I'm hoping for a Surface Pro 4 announcement. I hope it will launch before the end of September when I go to college.

Nice OT btw.

I highly doubt they will talk about Surface Pro 4 when launching the Surface 3 next week. All Surface attention will be on that, they won't want to cause confusion leading into the big launch week. They are putting a lot of attention and marketing into the Surface 3 launch next week.

Really hoping to see something about a new flagship, hell, a new line of windows phones. Time to show us what that Nokia money bought, MS.

Also, definitely looking forward to the Hololens stuff.

Aw yeahhh. Last year was pretty good, and I'm nearly in the market for some Windows phoney/tablet things, which have seen some aggressive pricing here in the UK over the last few months.

Last year's build was amazing, Roslyn was a shocker. Too bad it hasn't quite lived up to its expectations yet for the outside community (imo), but it'll get there.

This year sounds quite a bit less interesting for me personally, but will still keep my eyes & ears open what they'll announce. Some more Directx 12 specifics might be cool too.

Visual Studio 2015
  • Showing off the Android Emulator
  • Developing for Android with C++ in Visual Studio

  • Improved GitHub Support
  • Roslyn

Good, good.

Nice OT btw.
Thanks :)

oh crap this is TOMORROW?!

why did i think build was so much later in the year lol
They used to be in August up until a couple years ago. Then they tried a year at the Microsoft Campus, but for the past 2 years they have done them April/May.

Visual Studio 2015
  • Showing off the Android Emulator
  • Developing for Android with C++ in Visual Studio

  • C# 6.0, VB14
  • Improved GitHub Support

Good, good.
And thats just the tip of the iceberg! If I included everything the OT would have been at least 2-3x larger. Its going to be a good build this year

I do hope they start shipping x86 phones with support for desktop stuff eventually on larger screens, or maybe as a hidden advanced mode or something you have to enable in settings. Like an alternate "compact desktop" mode of some kind. Requires some thought, but it's something I'd love them to look into.

For now I'm all aboard the SP4 and Lumia flagship hype train though.

Side note: I hate that they've removed the surface branding in favour of Microsoft logo on the back of the Surface 3s.

Here are some news pieces from what specific reporters expect to see from Build

Also this news just came out
Microsoft rumored to announce Android apps support for Windows 10 at Build 2015
Really interested to see how they do this. I hope they do it through adding Java support to Visual Studio... Except instead of compiling it to Java, they would just use the language syntax to compile it to Windows Runtime which everything in Metro compiles to. Then they would just need to find some way to deal with the Android APIs (they could wrap them around Windows ones) and we would be left with a solution where we could easily get Android apps, and they would perform as well as Windows apps written in C# or C++ because it wouldn't be emulation.

This is tomorrow? Darn! I'm going to work right through this.
Ouch. Luckily they archive everything.

For this forum, all questions on Xbox One since no one has seen much in there.
Should be interesting. All we know it's that they will be showing off the APIs for making apps on the Xbox One, and I've read that the MonoGame guys are looking to integrate support for MonoGame on the Xbox One through these APIs.

We also have that 2D DirectX12 API for C# which could likely be used for games as well.
