Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 & God of War PSP Bundles Announced

It's nice to know the DS3 is finally coming. Buying a PS3 now means I'm essentially forced to buy a Sixaxis as well (since it's included). As minor as it may seem, that's actually been one of the things holding me back from buying a PS3.
 
Sony is packing in an "M" rated game? I thought that wasn't allowed. Well, I am assuming the game is "M" rated. Anyway, awesome looking box and a good deal.
 
Good move by Sony. They got everyone to buy up the 80GB stock fearing it was going to disappear completely. Now, they're packing an awesome game inside. Double bump!

Hmm. Well it's not like they are Forcing a Mature game, you can still get the 40g. But that does kinda suck for parents who want BC.
 
Sorry if this was asked already, but is there anything special about the PS3 in that bundle? Or is it just a regular 80g PS3 with the free game?

does anyone know when and how this guaranteed access to the beta is going to go down? Or have the details not been released yet?

For $500? It'll move a decent amount of units but it won't be as popular as some of the more hyperbole-laden comments appearing in this thread seem to imply.

It's just the previous 80gb bundle with a better, in most people's opinion, game in lieu of Motorstorm. People should temper their claims of "ZOMG MGS4 10 millionz am confirmed". I would wager that $500 for a console, one controller and a game is still a nonstarter of a price for most consumers.

at the very least all mgs fans will have no excuse to not buy a ps3, they got amazing value with the bundle.

and who knows, with old snake and old eva in the game, we may get new audience with the elderly.:D
 
I didn't even know there was a Sony show today. All this news has come so out of the blue!

For the first time since buying my PS3 in Dec 2006 (for Ridge Racer 7), I am genuinely excited about the platform!

Yeah it's pretty sad and i'm such a huge fan. Big reason why I went with the ps3 over 360(cant afford both). Buy the same game twice even if it only adds a better camera or over the top cutscenes. It's just hard to follow all the news with MGS4 but I guess that's good for me and i'll be even more surprised when I find out while playing it.

Ceramic White 40GB will probably be $399 just like the Clear Black 40GB.

Don't hold your breath. Why would Sony drop the price of a console that is selling well and already considered an excellent value. And with a great lineup of software scheduled for this year, I'd be shocked if the price dropped from what it is now in during this calendar year.

PS3 has huge momentum, that's not the time to slash your rpices.

Not if the 80gb is $499. I did hear that the white ps3 will come w/ ds3 controller and a >than 80gb hd... so confusing...
 
That slim PSP is hot awesome. I might have to pick up a slim now. The only thing that gets me is the voucher for a downloadable game and no memory card:lol I know I can get them cheap now, but still a bit off.
 
I've still not heard anything about whether or not this will use the new cell motherboard like the one in the 40gb. I want to find out before I plunk down the money as the decreased heat, power consumption, and the improved Bluetooth and wireless are important to me. I guess I am going to wait till I hear for sure what the deal is before I pre-order the bundle (if that is even possible).

I know GameStop/EB aren't doing preorders on this as of now. The email we got today said they didn't know yet if preordering would be needed.
