That scene drained me emotionally and physically. It also left me scarred.I wonder if this torture scene will be as offensive as the "rape scene" in Lords of Shadow 2?
/s
Although, I do remember be fairly alarmed when I was young playing the torture scene in Metal Gear Solid for Playstation. This one.
Push it to the limit
Walk along the razor's edge
but don't look down, just keep your head
Or you'll be finished!
B&B felt like a troll about super melodramatic villain backstories, even Snake himself starts getting annoyed by the stories
Gonna be hard for Kojima to beat South Park when it comes to farting or shitting your pants.
c'mon - everything annoyed old snake!...
The MGS V hyperbole being thrown around by Kojima has made me so bummed out. Not looking forward to this game at all anymore.
but this scene won't be in GZ.
I don't get it. What "limit" did Breaking Bad push? The limit of mediocre TV writing, maybe?* Sure. But I doubt that this is what he's talking about. Breaking Bad isn't renowned for pushing limits of edginess, FFS. Whatchoo talkin' about, Kojima?“Look at something like Breaking Bad,” he said. “I see these guys are trying to go to the limit, trying to take it as far as they can, trying to get their message across.”
Eh it could be, the cages they were in looked awfully similar to the one Chico is in. The only nono is he has the prosthetic arm and shit in his head, but those injuries could happen before GZ ends.

Melting a human being in a bath tub - 2008
Blowing up a nursing home - 2011
Remember this isn't HBO its cable T.V. so the ceiling is lower.
This-It's good to see him standing by his decisions and not caving in to those offended, but on the flipside, Cannibal Holocaust pushed the limits yet I wouldn't really say that it was something that pushed film as an artistic medium. Hopefully he straddles that line nicely.
As long as it serves a purpose....
It's ok, just take a look at this and you will be back in (new gameplay footage) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO4Iy2_zOVo&list=UU6yzV_xgKn8r77FkcmZyMSg&feature=c4-overview

But if it's meaningless, what vision are you really trying to convey? Shock for the sake of shock?
how could you not mention
shooting a kid dead and then melting him in acid
That will happen AFTER GZ, also GZ is way too short for that all to happen. 100% sure we won't see this in Ground Zeroes.
How is BB pushing the limit of mediocre TV writing? Assuming you meant raising the bar for what is considered mediocre on TV.I don't get it. What "limit" did Breaking Bad push? you can in the old Fallout gamesEh perhaps, but I still I'm sure it involves something horrific happening to kids, its def the controversial aspect of the game that Kojima started eluding to early on.
On a side note are there other games which you can freely kill children? I can't seem to think of any.

The gameplay looks great. It's the story that's turning me off.
It can't be any worse than MGS4, so.

That is some dumbass logic he's bringing to the table. You don't have to go to to the limit of gore and shock to push a medium, if that's what he's implying. Breaking Bad certainly didn't for the most part.
Who knows what it is, though. We'll just have to wait and see.

He is not doing it for the sake of it. He has a story to tell and it happens that showing those scenes perfectly depict what he is trying to tell us.
Wow, because a new and never before seen level of cruelty makes your game more worth culturally or more mature, seriously some guys got hit hard on their heads ...
You can tell child soldiers will be a big focus. I kind of hope Kojima goes all out, and has them as enemies. Easily startled, trigger happy children actually work from a gameplay perspective (wow, how fucked up does that sound?). But, in a series such as Metal Gear Solid, it'll be interesting to see how people approach combating child soldiers. You could obviously go the stealth route, tranq them, or be an evil, sadistic murder.
I'm really scared they're going to kill Chico. Graphically. Peace Walker made me love this kid.
MGS4's story is supremely dumb but it's not really offensive or tryhard. It's more just messy and sappy.

I read a theory on this on GAF that really stuck with me as possibly being the gross violent thing; that while the bomb is out of Paz, they didn't realize one was in Chico. Boom.
Breaking Bad has its main protagonist do some really awful shit while still expecting its audience to remain engaged with the show. I'm guessing Ground Zeroes is really when Big Boss "turns heel" so to speak, or becomes an anti-hero and Kojima wants to to stay with Big Boss on this journey even though he's making you do a lot of bad things. That's my guess.I don't get it. What "limit" did Breaking Bad push? The limit of mediocre TV writing, maybe? Sure. But I doubt that this is what he's talking about. shut the fuck up
Video games are video games. It's not real, so no scene should be labeled as "controversial" because that's what movies are doing for years. Pressing buttons doesn't make this any worse or more real. Anyone who's boycotting this because of the level of gore, should better be someone who's applying this behaviour to everything in life. Hypocrisy... and stuff.
