About 80% of Nintendo's games are announced that way. Things like Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 are definitely the exception.I wish other developers announced their games like Monolith Soft does, announce your game when it ready instead of just showing logo and decade later release the game.
You are right which makes me question why decided jump gun this early for Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3? what is even more weird that Platinum announced Astral Chain with proper trailer and got released not long after that.About 80% of Nintendo's games are announced that way. Things like Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 are definitely the exception.
Remember that Prime 4, Bayo 3 but also Shin Megami Tensei 5 were all revealed during the very first year of the Switch's lifetime. To me this indicates that Nintendo wanted to signal to "hardcore gamers" for lack of a better word that they had learned from their mistakes and that this wasn't going to be another Wii situation. It was a marketing move to show that the system would have a varied catalog. You are right which makes me question why decided jump gun this early for Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3? what is even more weird that Platinum announced Astral Chain with proper trailer and got released not long after that.

If I remember correctly Xenoblade 2 also got announced in 2017, but it got released same year.Remember that Prime 4, Bayo 3 but also Shin Megami Tensei 5 were all revealed during the very first year of the Switch's lifetime. Sure, but its taking forever release those games. To sell Switch early in its life, based on two eagerly-awaited sequels to fan-favourite IPs. And it worked.

I'm not saying they shouldn't take their time developing the game but I wish the would announce the game when its ready to announce and they actually had something to show instead of just showing logo.More development time means better quality.
I thought it meant "To be Assertained"...hence nobody knows yet...Honestly, who writes this garbage?
"TBA" means "To Be Announced"
It doesn't in any shape or form indicate that Nintendo doesn't know when the game will be released. Perhaps they don't, but it's not what this means. It simply means they have not announced it yet. The fact that it has changed to TBA from 2022 also does not mean that they don't know. It may imply an internal delay, but not lack of insight.
I swear, people extrapolate the most uncanny and simply incorrect things when they write articles from financial results that apparently they don't have the tools to read correctly. Mind you, this is even worse because it misrepresents a simple and common acronym in English. What the...
As others have said it was was largely to give people confidence in the longevity of the console in its early life. Nintendo announced 6 new first party games at the Switch reveal event, but all of them were released were in a year. They needed to show they had more. You are right which makes me question why decided jump gun this early for Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3? what is even more weird that Platinum announced Astral Chain with proper trailer and got released not long after that.
Yeah.. it's inevitable at this point. I have let go of that already. I'm not engaging in that conversation at all, no matter how much of it there is.Going to be painful to see how this looks after all these crazy good looking games recently like Forbidden West.
well most of US Nintendo Fans dont care about graphics and Story as long as it has great Fun Gameplay.Going to be painful to see how this looks after all these crazy good looking games recently like Forbidden West.

Why don't people always bring up graphics in every Nintendo thread. We don't care about that. i thought that was long gone back in the Wii days. Just like saying is Nintendo is for Casuals.
Ohh BOTW didnt win any awards for best graphics and see how it turned out.
that's what yuzu and ryujinx are forGoing to be painful to see how this looks after all these crazy good looking games recently like Forbidden West.
Hardly. let's remember Mother3 64, Body Harvest 64, Pikmin 4 which was meant to be almost complete in 2015 LOLAbout 80% of Nintendo's games are announced that way. Things like Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 are definitely the exception.
so let Nintendo do what they do best. if i want graphical showcases of games i will get a PC. With Playstation and Gamepass PC is the best place for that. if Metroid Prime 4 looks good as Doom 2021 i will be fine. For most Nintendo games graphics aren't that essential, since they have the cartoony or simple look. But I think Breath of the Wild would have been a better game on better hardware, same will go for Metroid Prime 4. It even needs to be 60 fps...
You’re ok?Metroid

I predict it will be similar to every other major Nintendo release.Going to be painful to see how this looks after all these crazy good looking games recently like Forbidden West.

Usually just a fun, super polished game that gets rave reviews. If that's pain, then I guess I'm into kinkier stuff than I thought
Yeah, that is true. I think as long as it looks like late PS3 game it'll be more than fine. I honestly don't think anyone's going to care. When talented artists make a game, it's not really that held back. Nintendo doesn't put out anything that looks like The Last of Us 1, and the Switch could probably run that honestly. I'm not worried.Metroid is a different type of game than Kirby, Mario, Animal Crossing and so on though. Its a darker sci fi setting, its harder to get away with simple and cartoony then. Probably why you see so few games like that on Switch.
thats why Nintendo always put performers first than resolution. That game ran at 20 fps though and had lots of huge flaws just so it could run on Switch.
Is it not just Metroid Dread art?Retro just updated their twitter banner to this.
Mainline Zelda is always shown too early.About 80% of Nintendo's games are announced that way. Things like Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 are definitely the exception.
Those massive shoulder pads are definitely not the dread suit.Is it not just Metroid Dread art?
Ahhhh you all are good. I didn't catch that. Those massive shoulder pads are definitely not the dread suit.
3 games from a 20+ year period doesn't disprove my point. 80%, is still a good ballpark figure. If we want to get a more accurate figure of Nintendo published games announced in the past three years we can do the math.Hardly. let's remember Mother3 64, Body Harvest 64, Pikmin 4 which was meant to be almost complete in 2015 LOL
Mainline Zelda is always shown too early.
At this point wouldn't you rather it releasefor Switch 2? Give me Prime 4 as a Switch 2 launch title, looking much better than it ever would on switch 1 at 60 fps. This and a 3d donkey Kong game

Share of games announced with gameplay - 93.5%
Zelda definitely has a longer "announce to release" schedule than most Zelda games, but even then Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Link Between Worlds were all announced with gameplay. BOTW and BOTW were not though.
Which is why I said it happens for 80% of Nintendo games not 100%. Which part of my statement do you disagree with?I haven't even begun to list the Nintendo games shown off only to be delayed for years or to not even make it out.
Zelda 64, Zelda BOTW, Mario Artist 64, Pokemon Stadium, Kirby 64, Super Paper Mario, Jungle Emperor Leo 64, StarFox/Dinosaur planet, Enteral Darkness Ect
Of course, when Nintendo does it, it makes sense and 'take your time'. When others do it, the game is in development hell
Hopefully it will run at more than 240p. Currently playing Hyrule Warriors BotW, shit is so blurry it looks much worse than the first game on Wii U.I predict it will be similar to every other major Nintendo release.
Usually just a fun, super polished game that gets rave reviews. If that's pain, then I guess I'm into kinkier stuff than I thought
I dont think so. By Nintendo standards, Metroid and Bayonetta are pretty niche. They had Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, Smash. None of those were announced several years out and are magnitudes more important in selling Switch consoles. To sell Switch early in its life, based on two eagerly-awaited sequels to fan-favourite IPs. And it worked.
Like I said it's always ok for Nintendo, just not for others, there are plenty more . Nintendo love to announce games and for us to be left waiting years for it, they do it all the time for Zelda and we're still waiting for Prime 4 and Bay 3Which is why I said it happens for 80% of Nintendo games not 100%. Which part of my statement do you disagree with?
If it adds clarity, my statement was in relation to Nintendo's approach now and I was not commenting on Nintendo's approach from two decades ago.
But I never said its okay for Nintendo and not for others, nor did I use the phrase "just take your time" anywhere in this thread. That's a strawman argument you've brought up yourself.Like I said it's always ok for Nintendo, just not for others, there are plenty more . Nintendo love to announce games and for us to be left waiting years for it, they do it all the time for Zelda and we're still waiting for Prime 4 and Bay 3
But with Nintendo, 'just take your time
Yes, they earned this right .. when they take time everything is fine ..Like I said it's always ok for Nintendo, just not for others, there are plenty more . Nintendo love to announce games and for us to be left waiting years for it, they do it all the time for Zelda and we're still waiting for Prime 4 and Bay 3

You added in recent. Nintendo current record isn't great. We've been waiting years for the new Zelda, Bay 3 and Prime 4.But I never said its okay for Nintendo and not for others, nor did I use the phrase "just take your time" anywhere in this thread. That's a strawman argument you've brought up yourself.
What I said was that in recent years around 80% of games Nintendo publishes have been announced with gameplay and the majority have been released within one year. That is a true statement.
You mean like Devils Third?Yes, they earned this right .. when they take time everything is fine ..
Nintendo quality.
Right, but again I said 80% not 100%. Nintendo's announcement strategy for BOTW2, Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 is very different from its announcement strategy for the other 80% of the games it publishes. I did a list earlier in this thread to prove that. You added in recent. Nintendo current record isn't great. We've been waiting years for the new Zelda, Bay 3 and Prime 4.
Really?Right, but again I said 80% not 100%. Nintendo's announcement strategy for BOTW2, Bayonetta 3 and Prime 4 is very different from its announcement strategy for the other 80% of the games it publishes. I did a list earlier in this thread to prove that.
Hardly a Nintendo game .. it’s made by the DOA guyYou mean like Devils Third?
if you look up their recent direct, everything shown will be released this year. You added in recent. Nintendo current record isn't great. We've been waiting years for the new Zelda, Bay 3 and Prime 4.
remember halo 4? it's going to look like that. also the switch handled alien isolation pretty well.Metroid is a different type of game than Kirby, Mario, Animal Crossing and so on though. Its a darker sci fi setting, its harder to get away with simple and cartoony then. Probably why you see so few games like that on Switch.
Yes, really. You can look at the list yourself and see that I'm right.Really?
Zelda BOTW 2, Bay 3, Prime 4 were all announced years ago and all are still yet to be released. I'll be amazed if Prime even comes out of the Switch myself and be it on the Switch successor instead
