I remember reading the preview for it in a gaming magazine when I was young. I thought it was going to be one of the most amazing games ever. Played it about five years ago for the first time. It definitely lived up to the hype.
i play MGS 2 without reading any preview or a review of nobody.... and is one of the best games that i play in my life

not my favorite, that goes to MGS1 or MGS3, but i can’t deny that it’s still a very fun game and the themes of the final monologues have becomingly eerily more and more relevant as time goes on

Why did Big Boss killed your interest? He is Snake i mean Snake is Him they clone him so Solid Snake is basically him so why did Big Boss killed your interest their the same person him and Snake lol
Technically he isn't. He is a completely seperate being. SS and BB can go their separate ways and be individuals, or be in the the same room trying to kill eachother.

I just enjoyed Solids personality, character, arc much more. He excudes this cool, sharp, badass.
I played through 3, and BB seemed so ordinary. I didn't care for the time period either.
Not sure if that makes sense. BB feels like a grandpa in comparison.

I have made similar comments in other threads regarding MGS. I just didn't like the direction it went after 2.
Jungle, desert, old tech. Nope.
Give me near futuristic, clean, tactical espionage any day.
After 2, Splinter Cell became my favorite Stealth action series.

I cross my fingers for a MGS 2 remake in my lifetime.

The only thing I really dislike about MGS3 is the dpad sneaking, that drove me nuts, after MGS2's running everywhere and they don't hear you (unless its the "loud metal floor").

Did I miss something about there? Crawling is obviously an option but I'm sure it was still too slow to stalk someone and choke them out. I just wanted to choke everyone out I think.

I remember enjoying this game to bits in middle school. Then in college I loved analyzing the political aspect and the story. As an older gamer now and looking back I still think MGS3 is just a better game. It was actually just more fun to play or watch to me and what I look back on more fondly.

The storytelling is a mess. The last 2 hours is just plottwist after plottwist after plottwist. The new villains all sucked ass too. Gameplay was solid, though, but Big Shell was boring and the escort mission with Otacon's sister is one of the worst moments ever in history of gaming. Good game? Yes. Masterpiece? No way.

Personally, 3 is where it's at for me. I bought it again on 3DS. That good.

2 I really liked. I don't think it's a masterpiece but it had a lot going for it. After all, it's a Video Kojima game. You can always count on those on doing something really, really well.

The story is surprising and amazing enough as it is. But when I played MGS2 I had never been exposed to any conspiracy theories in the real world, prior to playing the game.

So the story had a special impact on me, and I'm so fond of this game because of it. Beside the fact that it's a great game with awesome gameplay, great pacing, etc.. It's a masterpiece, I completely agree.

The hype for this game was unreal. The reveal trailer at E3 is one of the biggest megatons in gaming, but the game itself is a disappointment. The tanker was awesome. Big shell is boring and short. Raiden is a whiny baby (redeemed only by MGS4/MGR). Fortune and Fatman? meh. Vamp? More bark then bite. Solidus? Never liked him. Revolver Ocelot? He was all set to steal the show, then they had to throw in the Liquid Arm possession which was the dumbest thing ever, and was then sort of retconned by MGS4. As for the patriots? Probably best that they were left unexplained. Way better than 'The Boss's Will'. Give me a break.
Plot is interesting but doesn't have the simple but high stakes feel of MGS (or the MG1 and 2 but I hadn't played them at the time)
Gameplay was excellent and the vr missions in substance make up for the lack of it in the main game.

MGS 3 is my favourite. Followed by MGS1. Then MGS: Peacewalker/MGSV: GZ/ MGSV:TPP on an equal footing.

I'm like you except with the Metal Gear Solid franchise :goog_halo:

Do you have this?! I really want it.

Also I just discovered this exists right now and I want it too:

I'd love a remake that includes the big shell from snakes point of view. It's not fair he got to go into those other struts to defuse the bomb! I want to as well!

MGS2's plot foresaw the current situation about the global threat of fake news and the "rumor" in history and media caused by social networks.

One of the BEST videogames of all time. Sony, but the IP and get Bluepoint to do a full blown remake. Then, have Kojima-San make MGS6

Did any other game have the amount of detail that MGS2 had at that time? The way ice cubes melted over time or how you could interact with so many objects that would wouldn't normally dream of thinking to interact with was just one of the reasons people put so much time into the MGS2 demo.

Can't argue with that. Playing the older Metal Gear Solid games is probably some of the most fun I've had in gaming. I didn't really like Phantom Pain as much but it was decent.

That is true because it has all the games until that point. Xbox 360 versions of MGS2 and 3 run a bit better though. They have more stable 60fps and they also work on Xbox One.

I know but a new remaster would be better. Those are only 720p.
The HDC runs at 720p on PS3 (and probably Xbox 360 as well) and 1080p on Xbox One/Series. The Series S/X might be able to upscale it even further.
i was told this by 2 speedrunner of the hdc. It might be in the Digital Foundry video too, but I believe it's correct that the res on last gen xbox displayed the hdc at 1080.

edit: check to see if you can find any sources or confirmation on your end.
