Add this to the list of crazy rulings.

A French judge ruled on Tuesday that five Michael Jackson fans who said they were distraught over his death be paid a total of one euro in "emotional damages" by the entertainer's doctor, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011.

Under French law, plaintiffs can bring a case against another party who is neither French nor resides in France as long as they themselves are a citizen.

Their lawyer, Emmanuel Ludot, told AFP: "As far as I know, this is the first time in the world that the notion of emotional damage in connection with a pop star has been recognised."

I was dating a girl when he died who took his death really hard. To the point where it was a bit creepy. She even got lyrics of his tattooed on her side.

The strangest part is she never came off like so much of a fan when he was alive.

Most "late-period" Michael Jackson fans were emotionally damaged from his life, not his death.

I'm feeling emotionally damaged by the depressing suffering and war on the news. Who can I sue?
