and an incredible comic series from IDW -
so while I'm holding out some sliver of hope that this might find a way to accidentally be good, if it does manage to predictable crap the bed, I won't be devastated. I've got other places to get my Turtles fix.

That's what makes the inevitable lack of quality of this movie so bad though. The franchise is firing on all cylinders in every other medium so a poor film is going to stand out even more.
All roles that Fox will not be convincing in.

Heh, probably. I don't mind if she is not a reporter, but one characteristic that has never changed (as far as I know) is that she is smart. Fox cannot do smart.

Shaya Laboof plays the awkward teenager who runs into the turtles and tries to hide them from April until she snoops around and finds out. Complete with a cute little scene where she is talking with Laboof and he is frantically trying to block her view of the turtles hiding in his apartment behind the TV and plants and shit as April could have sworn she just saw something move behind the couch. There will be short plucky strings playing in the soundtrack during this scene to show how playful, light hearted yet elusive the turtles are.
She eventually finds out and instead of reporting on them she becomes their friend. Later scenes involve April "I'm going with you!" Laboof "No" then she convinces him or just comes along anyway while shoving something in his chest as she walks by. Cute plucky strings play.
Later the dumb bitch gets captured just like Laboof warned her would happen. The movie is coming to a close and the turtles have been on screen for a total of 15 minutes. Bebop and Rocksteady are a hippopotamus and the dude from Yo Gaba Gaba.
They don't even fight Shredder at the end.
Explosions.

It's a live action movie about TMNT. It doesn't matter who they cast, who the director is, it will be a mess. I don't know what people expect out of a live action version considering the source of material. You could spend $200M on it, get the greatest cast and writers involved, but at the end of the day it's still a movie about anamorphic ninja turtles fighting other ninjas.

I love fantasy and comic movies, I just think that there isn't much you can do with the source material. I love, love, love thundercats but they wouldn't make a good live action film.

She at least looks the part. And she probably has more personality and acting ability. And she'd be cheaper. Win-win-win.
Casting couch isn't just for women in hollywood. Clint Eastwood, Brad Pitt, Richard Gere, and Tom Cruise are a few example of guys that are members of it too.
Except the source material is on par if not better than most comic books.
