Ruining my childhood one franchise at a time... then again, there's no way any new TMNT movie was going to be better than the original, no matter who directed it.

Oh. Yeah....okay.

I only watched a tiny bit of the show. Last thing I remembered was Leo beating Karai.
The 2003 show was quite good, especially compared to most of the other Fox shows at the time. Although, I haven't seen enough of the 80s show, or the original comics, to comment on the differences between them. Aside from that, I enjoyed it on it's own merits.

Aside from me, it seems that it had a generally good critical reception. Plus there was that crossover movie as well (Turtles Forever), which was also well-regarded.

Donatello was pretty charming in 2003 version. In 80's he's just the "smart guy", in 2003 he's that socially awkward nerd who later befriends a humanoid alligator.

And the internet bitchfest continues. Nevermind that he's only one of three Executive Producers on this, I'm happy that there's going to be a big budget, live action TMNT film, even if they do mess with the origin story. It's going to be awesome seeing a serious take on it again. I would have preferred a sequel to the 2007 CG movie, but this will definitely do.

You can only take so much though.

And define "serious take".

Apparently the turtles come from a different dimension and Krang is the main villain of the movie.

FRIDAY THE 13TH remake and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake say GTFO.

lol.

Weren't you just making the case that his potentially minimal involvement would mean good things?
Wow... You have no idea how logic actually works, do you? Nevermind that both of those movies were directed by the same person, lets focus on the person who WASN'T directly involved with these movies and focus on that. Yeah, that makes sense.

Also why are people assuming this is equivalent to TF. TMNT isn't a successful label today which spouts toys - it is a powerful legacy but not that strong.

They're Bay movies. His influence extended throughout all levels of the production.

I actually know what I am talking about, from primary sources, so lol.

If you really knew as much as you claim to do, you'd know that he's not the only producer there. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form also produce these movies.

So it looks like Bay responded on his official site

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

Michael

The first full trailer will show a cybernetic alien crushing a building. Each one of us will pay to watch it, and subsequently trash the film, and Bay as an incompetent director. Bay will go on to piss on more childhood memories.

No!

The line must be drawn here! This far! No farther!

wasn't planning on watching it anyway

Yeah and the directors of the Mario Bros. movie changed things and built a richer world too and the fans loved that too right?

Maybe they will recolour the armoured truck in the background green and turn it into the Turtle van? :P

There is a very good reason they re-used this shot. Someone was seriously injured with head trauma and put into accoma while filming and they did not have time to re-cut the entire scene.

while I hate BAY as much as the next guy lets be fair.

now..

turtles from space?? Fuck this shit.

/end

Looking back at it, it was a really cool and innovative re-imagining of the Mario universe.

But yeah, it killed the movie when it came out.

I know it's kind of funny because I kind of like it too haha, but yes in terms of telling the fans to chill out, he is taking a big risk changing too much.

We are in a time where every license is being remade (Transformers, Smurfs, Lorax, the list goes on) and in most cases just the announcement of ones of these movies makes people scoff so when you start to change things up too much fans are just going to hate it that much more and lose more and more faith in it.

Ahahahah

You know, regardless of media, TMNT origins have been consistent. They tweaked a bit, but they are always the same thing - regular turtles exposed to a mutagen turned them into TMNT. There have been alternatives, like Splinter being Yoshi instead of Yoshi's pet, and turtles being geniuses themselves like in the new comic, but they're consistent.

This is just... wrong!

Man I hate when people just come in and rewrite critical shit to a franchise like this as they please.

Hate it so damn bad. I don't even care if it could turn out to be good.
