doomed then.

But seriously, it's the other way around man, and even then it'll never go beyond being a niche product.
For Japan, Sony has to hope for PSVR's software attachment ratio to be great enough to justify its space on store shelves in the eyes of retailers.
If they can stock XB1, they can stock PSVR.

I think it is fine if it remains a niche product. It was never going to blow up in Japan. Whatever they can sell there is just extra on top of what really matters in more important regions like US.

I'm convinced there's a small team at Artdink working on barely any budget that just churn out these kinds of low-content action games based on anime every year. Madoka Magicka -> World Trigger -> Macross Delta etc. Probably turn a small bit of profit for Bamco.

Then the bigger team handle things like DBZ; SAO etc. and get the lion's share of the budget.

That's a pretty large discrepancy between the two trackers, 11k is no small difference, 3DS and PS4 are also much closer on it.

Also, those Reco Love sales are abysmal:

Not surprising considering how they handled it.
I don't think splitting it into two versions was a smart decision. For a mainstream game that sort of thing might work, but when your fanbase is almost entirely hardcore otaku they are not going to be pleased by that sort of tactic.
Reading reviews too it sounds like even if you buy both versions you still have less content than what was in the single version of the last game.

Doomed then.

Eh, PSVR is only available at select stores in Japan to begin with. For example in my prefecture, only 4 stores aside from the Sony store carry it. And they've all been sold out since launch.
Even before retailers, Sony themselves seem to consider it a niche product.

From what I've read on Twitter some shops in Japan are receiving PSVR restock only on 10/29.

That leaves nothing for this week

When does Pokemon launch? Could still work out depending on it's reception...

Numbers for Pokémon, one month from now. Sun and Moon, surely will help. There are bundles, almost with every kind of 3DS models. Holidays will be the key, though. We can't assure anything until week 52, imho.

This week's sales confirm that there won't be miracles for Monster Hunter Stories, even less considering that the anime is currently being aired. In the end it doesn't look like it will have been a worthwhile project for Capcom despite not being a flop.

US will save it. Right along with Joker 3

No time to post them all as I wanna play River City Ransom but notable Famitsu digital estimates for 29 August - 25 September are:-

Persona 5 (PS4) 41,604
Battlefield 4 (PS4) 19,032
Biohazard 4 (PS4) 17,164
Pocket Monsters R/G/B/Y (3DS) 16,625
Sabaku no Nezumi Dan! (3DS) 16,425

Well Sony probably didn't want a situation where they would have warehouses full of expensive $399 accessory if VR had flopped so they opted for conservative approach. Seiing the stock situation around the world it seems they went wit too conservative approach though lol.

Famitsu retail plus digital

[PS4] Persona 5: 393.014
[PS3] Persona 5: 111.140

[All] Persona 5: 504.154

Persona 5 is now PS4's third best selling game.

Also:

[PS4] Battlefield 4: 312.681

Its now the best selling game in the series in Japan, though more than half of those copies were sold at 500 yen.

The new game was #1 at the PS Store this week, will post rankings when I get home, good user reviews too.

Finally, Nintendo says they've shipped 490k units of Kirby by the end of September, so 40k or so digital copies. Also total shipments of Pokemon ORAS in Japan now at 3.340.000 units.

Mario Run will give them the zenkai boost they need.

I actually didn't think about that, and while Mario Run's long term goal is exactly that, could we see some old Mario games (like NSMB) come back in the chart in december/january? A bit like the Pokemon Go effect?

Two posts for the sake of mpl's archive.

This week's sales confirm that there won't be miracles for Monster Hunter Stories, even less considering that the anime is currently being aired. In the end it doesn't look like it will have been a worthwhile project for Capcom despite not being a flop.
Yes I'm losing faith too, it won't hit 1 million copies or become a massive success like Yo-kai Watch, but I think there's still time, maybe it can hit 500k in the long run.

Let's see how it does next week, post Direct and holiday drop.

No time to post them all as I wanna play River City Ransom but notable Famitsu digital estimates for 29 August - 25 September are:-

Persona 5 (PS4) 41,604
Battlefield 4 (PS4) 19,032
Biohazard 4 (PS4) 17,164
Pocket Monsters R/G/B/Y (3DS) 16,625
Sabaku no Nezumi Dan! (3DS) 16,425

Yeahhh the duo mouse is doing damn close there.^_^

Sega also has a new mobile game coming out called Soul Reverse Zero: http://zero.soulreverse.jp/

It doesn't look too out of the ordinary, but what sticks out is that it is directed and produced by Sega AM2: http://www.famitsu.com/news/201610/21118172.html

Judging by our thread on the title, they're hoping to go worldwide with it as well.

Sega's venture to mobile is easily on of their most successful venture in all these recent years.

Chain Chronicle had finally reach a new book saga and now getting a new anime with great budget too.
Hortensia Saga is another big hit by Sega where it had dedicated fans which support the title loyally thanks to a great Guild vs Guild system.
Monster Gear, a game which takes lots of art and design cue from Capcom's popular Monster Hunter and this one actually did much better vs Monster Hunter on Mobile which is shocking.
Ange Vierge, another stable performing title which had launch far before Hor Saga but still stay strong till now. Example showing that mobile title does not mean it will die quickly.
Liberation of Azure and World Chain is also their recently launch high budget for mobile title and seems to be doing moderately well.

As long as this new title does not Chaos Dragon'ed themselves, i can see it doing great for Sega there.

Hell, i would even argue Sega mobile effort had long eclipse their dedicated hardware effort both on quality and revenue they bring.^^

I think it was the right project but came too damn late in the 3DS' life cycle. Not sure if it will end up being worthwhile or not, but whatever it ends up selling, I think it would have been a lot more pre-2016 and post-2011.

Nintendo says that Miitopia is indeed releasing this year, we have yet to see anything about the game.

They especifically say this year, no winter or holidays or anything. Information will be released sometime later.

Ahh, I see. But does the older one also add digital? Or not there?

No? But even if they did, the digital ratio would have been tiny back then.

PS4's base is around 20k, so i expect it to stabilize around there

That would mean that the price drop did basically nothing, it was 20k before the recent drop (well, it was dropping little by little, but it was hovering around 20k).

Nintendo released the Financial Results Briefing. This year they changed the format and I can't copy paste the photos.
Anyway, Miitopia is still announced as a 2016 big holiday title in Japan lol

In Japan, we are releasing Miitopia and Momotaro Dentetsu 2017 Tachiagare Nippon!! as major titles for the year-end holiday season.
Miitopia, for which we have only announced the title, will be released by the end of this year, and we will provide more information about this exciting title at a later date.
We also had a great response to the announcement of Momotaro Dentetsu 2017 Tachiagare Nippon!! in our Nintendo Direct last month, and this title will be out on December 22.
