The main reason is that it would be iOS, and for iOS they decided that a quick remaster would be cheaper and have the same effect.
They could make a real remake for 3DS, and release it later for iOS (like Dragon Quest and Threayhtum).

But yeah, why spend a lot of money with real remakes, when you can sell cheap ports and remasters?

It is exotic now when 2/3 of the hardware makers have gone over to x86 hardware. Nintendo would be literally dumb if they tried to go with the PPC hardware route for their handheld when they can get out much more with a ARM CPU
sörine;142983580 said:
There's almost zero chance Nintendo dumps ARM for PCC in their next handheld. What's actually likely is them dumping PPC for ARM in their next console.
Yes, that was the conclusion already. :p As I said, my only point of uncertainty is in how well ARM scales to console level but I'm sure a custom unit can be made to scale as well as Nintendo needs it to scale. (Also it will be a lot cheaper for them than the extortion level prices they'd have to pay IBM for PPC.)

Obviously I predict 8K/240FPS.

From a business perspective, 3DS remakes might be reasonable. They would sell 500-600.000 units (if not more) with some potential overseas, given the IP, and a later opportunity on mobile. But as duckroll said a while ago, perhaps there is not intention within SQEX to pursue those projects that would require artistic direction and a more complex management that just ROM dumping.

Profit wise, they made a smart move. I really doubt the Wii U sales would have vastly increased even if it came out first. The mere fact that the 3DS version was announced would have cannibalized sales, along with the fact that the Wii U is a flop.

Also, the 4DS isn't dropping next year
No, it wasn't smart hardware sales-wise, the decision had a negative impact on Wii U version and wasted potential hardware sales, something they are hunger in need for. Smash Wii U was the biggest prospect for hardware bump on it after Mario Kart 8. 3DS version arriving first took away many potential sales and interest from the Wii U version. Who bought the 3DS version wouldn't have the need to buy it again on Wii U, as it was one of the most expected Nintendo releases this year. Also, if it came out first on Wii U, many 3DS version buyers would have bought on Wii U instead. They have an option to buy a version already avaliable on the market now, why would they wait more time for a later version if they can buy it now? The same logic works otherwise if it came out for Wii U first.

Anyway, there were strong prospects for 3DS already: Youkai Watch 2, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire could have handled 3DS nicely, so it wasn't really in the hands of Smash 3DS the sole responsability to carry on it.

Nintendo has already announced they have plans to keep it alive for some years from now, as Reggie have already stated, so your "Wii U is a flop" isn't a really valid reason to dismiss any importance for a Wii U version.

The result will likely have the 3DS version at 2.5m and the Wii U version at 700k units, meaning more than 3m for a SSB entry; i.e. the best result ever for the franchise.
Wii U version arriving first would probably had lower difference between both versions despite the bigger 3DS userbase.

This is highly arguable.
Care to elaborate why do you believe if Smash Wii U came out first than 3DS version it wouldn't fare better both software and hardware-wise?

Lol Nintendo gets money for both of them, how is that a bad move? they make more money by having it on 3DS which is a much bigger market in Japan, as far as money goes they made a good move.
Because as a hardware maker, is more import for you to wisely choose the right prospects at their maximum potential for a higher software and hardware performance than just see it based only on profit-centric glasses.

Atlus sure fell in love with DLC since SMTIV. Before that they didn't show any interest in paid DLC at all. Even the bonus quest stuff for Persona 2 was all free. But since then we've had...

SMTIV: 3650yen worth of DLC
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax: 13800yen worth of game DLC (Whenever available I counted the cheaper complete packages rather than the piecemeal ones)
Persona Q: 3400yen worth of DLC
EO Untold 2: 2950yen worth of DLC announced so far

Can't wait to see what the DLC for Etrian Mystery Dungeon and Persona 5 are like. I bet Dancing All Night will have over 50 bucks worth of DLC at least, if not over 100 bucks, considering what it is.

Sakurai explained that Smash 3DS released when it did because they had to put into a window where they could manufacture enough carts and it was sandwiched between other million sellers.

D3 cut off EDF2 V2's selling potential (not that it had much) by talking about EDF 4.1 so much. There's actually more trailers for the latter despite it coming out next year.

Publishers do that quite a bit weirdly. Samurai Warriors being a recent example but the stand out for me is Resident Evil 6. They announced it right before Revelations came out and in the UK they were advertising it when Revelations was released(with no ads for Revelations).

Rhythm Game Songs: $2.99/€2.49/£1.99 each

Song Club Season Pass: ($29.99) – Will give you access to the entire lineup of post-launch Rhythm Game Songs.

Atlus as well, announcing both Etrian Myster Dungeon and Etrian Odyssey V on the same day.

Bored parents buying a copy for their kids?
That thing is going to be sold out until New Year's shipment Penny! They are buying it now for Christmas presents, or-else coming that very day, their parents will have to give them Pokemon, and the kids shall weep.

What do you think everyone is queuing for?;)

FF explorers is probably Rabbids Land. Probably should have just made a new Crystal Chronicles.

People should be lining for Youkai, Pokemon is doomed. It's my chance to get in there!! :D
Do children not go to the Pokemon centers?

I wonder what Level 5 are spending all their YW money on nowadays? :p

Huh? I have no idea what you're on about. NoA is an empty shell of its former self. They, along with NoE should be given more responsibilities. They need to be a big part of it all.
you want NoA to be independent instead of a marketing arm.

Im saying that' has consequences

I think they're mostly more like the other SMT IV DLCs - cheap boss fights, short bonus quests, cosmetic stuff, voice packs, etc. You can pay to instantly unlock stuff in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax though, but I didn't count those DLCs.

I don't think there's much to lose here. The 360/PS3 are dying off pretty fast in the West, and they had some good success getting in on the PS3 early and then expanding multiplatform once the Ubisoft deal was up.
This isnt quite true Nirolak.

For the hardcore games sure, but the install base/games with legs they sell a lot still on the PS3 and the 360

I guess my view would be that the Naruto game buying audience pretty heavily falls in the category that would have moved by the time the game comes out and they would gain more by being shiny than they'd lose by missing out on people who haven't moved yet.

I realize the brand was quite popular among young boys in 2007, but they're now 7-8 years older, and I'm not sure if they kept picking up large amounts of younger people who wouldn't have switched over yet.

I don't think you can actually get a PPC architecture into a power envelope that would be suitable for a handheld.

Like you'd need something at least as big as a laptop battery for that.

I guess if they make their next handheld the size of the Wii U gamepad that's feasible, but it would be kind of impractical.

I personally take "incorporation the Wii U architecture" less literally, and rather they mean that whatever new chipset they choose will have all the hardware features they need to port their internal technology onto the system.

Like, if it's an OpenGL ES 3.0 compliant device, they could take what they've done for the Wii U and port it over instead of having to start from scratch, even if it uses an ARM core and an NVIDIA/AMD/Qualcomm/PowerVR/etc GPU.
Theoretically you could put PPC in a handheld by 2016/2017 but since intel is the only one really providing that hardware it'd be expensive wouldnt it?\

Or FFTA3.

I don't think FF Ex will do that horribly though.
How many times was it download ( its demo)

Xrd skews to an older audience ( teenagers/ adults) who can freely go to arcades and the console version has on disc dlc according to those who have cracked copies of the game already

Ultimately, what are we to interpret about Xrd's sales? I honestly don't know how the "lol one anime game at a time in the FGC" mentality works, if it does at all, over in Japan.

Persona 4 Arena DLC predated Shin Megami Tensei IV.

The same applies for Persona 4 Arena and BlazBlue, of course both of those are more popular at arcades and on PS3.
