That's not entirely true; there is generally less hormones used and things like that.
There laws allow for fresher / less modified cheese as well. And since pizza is made with fresh mozz I imagine it's difficult to replicate exactly in most of the US.
There are probably local chains in the US that match the general quality of Italy but they'd be rare.
