Megaman Legends 3 axed; Capcom blames fans/goes insane, [Fans Start Support Group]

What made like Namco a bit more is basically... They're intending to release the Tales games in English even if it takes quite some time.
I also think if you ignore the Eidos output (strictly going by Japanese developed games/IP) then yeah, it knocks Square Enix to roughly the same level as Namco. Including Eidos stuff then Tomb Raider and especially Deus Ex both seem very promising, and stuff like Just Cause 2 was a pleasant surprise. As frustrating as Namco's localization track record is they are, at least in the short term, reversing that somewhat for Tales (probably on account of the number of titles suddenly becoming REASONABLE to tackle) and are getting Dark Souls out here, not to mention they're more frequently licensing stuff they won't bother with and have no serious investment in like Solatorobo, even though that probably would've been in the same situation anyway had they not merged with Bandai.

This is unconfirmed but apparently security is removing anyone who mentions Megaman at the Capcom booth.

I've read enough history books to know that the gulags come after the secret police.

Don't think it's a good idea to spread this kind of rumour. Throwing more gasoline into the fire might make things worse for both sides.

I think it's refreshing. Surely I'm not the only one who doesn't really care for reading canned PR, and enjoys deviation from it?

In a morbid way. But it's not like what they're saying is substantially different from regular PR message except in tone- shifting blame, contradicting themselves, giving false hope... it's all there.

From a PR perspective he absolutely needs to go- if for nothing else then for his poor communication skills (see the "thanks" tweets among others where his responses don't make sense). He's being just as equivocating as any other PR person, trying to backtrack and make his words have opposite meanings, except he's just bad at it.

Heck, even their first statement that they're trying to retcon, the one blaming the fans and the devroom, doesn't make sense and likely isn't the real reason for MML 3's cancellation. I don't think they're some maverick telling it like it is, I think they're just incredibly incompetent.

Getting high security to throw Mega Man fans out is surely a good way to treat this situation. I mean, not only do their dreams get killed, but now the company responsible is defiling that grave in every way possible.

EDIT: If it's true, that is.

SwiftSketcher, never trust 4chan. Thought that was one of the golden rules of the internet.
Yeah, I mean it seems wildly untrue at the moment and would escalate the situation from hilariously bad to actually serious. But then again, I wouldn't have believed you if you had told me it would get this ridiculous in the past 24 hours.

Sega & Namco being the top two on that list depresses me.

Although Sega is just a shadow of its former self, I'm just glad they put out great games like Bayonetta and Resonance of Fate... And I'm even happy with their digital output for their classic games (Monster World 4 in English and with trophies!).

Namco... Can depend on anyone though. I love PacMan CE DX, their intent on Tales localization, and for putting out a Katamari (even if its not Takahashi related) game this generation.

Square Enix kinda ties with Namco. I'm glad that they're finally putting up the PSone classics on PSN, Tactics Ogre revival, and for the god awesome looking Versus XIII even if it takes half a decade to release.

My sister who is at Comic-con actually heard this story as well from someone there :/

Saw it being talked about in the capcom-unity.com comic-con chat, but I'm not sure if their source was 4chan or elsewhere. There were yelling at the two capcom hosts on there to answer about it.

Mega Fans potentially starting shit or being accussed of starting shit at SDCC is the greatest thing ever, regardless of whether it's true or not

Two things - one. HOLY SHIT CAPCOM EUROPE. Two - I really doubt they're throwing out MM fans. That's just... retarded.
That's why I sort of believe it. Par for the course with Capcom lately.

Fritz said:
Is that even possible? Original MM was a work made for hire I guess. Who owns the rights?

These are the same idiots that seem to have problems with the rights to Rival Schools characters so god knows.

not that they'll have lost the rights otherwise we'd see all kinds of shit disappearing from DD services, or any MM references in UMvC3 like SonicMegaDrive said

I'd heard something weird was going on with CapcomEuro's Twitter, but reading through the past few pages was amazing. Just... amazing. It reminded me of Konami's 2010 E3 conference.

Re: The Comic-Con stuff: This probably makes me a bad person, but I want this to be true so bad, because that's the kind of thing that'll hit the big news sites and really let people know about the situation.

Yeah it is par for their current course. I don't want it to be true though. I just hope fans don't do something crazy in response to all this.

"Capcom loses rights to Capcom-created franchise" doesn't exactly sound right, guys.

I wonder if Capcom USA can take control of it like they did with Street Fighter, though? Maybe that will get something made.

Oh, I REALLY hope they do. Capcom deserves the total shit storm they would bring.

If the twitter guy's intention wasn't to blame fans, the tweet wouldn't have been worded as fans don't "want to" get involved, not to mention the whole bunch of tweets about dev room and asking if people were participating when attacking him.

It's not until later he's going "oh it's really our fault, that's what I was really trying to say!".

But whatever.

Oh, after DmC, RE: Mercenaries, DLC practices and MML 3 they absolutely deserve it as a company. But I'm worried that:

1. The wrong targets will be picked. People with no say in what CapEuro says, or the MML 3 cancellation might get yelled at or threatened

2. People can go overboard. Boycotts, passionate messages and targeted campaigns are great but then you get people making death threats. And then, inevitably, people who genuinely care but aren't psycho get painted with the same brush and the whole thing gets shoved under the rug.

I want people to make their voices known, and a little theatrics aren't unwelcome, but I just hope it doesn't go so overboard it does more harm than good.

Capcom can't lose the license to an IP they own... Just look over the copyright information on a Megaman game's box, and you'll only see Capcom. So unless they sold the series to Inafune in private, or he owned a good piece of the IP, they still have the franchise.

Why didn't Konami bring over Drum and Guitar Freaks anyway? Songs made for a rhythm game >>>>>>>>>> lol licensed songs

Same reason SCEJ doesn't bring Singstar to Japan - they don't think there is a market. Then they see someone else succeed with the exact same idea... whoops.

Mega Man Universe aside, a few days ago I wouldn't have believed any of this were happening. What happened at Capcom? Did Kotick buy out the company and start killing off more franchises or something?

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom lost the rights to the franchise, but if so, how and why? Did Inafune take it with him or something, and why aren't they being more audible about it if it's true?
